Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you were raised with different parents or in a different school? Well… The ability to know whether heredity or environment affect the development of intelligence more is a subject that is more than just hard to be able to pinpoint. The problem with trying to separate the roles of genes from that of the environment is that controlled, perfect experiments are neither practical nor ethical (Ciccarelli and White, 2015, p 281). An example given from the book went into explaining the difference between twins when raised together or raised separately. Twins are often raised together but the smaller fraction of twins that are raised separate more often than not have similar IQ scores. However, they will still typically match closer to their adoptive parents than birth parents for the environmental influences. However, environmental influences tend to be less important over time. Heredity tends to be more of a factor for the development of intelligence than the environment.
A stereotype threat is an idea that our behavior worsens when we are reminded of a negative stereotype about us. Because of stereotype threat, students are reminded of a negative stereotype and are often more likely to perform worse, especially if that stereotype is one that makes them feel inferior. You have the choice to ignore the stereotypes and prove those people and their stereotypes were wrong. However too often people allow the stereotype to get to their heads. They allow other people to let them play worse than they would have without the negative stereotypes floating around.
Annie Duke was involved in a male dominant sport. She would sit down at the poker table with all other men, and take all the wrong things the men would say to her or about her. If anyone was was subject to stereotype threat it was her. In the podcast, she describes

...Writing Assignment #1 – Segmentation and Consumer Research This paper examines research on segmentation and consumer behavior. Consumers can be described using geographic, benefits sought, psychographic, and behavioristic dimensions, yet demographic factors continue to be top of mind predictors or explanations of shopping patterns. Consumer segments are often described using demographic characteristics such as age, gender, race, ethnicity, income & education, and many demographic stereotypes exist about what and how consumers buy. Some stereotypes are close to the behavioral reality of today, while others are not. This paper challenges you to examine current research on segmentation and consumer behavior and shopping data from the MRI Reporter Database. To learn about recent research on segmentation and consumer behavior, particularly the demographics of age, gender or race/ethnicity, access the Business Source Premier database available through the Temple University library website and locate at least two relevant academic articles published since 2000. Relevant academic journals include Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Behavior, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Consumer Affairs, and Young Consumers. Week One Assignment: Writing

...When you’re writing anything beside you free write which you really don't have to show to anyone because it's meant for you to read. But when you’re writing anything you always want to think about your audience first because they are the ones who will be reading you work. Lets say you writing a children's book you don't want to write something about someone getting hit by a car, how much they was bleeding and they lived to see another day. It might sound nice that they lived but this is not the type of book you would want children reading at a young age can scar them. You want to make sure that the way you’re speaking in a children's book is sweet, nice, and fun for them to be happy. Now for another example if I was writing a movie script I would have a bigger audience, I would want to choose what type of move am I going to write if it's a comedy I would want to make sure the stuff I'm writing is funny something you can go home to and crack a joke about it to one of your friends. If it is a documentary then I'm going to want to make sure that I have all the details about that I'm talking about so it is a quick movie and no one really understood what I was talking about. Your audience is your key to anything you write its best you think about how you want to speak to them threw your...

Written Assignment 1: the Psychology of Writing

...announcement, upcoming activities, and prayer list. Occasionally, I had to submit letters within the bulletin for the parishioners of a detailed message I wanted to portray. The bulletin provided communion between the church and the parishioners. It was also an important way to present the church to new visitors. That is why making the bulletin required several steps that were necessary to help me along the composing process. My writing process started by gathering all letters, memos, announcements, and scheduled appointments for that week. By doing so I gathered information that I would later use to compose my work. I discussed with the pastor and wrote down everything he wanted to make reference to in the bulletin. These notes usually gave me a foundation to know how and where I should begin. The bulletin was done in a chronological order. This made it easier for me to organize my topics and themes according to upcoming events. Each topic was covered briefly and in simple paragraphs. On the back of the bulletin I provided a full page of Reflection. My writings varied depending on the season and feasts of the church and often included a scripture. This was a way that would prepare the parishioners and help them enter that special time. Considering my audience my tone was friendly and interactive. Generally, I had to do my own research on the scriptures and based on my own sincerity and knowledge I would compose my work. By editing my work I would become aware of changes...
