Why Watch Families Suffer!
I’m a mother of 2 and working a full time job, if the state decided to cut funding programs for child care assistance it would be devastating. Putting me in a position to either quit my job or find another one to be able to afford child care. This would just be the beginning of my downward spiral, one that could land me back in my mother’s residents where I lived for many years.
I watched my mother struggle raising 11 children growing up; I would never have thought I would experience this situation.
I grew up in Decatur, Illinois in what I would describe a dysfunctional family, with my father leaving my mother when I was very young. Making thinks much harder for my mother with 11 kids forcing my older siblings to take responsibility at a very young age.
When I was 16 I had my first child, and it was a new outlook on life, worrying about how I was going to take care of her while in high school. Always having to find a different baby sitter daily and hoping for the best while I wasn’t around.
In 2012 I gave birth to my second child; creating challenges for myself I wasn’t ready for. Now I just had double the problems. Now with everyone working in my immediate family I had nowhere to take my children while I went out and tried to make an honest living for them. Now i had no choice but to leave my children with neighbors. One day the neighbors left my oldest unattended near a hot iron, and she pulled it down with her arm, leaving her with a burns and a permanent scare.
In 2013 I finally secured a place in the state subsidized child care program. Giving me the opportunity to go to school and land a full time job. Ever since then I’ve haven’t had any problems with finding my kids a safe place while I went to work and not having to worry.
Child care is the one part of her my life that has held everything else together. Now that’s teetering, determining the governor’s decision. I would not be able to work, it would be very disappointing. Everything I’ve built would be gone. We’d have to go back to public housing because it’s either pay the rent or get evicted, or even quit my job and start receiving welfare.
I’m Paying Taxes. I’m spending my money and supporting the economy, and if they take away my child care, I’m going to have to quit my JOB and go on WELFARE again. This doesn’t just affect the parents of low-income families. I also affect jobs of Day Care Workers and their businesses.

...means they are always sitting in front of TV. Children shouldn’t be allowed to watch TV because there are two primary negative effects of watching TV on kids, which are social problems and health problems. Argument

...mmmmmmm mmmmmmm 2 February 2016 Decision Made by Terminally Ill Patients What if you think that your time is up, why not end it without suffering? Why allow your siblings loved ones, and others sit around and watch you die slowly? People who are terminally ill should decide if they want to live in pain or die. There are a lot of arguments about the family wanting their love ones to live instead of die, which is selfish. The family should also understand. If a person is terminally ill and not able to take the pain anymore, then they should end their lives upon their choice. Terminally ill patients should be able to decide not to suffer, make their own decisions and die with dignity. For one it is selfish to have an ill person suffering waiting on their death day. It should only be their choice if they decide to suffer or not. If you have never suffered before, then you wouldn’t know how bad the pain really is. No matter whom they are, regardless if it’s the mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, or any other close member of the family, have to understand it’s our lives. Pain is pain there is no big or small, pain is exactly what it is. “Legalize Assisted Suicide: A debate.”(1) Discuss killing someone to suffer. It discusses the fear of the losing capacity to make the choice to die. Those are some of the reason terminally ill patients should not have to suffer. Secondly, under no circumstances a terminally ill person should decide how he/she would like to end their lives...

...mandatory detention some might say well what is that it’s simple two words ‘kids’ and ‘jail ’cheerio bye no! Wait. Why should children be denied childhood? Why must children be denied education? Why must we call them the forgotten children? When Captain James cook first came to Australia he did not fly by plane with a passport and visa, he came by boat and was welcomed by the Aboriginals, we all know what they did to the Aboriginals! So if Australia’s history first started with CONVICTS on boats why are we denying innocent children and their families in harsh conditions, a place to call home? My parents like these people were once refugees and they wanted a new life for themselves running from the civil war in Somalia, and the harsh conditions they went through I’m happy I was not born then. While we go to school, have fun with friends and family and enjoy life ‘Children continue to suffer a catalogue of abuses – physical, psychological, and sexual – while in the care of Australian authorities. I refuse to sit and just except and say ‘yeah it makes sense’ they came on boats, they’re illegal and let them suffer because they were running for their lives. Supporting a Position

