A. The training department of a company wishes to determine if there is any difference in the performance between the workers that have completed a training program and those that have not completed the program. A sample of 10 trained workers reveals an average output of 74.3 parts per hour with a sample standard deviation of 16 parts per hour. A sample of 10 who have not been trained has an average output of 69.7 parts per hour with a standard deviation of 18 parts per hour. Is there evidence of a difference in output between the two groups, at 5% level of significance?
Answer:
Group | n | mean | s | Trained Workers | 10 | 74.3 | 16 | Not have been trained | 10 | 69.7 | 18 | I. Ho: µtrained = µnot trained
Ha: µtrained ≠ µnot trained

II. Alpha: 5% = 0.05 III. t-test , 2-sample, 2-tailed IV. tcomp = x1 – x2 s12n1-1+s22n2-1[n1+n2] |

n1+n2-2 n1n2 | | tomp= 74.3-69.7 [16210-1+18210-1 [10+10] |

10+10-2 10(10) | |

tcomp= 0.61
V. tTAB= 2.101 df= n1+n2-2 = 10+10-2 = 18

VI. Decision: tcomp(0.61) < tTAB(2.101) DO NOT REJECT Ho

VII: Conclusion: There is no enough evidence that there is any difference in the performance between the workers that have completed a training program and those that have not completed the program. B. The American Automobile Association (AAA) claims that the average daily cost for meals and lodging when vacationing in Texas is less than the same average costs when visiting Washington State. Answer:
I. Ho: µTexas = µWashington Ha: µT < µW
