Watching Less TV
Assalamu Alaikum everyone. I am Sayeda Anika Amin and I’m going to talk about the topic ‘Watching Less TV’. Nielsen research of America showed that the average American watch TV an average of 5.1 hours a day. 5.1 hours a day is nearly 2000 hours a year or 78 days i.e. 2.5 full months. Even though these figures reflect the American population, the figures for other regions don’t deviate much. With all this time spent watching on TV, I wonder how we even have time to do anything else! Just imagine if we would have spent the fraction of this time working on our goals, we’d already be making so much headway in our goals by now!
Watching TV actually slows down our brain. Since TV is a one way medium, we don’t engage and interact while watching it. Rather we only sit and watch which make us sluggish and inert. Imagine spending most of the time in front of TV everyday-it’s a matter of time before you turn into a zombie. It’s not co-incidence that heavy TV watchers are also stagnant and passive people. Finally I would like to end with a quote, Groucho Marx, a famous American comedian and a film star once said, “I find Television very educational. Every time someone switches is on I go into another room and read a good book.”

In the countries of Southeast Asia, divorce and separations are still looked upon as negative practices, but Bangladesh over the years has suffered a massive boom in the divorce rate. So, what is the reason behind this? Well, reasons are a plenty. Some of the reasons may be 1). Abuse in all forms (physical, sexual, emotional), 2).
