You cannot be half safe. If you are only half safe then you are not safe. If you are safe then you are not in any danger. You are not safe until you are completely out of danger. The Bible says those who have trusted Christ are safe. The Bible is either right or wrong. We are safe or we are not. I believe the Bible. While...

...7 Facts About the Seventh Day Adapted from Why God Said Remember by Joe Crews. Part of Satan s strategy to destroy humanity s trust in God has been to attack His claim as the Creator. Obviously, the theory of evolution is part of this deceptive and soul-destroying effort. With its amoral humanistic emphasis, Darwin s doctrine has turned millions into religious skeptics and enshrouded in darkness their need for the Savior. Yet while many Christians rightly denounce this unscientific belief, ironically, many are still falling into the devil s trap of denying God s sovereignty over the earth. That trap is the ages-long effort to twist and destroy the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath. Through Satan s false information and man s trust in traditions over the sure word of Scripture, millions of Christians have been led to discount or even reject the importance of observing the Sabbath. “The seyenth day is the sabbath of the Lord: in it thou shalt not do any work (Exodus 20:10). No one disagrees with the clear meaning of this text, yet millions are finding ways not to follow it. Why? The general Bible ignorance of the church and the clever arguments of Satan have created a climate of prejudice against the holiness of the seventh day in favor of the observance of Sunday. So in the interest of promoting God s law over the theories of men, let s take a moment to rediscover some amazing facts about the seventh-day Sabbath. Fact #1: ‘ The Seventh-day Sabbath...

God's Surprising Choice

...BAPTISTWAY PRESS® Adult Online Bible Commentary By Dr. Jim Denison, Pastor, Park Cities Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas Studies in 1 and 2 Samuel: Following God in Changing Times Lesson Four God’s Surprising Choice Focal Text 1 Samuel 9:1-4, 15-21; 10:1, 9-24 Background 1 Samuel 8—10 Main Idea God’s choices for people to serve him in specific ways can be surprising when measured by merely human standards. Question to Explore What opportunities are we missing because we are viewing people and situations from our limited human perspective? Quick Read God can use anyone who is yielded to his will. ________________________________________________________________________ Commentary Perhaps you’ve heard about Satan’s garage sale. All his tools were on display, their prices marked. Murder, anger, lust, greed, and others were available. At the end of the table was an isolated tool, more worn than any of the others. It was unnamed, but its price was the highest of anything on display. Someone asked Satan what it was. “Discouragement,” he replied. “Why is it priced so high?” “Because no one knows it’s mine.” If Satan cannot get us to refuse God’s call to service, he’ll seek to discourage us in that work. He’ll cause us to feel inadequate for his purposes, insufficient for his use. ...substitute while showing the supernatural powers of God. The truth of the Scriptures can be proven through many different arguments-from historical evidence to the unique person of Jesus Christ. And how Christians choose to live their lives is important if we are to show Christ to the world. II. Section one: Did Jesus need to be born of a virgin? The answer to this question is absolutely! First, by Jesus being born of a virgin, God allowed the uniting of a fully human and fully divine nature into one person (Grudem, 1994, p.1). It helps us to more clearly understand that He was fully human, because He had an origin/birth like we did. Yet, we can see that He is also fully divine because His conception was supernatural. Secondly, through the virgin birth, Jesus was born without a sin nature, and this allowed Him to be the spotless, perfect sacrifice for our sins that God required. The sin nature is passed from the father to his child (Romans 5:12). Since Jesus had no earthly father, He did not inherit a sin nature like we did. He was able to remain sinless. God tells us in Genesis 3:15 that the seed of the woman would destroy the serpent. God made this come to pass through His own power with no human effort involved (Grudem, 1994, p.1). This is yet another way to show us that salvation cannot come through any of our own efforts, for they are useless and offensive to God (Isaiah 64:6). Our salvation can only come through the supernatural life, death, and resurrection of Christ. Lastly...

Why We Born

...Have you ever wondered why you exist, why you were born? Have you ever suspected there isn't a purpose to life at all? What is the meaning of life? Is there anything beyond this physical life? If you've ever pondered questions like these, you're not alone. Mankind has pondered these questions for millennia. Philosophers, scientists and theologians have tried to resolve them, but with confusing and contradictory results. Can you know the answers to these questions? Yes, you can! The astonishing answers can be found in the pages of your Bible. Did you know that the main reason the Bible was written was to explain how God is creating His own family, the sons of God? It is amazing how few people grasp this incredible truth, yet it is so plain in the Bible. At the beginning of the Bible is the account of the creation of Adam and Eve. All human beings are their descendants. We are, by natural descent, their great, extended family. Adam was, according to his natural parentage, a son of God (Luke 3:38 ). Therefore, in our natural descent, we are all the children of God. He is our Father by physical creation. Creating immortal children But God's purpose is far greater than the creation of corruptible and perishable human beings. God is in the process of creating His own spiritual children who will be incorruptible-children with eternal life who have His divine nature or character. He refers to this new creation in terms of "the old man," in contrast with "the new man," who is...

