Life of Jesus Christ
Jesus was born more than over 2000 years ago in the town of Bethlehem in Israel. His mother was known as the Virgin Mary as she was said to have been impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ father was Joseph, Mary’s husband however; he was not the father of Jesus. For the first 30 years of his life, he maintained a normal Jewish lifestyle working as a carpenter. Not much is known about Jesus from the time he was born until he began his public teachings.
When Jesus was in his thirties written recordings of his teachings and his miracles began. Over a three-year period, he spread God’s message teaching such lessons as:
• God loves you
• Make sure to love one another
• Be sure to value of each person
• kingdom of God has come to earth
• realizing the judgment of heaven or hell
• God forgives everyone who asks for forgiveness
Jesus traveled no more than two hundred miles from his birthplace, and there was really no need to as the spread of his message was heard everywhere. Jesus was a very controversial figure during his time and he angered many religious leaders claiming to be God. During trials, even though the Romans found him not guilty of any wrong-doing as well as the Jewish counsel, aside from his claims to be God, finding him to be in compliance with the Jewish laws he was still tortured and made a spectacle of by being hung on a cross and left to die (Stringer, 2006).
According to over 500 witnesses that stood vigil over Jesus, he was claimed to have risen from the dead after three days. This gave solidarity to his claims of being God and the number of his followers dramatically increased into the thousands within several months.
