Sports is not just being aggressive, throwing a ball around, and having fun. Sports are a huge part of today’s society. The world is obsessed with the sports world. Even though sports can be an escape from reality for a few hours, sports have drastically made the world a better and happier place. Sports teach athletes discipline, are good bonding experiences between all types of people, and have positive emotional effects on people. Participating in sports starting out young can be a very good thing. While it is excellent for ones health, it is also a great foundation to learn discipline. Whether it is between teammates, family, friends, or strangers. Teammates form an unbreakable bond by winning, losing, crying, laughing, and working hard together. Many families and friends share a close bond by rooting for the same team. Family and friends have get-togethers to watch games, go to sporting events together, and have many conversations about sports which all tie people closer together. Even strangers form a bond when they see someone wearing their favorite teams apparel. Sports give an excuse to strangers to talk and relate to each other. Sports have positive emotional effects on people, which makes for a happier, more confident society. The daily exercise that goes into training for the sport helps work away stress and anger. Winning a game or receiving a special award on the team can help boost a person’s confidence. Sports even have positive emotional effects on fans of the sport. Watching the sport can help take away someone’s stress or unhappiness for a few hours. In How I Learned to Love Football Felisa Rogers stated “It was as though by listening I was affirming some part of him that was safe from the cold realities of survival” (Rogers 534). It is an escape from reality for some fans of sports. Sports also give people hope that they can overcome anything.