...to, but does not work for these people to make sure everything is done properly, I have to think, why do we continue this form of capital punishment? I watch a show called Penn & Teller Bullshit, where they have episodes, where they show what is wrong, or false, or not completely true, about different things. One of their episodes deals with capital punishment and the problems it causes, especially as was pointed out, with the messed up lethal injection from the Florida case. I honestly can not say for sure whether or not I think capital punishment should or should not be banned. On the other hand, I do believe that it would be more beneficial to a lot of people if there was something to do with these criminals as opposed to leaving them in a cell for years on end till they reach however old it may be either 80 or 90 or whatever else. I believe that the tax payers are doing enough and should not have to keep paying for people for 40 or more years. I believe that a good way to go about doing capital punishment if we keep it around is to let the criminal decide out of a few different choices how he wants to die. Obviously there should be a limit to what the choices are, but to be honest, they say lethal injection is done because the other forms of killing a criminal were considered inhumane or whatever it is that was said. Well, how humane is it to paralyze a criminal and then even though he can not voice his pain or cry out, to watch him suffer much longer than intended which is...

Suffering the Iliad

...Suffering in The Iliad Suffering seems to be one of the under toning themes of the Iliad. Everyone undergoes the effects of war and battle. The women stand and watch helplessly as their loved ones fight, and live knowing they may never come back. The role of what a ‘man’ or ‘women’ is or should be also causes suffering because of the decisions they must take on. The warriors understand that whichever decision they make to continue in battle or desert, their honor and integrity is at stake and that dilemma causes suffering Although, each person I mention seems to somewhat understand what fate lies ahead of them or of their loved ones, they realize the suffering they will have to eventually go through. As a warrior Achilles has witnessed much death but this war has him questioning why labor through it all? Achilles does not believe in this war initially. He knows the war is over power and ego of a man who could not keep his wife, and doesn’t understand why many men must be dragged into personal affairs and get their hands dirty will the Kings stand back and watch their people and country die. Achilles identity is based on being a proud fighter and he weeping to his mother is a great concern. The humiliation he experiences with Agamemnon, the fact that he lost his war prize and could not defend what was his, affects Achilles pride as well. Achilles, in a time of vulnerability goes to his mother and asks for her guidance after his integrity is compromised. Thetis son Achilles...

...murders, rapes, and so many other dreadful things. These calamitous occurrences are becoming a part of our daily routine. We may stop to read the newspaper or watch that news segment for a few moments to learn what happened, but we do not take the time to empathize what happened to that person or an entire country. As Bloom had stated, “But empathy will have to yield to reasons if humanity is to have a future” (Bloom), this statement has to muster up some sort of emotion...

Argumentative Essay: The Legalization Of Assisted Suicide

...these things but when you think more in depth, is this not a part of life today? When can these things be wrong and immoral or just necessary? If some person or thing is suffering, is it right to ease the pain? Assisted suicide by a physician can help people that truly ask for their suffering to be over. Every person should have a choice. The first topic to bring up is the realization of how we treat our pets today. No person wants their pets to suffer if they are ill. Pets that suffer are put to rest in a safe and to our knowledge painless way. A question to ask is why do people care more about their pets than the people in their...

Assisted Suicide

...selfish about the decision at first. If I knew it was what my loved one wished for, I think I would do anything in my power to help them get their “dying” wish. If a person is in that bad of shape and cannot eat on their own or perform most daily task, isn’t it almost like being comatose? If the life will never have any real value and they will end up in pain for the rest of their time on earth, isn’t that the same as being cruel to animals and making them suffer? Why would any loved one want to see someone they love suffer through any more pain than they have to? If the quality of life has been diminished and the real ability to do almost anything is gone, would you want to be kept alive in pain? In my personal will, it states that if I am comatose with less than 40% brain activity, unplug the machine. If I have cancer and they cannot cure it, if I am in so much pain I can no longer enjoy any of my life or loved ones in it. I am to be left alone for my own suicide. Killing

