Ancient Olympic Games
The games were first held as a religious festival in honor of Zeus, the father of the Greek Gods and Goddesses. The Sanctuary of Zeus was named after Mt. Olympos, the highest mountain in mainland Greece. When the games fist began to become a recurring event, they occurred every four years for almost twelve centuries. All free Greek men were signed up to play in the olympic games, regardless of social status. Married women were neither allowed to participate or watch the games. Non married women, however, were welcome to watch.

...Noah Brasseur - 4/24/12 - Nader Shah (1688-1747): Nader Shah ruled as Shah of Iran (1736-47) and is best known for his military genius. He is compared to some of the great military strategists like Alexander and Napoleon by historians. Nader came into power during a time of anarchy after the rebellion of the Afghans (1719) had overthrown an unstable Safavid dynasty. Russians and Ottoman's also began to claim territory in northwest Iran.  Nader started the re-conquest of Persia by driving the Afghans out of Khorasan by 1729. Current Shah of the time Tamasp II lost lands in Armenia and Georgia battling against the Ottomans. This angered Nader, who was making much progress in recapturing Persia, and led him dispose Tamasp and Shah while promoting his son to power. Not soon after, Nader recaptured lost lands to the Russians and Ottoman's and was named Shah thereafter. Nader decided that he didn't want to return to former Persia and as a result he cut off members of the Safavid dynasty. After invading India and achieving great success, Nader had reached the zenith of his career. Though after this point, he became more much paranoid. While in India, he relegated his son to rule Persia in his absence. Having heard rumors of his father's death, he began to prepare for his own rise to power by murdering family members of Tamasp's family.
