The wounded warriors project is an awesome organization that has made a huge impact on helping wounded warriors live a full healthy life all around america. Wounded warriors organization was found by Steven Nardizzi and John Melia in Jacksonville, FL 2003. They started WWP because they wanted to make other people aware of the vertarines and how they wanted to restore the wounded warriors to their former self and help them so they can walk and use the parts they lost with artificial body parts.
The wounded warriors project help people who were in the Army, Navy and those types of programs but they help the ones who have been injured in a war and are pretty much crippled. For example Deron Santiny was tossed by a improvised explosive device and it gave him several injuries such as a concussion, whiplash, ringing in his ears, and he had a spine injury and so the wounded warriors project helped him get back on his feet and he is now inspired by vietnam veterans that have paved the way for soldiers like himself. …show more content…
Once Josh woke up he had to learn to brush his teeth, learn to put a shirt on again, and learn to feed himself. But he remains partially deaf and paralyzed on the left side of his body. He says that he does not regret joining the army in fact he is happy that he has served his country. Josh was happy to be in the wounded warriors program and he was eager to meet people that he could relate with. In October Josh walked a 1000 ft without the help of a treadmill and the WWP made that possible for him. His goal is to be fully capable to walk by himself in 5 years. But what he wants most is for other veterans to know hope is out there for

Prjoect Plan

...Project Plan This project, Rock ‘n’ Reggae, is an outdoor concert event that will benefit a great cause. This concert will have artists such as Black Eyed Peas, Rhianna, and Wyclef Jean and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, to help the veterans of war that may be in a financial or medical hardship. Rock ‘n’ Reggae is designed to be an outlet for all citizens across the nation to see and enjoy a great show. The concert will be held at the Marley Memorial Field, a high school, located in the center of the city of Lakeland, Florida. The location was chosen because the younger generations do not have the opportunity to see a concert event. Also, it is a great location because it is centered between the larger cities of Tampa and Orlando, and it also in central Florida, making it easier for those all over the state to attend. The stadium can hold up to 8000 people as well as more in front of the stage, but this will be reserved for those contest winners, online as well as radio contest winners. The area will also be for the media, news cameras, and radio station representatives. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |...

Swot Analysis

...SWOT Analysis Findings Nike is the world’s leader in equipment, sportswear, and of course athletic sneakers. As golf was introduced into Nike endorsements were used. “The company continued this strategy in 1995 by signing budding superstar Tiger Woods…”(Brna). The sport of golf may be one of the newest additions to Nike, but they thrive to compete against companies such as Adidas and Under Armour. Like Nike, Adidas and Under Armour completed a SWOT analysis on their organization and competition. Strengths Adidas and Under Armour each have similar strengths like Nike, but they also have other strengths that set each apart from one another. Adidas and Under Armour are both financially strong. Adidas is present in over 200 countries and have a very wide product line, while its largest market is in Europe. Adidas is well known in sponsorships with soccer team, and has had its ups and downs in basketball, but currently they have risen with the endorsement of Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls. Under Armour is a strong brand that targets men in sports and have a strong endorsement deal with Carolina Panthers’ Cam Newton. Their mission is “To make all athletes better through passion, design and the relentless pursuit of innovation”( Plank).Under Armour have an innovation and technology driven through its sports performance clothing design. Post Trauma Stress Disorder

...POST TRAUMA STRESS DISORDER What is Post Trauma stress Disorder? PTSD is a condition that is most commonly associated with veterans of war who have experienced front line battle. However, it can affect anyone who has had a major trauma in their lives. These can include but are not limited to auto accidents, rape, child and/or spousal abuse as well as other traumatic cases. The Wounded Warriors Project is a service that offers assistance to those returning from war that have lost limbs, vision, and those with PTSD to accept what has caused them to be or act crazy when they see or hear certain sounds. One of these sounds that can affect the soldier is the sound of fireworks. However, watching movies about war can also trigger that feeling of being there fighting with them. PTSD is categorized into four types: intrusive memories, avoidance, negative changes in thinking and mood, or changes in emotional reactions. The symptoms of PTSD can start as early as 1 day up to three months of the traumatic event. However, there are those who do not show signs of PTSD for many years. The symptoms may not appear until work or social situations cause the client to see the problem. Intrusive memories are mainly unwanted recurrent memories. This can make the client relive or have flashbacks on what caused the trauma. With this in mind, many family members find themselves walking on egg shells to avoid triggering an episode. Many clients with PTSD begin to avoid talking...

...Wearable Computers EEE 439 What is a Wearable Computer? As we continue to integrate computers into our everyday lives at an ever faster rate, the idea that a static desktop, or even a portable laptop can fulfill all of our computing needs is becoming increasingly more ridiculous. The integration of technology constantly creates situations in which we pause and think, “If only I had a computer,” The wearable computer does this. It goes where you go, it does what you do. Its there when you want to use it, unobtrusive when you don’t. So what is a wearable computer? Why don’t we just put our laptops on a sling? In 1998, Steve Mann gave a keynote address at the International Conference on Wearable Computing in which he explained the operational modes of wearable computers and six defining traits of a true wearable computer. According to Mr. Mann, the wearable computer creates three new modes of interaction between human and computer which have not existed before. These three new modes of operation are Constancy, Augmentation, and Mediation (Mann, 1998). Constancy means that the computer is always on and available for use by the user; traditional devices are turned off and closed when not in use. Augmentation is the idea that wearable computers will augment the user’s abilities instead of merely providing computing power on demand. Mann splits Mediation into two different areas; Solitude – the ability to cut oneself off from material, and Privacy – the ability to block or modify...

