Studying abroad and traveling have always been two things that I have wanted to do since I was in high school. I think that I am beyond lucky that I am given the opportunity to study abroad through the University of Redlands. I am interested in studying in Barcelona, Spain. Barcelona is my number one choice and I would be studying with the IES Liberal Arts & Business Program. Barcelona is my top choice for three main reasons; being able to become fluent in Spanish, studying Spanish art and architecture, and for the cultural experience. I have studied Spanish since 1st grade and I am at the point in my life where I am developing a passion for the language and I wish to become fluent in it. I am majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Fine Arts. Becoming fluent in Spanish will allow me to broaden my work horizons not just for the remainder of my college career, but also for the rest of my life. I wish to become an interior designer when I am older so being fluent in another language will allow me to work with more clients. I have always been passionate about art and design. I think that there is no better place to study these two things than in Barcelona. Barcelona is filled with different styles of architecture and art all throughout the city. Through the Liberal Arts & Business Program with IES, I plan to take classes on the architecture and landscape in Barcelona and also an art and design class. These classes will fulfill my CC and CP LAF’s. Since I am majoring in Business Administration, while I am abroad I plan on taking classes in Marketing Management and International Marketing. These classes will further my knowledge in the world of business and will be more specific to the topics I wish to learn about in business. I also find that there is no other way to learn about business than from the perspective of another country. I plan

My advisor also suggested that I study abroad over the summer, but I knew that I wanted to go abroad during a semester, not over the summer. I wanted to study during a semester because I wanted to experience the culture for...

The globalthoughts.com and the quickmba.com websites outline several different global market strategies. These strategies include: exporting, licensing, franchising, foreign direct investment, strategic alliances, and joint ventures. Exporting is “the marketing and direct sale of domestically-produced goods in another country” (quickmba.com 1), and is used more often by small companies, licensing “is best used by those companies that have a component of intellectual property,” (globethoughts.com 1), franchising requires lower startup costs for the franchisor but limits the amount of money that can be made, foreign direct investment “is the direct investment of facilities in the target country” (quickmba.com 3), strategic alliances “are simply a business-to-business collaboration” (globethoughts 3), and joint ventures are the “formation of a third independent company owned but not necessarily managed by the partners” (globethoughts.com 2). After reading and analyzing information on these global marketing strategies, the most appropriate and effective strategy for Temple University’s expansion abroad would be the strategic alliance strategy. The Advantages of Studying Abroad Far Outweigh the Disadvantages

...The advantages of studying abroad far outweigh the disadvantages. Discuss In today’s world, a considerable number of students are not limited to study in their local countries. Instead, they choose to study abroad. This phenomenon becomes a trend especially in recent years. A variety of different attitudes have been come up with on both sides of the question. It is in this background that this essay begins by outlining the arguments for students choose to study abroad and point to the problems with these views. Afterwards, it will conclude with a summary of the main ideas canvassed. An important reason for students choose to study abroad is to improve their language skills. It is generally known that English is the official language in a large number of countries, in other words, English is a world language. If people want to enter a global workforce, speaking English fluently is very important for themselves. Studying abroad gives them a chance to practice their language skills. According to Lafford (2006), Study abroad has traditionally been assumed to be the best environments in which to acquire a second language. He argued that study abroad could help students to improve their target languages’ pronunciation, grammar and vocabularies through their usual life. Coincidentally, Freed (1995) pointed out that the students who study abroad could improve their speaking skills and make their second language become more fluent. ...develop broader perspectives and new teamwork and entrepreneurial competencies to supplement preparation in the traditional technical subjects. Although a semester-long study-abroad experience is a valuable part of an educational program aimed at providing these competencies, this paper discusses the value of supplementing such programs with broader and more comprehensive approaches. In particular, a program with distributed and progressive experiences in teamwork, entrepreneurial thinking, and pervasive design and innovation experiences are described. It’s no secret that the traditional perception of engineering students is a routine of working all day and rarely having any time for play. Let’s face it, for any diligent undergrad, hard work should be the standard, but our friends toiling away in their math and science lectures also need something other than textbooks and laboratory work to mix up their day to day activities. Enrolling in an engineering study abroad program is the perfect way to balance out all of that academic pain with some adventure and fun. There are all types of engineers and all types of engineering programs; so it makes sense that you can study engineering almost anywhere in the world!  A large list of the top engineering schools can be found in the United States.  But, if you would like to study somewhere different, you might appreciate the perspectives you can gain from engineering professors somewhere like India or England.  Gaining new perspective in engineering...

Studying Abroad for Future Inspirations

...Studying Abroad For Future Inspirations Teenagers nowadays are trying to find short cuts or quick ways to get over with their academic programs in high school. A lot of them seem to have no idea what they are about to do next; they just want to be done with school so they can enjoy their time. However, they do not realize the fact that their education is actually a major part of their life and finding their careers. Many teenagers tend to be clueless about their future and do not know their true talents or identities. It happens because teenagers love to try new things and go with the flow of their friends; they are confused with what they are really good at or interested in. When one has to be alone for a long time, he or she would have enough time to be able to identify his or her true identity; studying abroad is the solution. It is very difficult to see the whole picture for the new faces in other countries because they could not solve their problems on their own. This phenomenon usually occurs with the closed family culture. So, going overseas leads teenagers to improve their solving skills when they encounter obstacles. The more difficulties they faced, the more they are able to handle in any situation. A French novelist, Marcel Proust, once stated that, “The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” Seeing the new side of the world brings juveniles to discover their new attitudes about the real life. Student Should Not Go Abroad for Study

...Do you agree for disagree with the following statement? Student should not go abroad for study. Use specific reasons and details to support your opinion. The issue about whether student should go abroad for study or not is a debatable one. Some students think that study abroad brings many benefits, while others are of the opinion that they should finish university education in their motherland. For several reasons, which I will list bellow, I disagree with those people who think that student should not go to study in a foreign country. Firstly, the main reason why students prefer foreign countries for study would be: they always seek some changes regards to their education. If it is foreign countries, they can learn different languages and cultures while it is difficult if they constantly stay at one place. This aspect helps them to gain experiences as well as knowledge. For instance, in many overseas countries, once students complete their degree or course, those countries will offer a wide variety of opportunities to get into a prestigious company. Furthermore, independent lifestyle is a big and significant part in one person's life. Many people in other countries want to run their life on their own. They aspire for an independent life and eventually this would develop their self-esteem and confidence level. In addition to this, students can make new friends there and consequently they will be well-developed in the language skills. Sometimes students might be suffering from...