...from a disease or to let them live and suffer horribly every day? That is one of the hardest experiences somebody can ever go through. Personally I pray that I will never have to go through such a tough choice. If you kill them, you have to live with that on your conscious for the rest of your life. But, if you let them live, you have to watch them suffer and struggle every day just to live to the next day. “Cerebral palsy is a group of disorders that can involve brain and nervous system functions such as movement, learning, hearing, seeing, and thinking.” (A.D.A.M. Medical Encyclopedia). Tracy Latimer was only 12 years old when she suffered from Cerebral Palsy. She couldn’t move, hear, see, or anything. She was basically a human vegetable. Her father, Robert, was supposed to take her to get an operation done. Instead, he locked her in the car and let it run, which eventually led her to die from carbon monoxide poisoning. He was convicted of second degree murder and was given a 10 year sentence. Did Robert Latimer do the right thing? Should he be looked at as a danger to society and a murderer? Or should people look at him as somebody that saved his daughters life? Yes, Robert Latimer is unquestionably a murderer. He took away the life of an innocent 12 year old girl who did not do anything wrong in her life. She was not a threat to anybody. All she did was take up air. She couldn’t move, see, hear, or do anything. Why kill her if she isn’t harming anybody...

Physician Assisted Suicide Summary

...Summary / Opinion: Physician-assisted suicide is a bad idea In the article “Physician-assisted suicide is a bad idea”, James Avery states that since medicine has been created, physicians should not help patients kill themselves anymore. Euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide were rejected by the medical profession and almost all cultures for long time ago. The author believes that to reduce anxieties in patients who have terminal illness for their peaceful death, doctors have to tell patients about their suffering and reassure them about their future. One of the reasons why Mr. Avery opposes physician-assisted suicide is that doctors’ duties are healing and comforting, not killing. Although assisted-suicide is the easy way out for doctors,...

Arguments Against Euthanasia And Physician Assisted Suicide

...decision themselves. The Hippocratic Oath states, “Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life” (Tyson). This is taken directly from the modern Hippocratic Oath and it clearly contradicts prior belief about the duty of a doctor. Another common argument that people against euthanasia and assisted suicide make is that there is a fine line between euthanasia and assisted suicide and murder. Murder occurs when one human being unlawfully kills another human being (Wex Legal Dictionary). It is clear that euthanasia and assisted suicide is distinct from murder in that it is the patient’s choice to end their life and it is not forced upon them. It is not unlawful and there is no hatred or spite involved. It is a very peaceful...

Book Thief Obsession Quotes

...This is important because it shows early on that death isn’t sure how he feels about humans, and when humans like to watch destruction that can lead him to believe that they’re not the best and aren’t worth it. In Death’s Diary when he’s talking about his appearance Death says “you should understand self-obsession”. This piece of evidence is again showing how Death doesn’t agree with the way humans look at themselves. Him not agreeing with how humans look at themselves is important because he’s explaining how he isn’t use to being so self-indulgent, this is the opposite of what humans normally do showing their greed and how they’re not worth it. During the time in Death’s Diary where he is explaining some of the bombings he says that “They increase the production of bodies and their escaping souls. A few bombs usually do the trick. Or some gas chambers, or the chitchat of faraway guns. If none of that finishes proceedings, it at least strips people of their living arrangements and I witness the homeless everywhere”. When death brings this up it’s important because it explains how much of the bad in humans he normally sees. When humans are doing all these terrible things such as making people homeless, Death takes it into account and doesn’t forget what they do, and this leads into his thoughts about how humans aren’t worth...

Overcrowding in Prisons

...prisons. There are more people incarcerated than we have room for in the United States. Although some states are far worse off than others this is a serious problem none the less. There are plans to fix this problem but not at the speed people would like. Topic: Overcrowded prisons are a problem for many different reasons. Most people are already aware of this problem, either they read it in a newspaper or saw it somewhere on the television. This is not just a local problem, it is almost everywhere. Are there reasons why this continues to happen, and has this situation improved through out the years? Are there things us as a society can do to change overcrowding in prisons? These are questions we should ask ourselves considering tax payers are the people that pay the most for food, shelter, and medical care for all the prisoners that are incarcerated. In the United States prisons the recidivism rate is amazingly high. In 1994, the biggest study of prisoner recidivism that has been ever been completed in the United States proved that, of nearly 300,000 adult prisoners who were released in 15 different states, 67.5 percent were arrested again within three years. (Meditating Behind Bars: How Yoga in Prisons Could Cut Overcrowding) There are many different outlooks on this issue. Some people think it can be fixed, others do not. Some people think over crowding is caused...