Budget

...OVERVIEW UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE FISCAL YEAR 2014 BUDGET REQUEST APRIL 2013 OFFICE OF THE UNDER SECRETARY OF DEFENSE (COMPTROLLER) / CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER Preface The Overview Book has been published as part of the President’s Annual Defense Budget for the past few years. This continues for FY 2014, but with modifications as proposed by congressional staff. From FY 1969 to FY 2005 OSD published the “Annual Defense Report” (ADR) to meet 10 USC Section 113 requirements. Starting with the President’s FY 2006 Budget, this report was no longer produced. Subsequently, the Overview began to fill this role. This year to ensure compliance with Section 113, new chapters are added to include reports from each Military Department on their respective funding, military mission accomplishments, core functions, and force structure. Key initiatives incorporated in the FY 2014 Defense budget. Our budget is formulated based on aligning program priorities and resources based on the President’s strategic guidance. This year’s budget involves key themes to: achieve a deeper program alignment of our future force structure with resource availability; maintain a mission ready force; continue to emphasize efficiencies by being even better stewards of taxpayer dollars; and continue to take care of our people and their families. Implementing Defense Strategic Guidance. The FY 2014 budget request continues the force structure reductions made in the FY 2013 budget request. Following...

Army Writting

...to serve the American people, protect enduring national interests, and fulfill the Nation’s military responsibilities. FM 1 is one of the Army’s two capstone field manuals. It contains our vision for the Army. While the entire manual is important, I would direct your attention to four particular items. FM 1 establishes the fundamental principles for employing landpower. The most important of these are the Army’s operational concept and the fundamentals that support it. They form the foundation for all Army doctrine. All Soldiers should understand and internalize them. FM 1 describes the American profession of arms, the Army’s place in it, and what it means to be a professional Soldier. Central to this discussion are the Soldier’s Creed, Warrior Ethos, and Army Values. These three statements establish the guiding values and standards of the Army profession. To understand Soldiers, you must know about them. To be a Soldier, you must live them. FM 1 discusses Army contributions to the joint force. As the Armed Forces achieve even greater joint interdependence, the Army will depend more on the other Services and vice versa. For this reason, the Army is currently transforming its units and institutions to enhance our campaign qualities for sustained operations and to achieve greater expeditionary and joint capabilities. It is important for Soldiers and all who support or are associated with the Army to understand these contributions and how the Army is transforming to better meet its...

...Analyzing Ava ta r: A Rev iew Essa y Nekeisha Alexis-Baker By the time I decided to see James Cameron’s Avatar, I had already heard enough about the film to be unsure whether it would be worth the time, effort and petroleum to see it. People’s comments about the film ranged from praise for its groundbreaking 3D animation; to criticism of its racist portrayal of the indigenous; to disappointment with the overly predictable storytelling; to appreciation for its critique of colonization and civilization. I even heard complaints from fellow peace church Mennonites about its overwhelming use of redemptive violence. After seeing the film through my Christian anti-civilization (anti-civ) anarchist vegan antiracist woman of color lenses, my sense is that Avatar is more complex than many of its detractors or advocates acknowledge. Set on the planet Pandora, Avatar is a sci-fi story of a mercenary-backed corporation’s attempt to confiscate and mine the land inhabited by humanoid aliens known as the Na’vi. Enter Jake Sully, the paraplegic U.S. marine protagonist who joins the science and anthropology wing of the operation as a substitute navigator for his deceased twin brother’s avatar. Early in the film, we discover that the avatar is an expensive high-tech clone that allows its user to temporarily experience and subsequently infiltrate the Na’vi community. After a series of unexpected events during his first avatar excursion, Jake finds himself living amongst the Na’vi clan known as...

This process accelerates the implementation of new doctrine across the force by providing the Army with a completely revised structure of manuals. Doctrine 2015 captures the essential lessons learned from 10+ years of persistent conflict. It leverages a broader range of available collaborative technologies including wiki, interactive media instruction, video books, blogs and social media. Title

...At liftoff, Matt Eversmann said a Hail Mary. He was curled into a seat between two helicopter crew chiefs, the knees of his long legs up to his shoulders. Before him, jammed on both sides of the Black Hawk helicopter, was his "chalk," twelve young men in flak vests over tan desert camouflage fatigues. He knew their faces so well they were like brothers. The older guys on this crew, like Eversmann, a staff sergeant with five years in at age twenty-six, had lived and trained together for years. Some had come up together through basic training, jump school, and Ranger school. They had traveled the world, to Korea, Thailand, Central America... they knew each other better than most brothers did. They'd been drunk together, gotten into fights, slept on forest floors, jumped out of airplanes, climbed mountains, shot down foaming rivers with their hearts in their throats, baked and frozen and starved together, passed countless bored hours, teased one another endlessly about girlfriends or lack of same, driven in the middle of the night from Fort Benning to retrieve each other from some diner or strip club on Victory Drive after getting drunk and falling asleep or pissing off some barkeep. Through all those things, they had been training for a moment like this. It was the first time the lanky sergeant had been put in charge, and he was nervous about it. Pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death, Amen. It was midafternoon, October 3, 1993. Eversmann's Chalk Four...