Methods of Evangelism

...sharing the Gospel which uses an orderly method in laying out the plan of salvation through Bible verses in the book of Romans. It establishes who needs salvation, why we need salvation, how God provides that salvation, how can man respond to Gods provision of salvation, and the result of man responding to Gods salvation. The benefit of using the seven verses is that they are all located in the book of Romans. This method the Bible verses are ordered into a straight forward teaching that is easy to outline to a person that you may be trying to share the Gospel with. Initially the case is established who is in need of salvation, (everyone), then . “As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” (Romans 3:10-12 New International Bible {NIV}). “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23 NIV) In these few verses we establish the fact that everyone is unrighteous before God and in need of Salvation. After establishing the need for salvation “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 NIV). The result of our sin is death. God however provides a way for our salvation “ But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NIV)  If you declare with your mouth...

Anthripology: Marriage and Divorce

...Amy Strickland MLA September 14, 2014 Dr. Alan Bandy THEO 202 B02 Anthropology: Marriage and Divorce I do have to say that I may not have personal experience with marriage but I do know what the bible has to say about it, and that is ultimately what matters. The modern view on marriage tends to be that of lesser importance. If it does not work, then no big deal because there is always the option of divorce. This view usually has the effect of not taking holy matrimony seriously because there is a backup plan. When things go wrong couples are just giving up. God never said marriage would be easy, but He is there to help us every step of the way. Marriage is between one man and one woman for life, and there is only one reason that a couple should ever get a divorce, according to the bible. The bible gives us the guidelines for marriage and how it is supposed to look and work. Almost all marriages had to have the parent’s approval, and were more a matter of convenience rather than for love during bible times. (Elwell 741) Girls were usually between the age of twelve and seventeen; while boys were between fourteen and eighteen. (Elwell 741) The husband was responsible for providing for his family, and the wife was responsible for having child and talking care of them and the house. According to Elwell, matriarchal marriage occurred when a man went to live with and became part of his wife’s family. (740) Also, a “‘Betrothal’ was a legally binding...

...Luke 16:1-16:18 How Much Can God Trust You? Luke 16:1-18 INTRODUCTION After spending the past few weeks studying the Parable of the Loving Father (sometimes called the Prodigal Son), we arrive at chapter 16 to find one of the most unusual parables Jesus ever uttered. Some Bible teachers merely skip over it or ignore it. I call it the parable of the Crooked Manager. It’s a story about an employee who “cooked the books” for his employer. He used dishonest methods to give an accounting of his company’s assets. It reads much like a deposition from the Enron! It’s a parable about money, which shouldn’t be surprising because of the 38 parables Jesus told, 19 of them dealt with handling possessions. Baptism is important, but there are 16 times more verses in the New Testament on handling money than are devoted to baptism. The Lord’s Supper is important, but there are 32 times more Biblical statements about Christian financial management than about the Lord’s Supper. Since Jesus had so much to say about it, we’d better pay attention. I hope you know you can trust God–but when it comes to handling God’s money, how much can he trust you? Keep your Bibles open because we will read each section of scripture as we discuss it. First, we will consider: I. THE PARABLE: THE GOOD EXAMPLE OF A CROOK (1-8) Let’s just read the parable beginning in Luke 16:1: Jesus told his disciples, “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions. So he called him...

Let’s break this down for a minute first of all give means to 2 Cor. 9-7 dotes; a giver, bestower. Gives means: to present voluntarily and without expecting compensation; bestow The Bible mentions money over 800 times, I know people get squeamish when you mention money in the church because they see so many that are greedy and so many that have been taking advantage of but it is not ok for believer to shy away from a subject because of false teaching that is the reason to address it, to call it out that are not ignorant but we are going back to the word if there is a doubt a question a cause for concern it is time for us to take these things back to God. The world is supposed to come to the church not the other way around but so many in the church are beat down, broke and discouraged. 2 Corinthians 9 New International Version (NIV) 9 There is no need for me to write to you about this service to the Lord’s people. 2 For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action. 3 But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be. 4 For if...

...Egyptian demons, but only Job is adhered to worship the God purely. The most ancient tradition believed that Moses is the author of this book. Many Jewish and early Christian scholars also agreed with this proposition. It is because the style of Job is very similar with the Pentateuch. So, the time of writing should be estimated around 1500 BC of the Patriarch Period. Most of this book (3:1-42:6) is a form of play or epic written. The front (1:1-2:13) is a prelude and (42:7-17) is the end. These two parts is written in prose form. Job not only teaches a great truth. “The Book of Job deals with one of man's oldest questions: Why do the righteous suffer?” (Massimiliano) Although this book deals with the fundamental question "Why do the righteous people always suffer unfair disaster?”, this is not the main focus. The main focus is on: “When God does not answer why the righteous people are suffering, what should the righteous people response to their suffering?” Confidence...

Finding My Place in This World

...design. Simple logic shows humanity that laws exist. But how did these laws happen? Human reasoning should tell us that laws do not just snap into existence without reason. Somehow they have to have been created. Physical laws of science, themselves, give evidence that something started the law into motion. If law exists than a law maker should exist as well. Ray Comfort uses this example “When I look at a building, how can I know there was a builder? You can’t see them, hear them, touch them, taste them, or smell them…..Well the building is absolute scientific 100 percent evidence there was a builder.” (Comfort) The fact that humanity has any form of morality gives credence to something greater than man in this world. Human Identity When you are trying to identify who you are as a human being your origin is of extreme importance. If humanity came from nothing then humanity is technically nothing. No value. No meaning. No purpose. But if God created man that changes those statements over to questions. Who am I? Why am I here? Kent Hovind states something very critical about Evolution or the idea that all of what is came from nothing. “This teaching is dangerous” (Hovind, 2005) The question of who am I, has a new answer with the evidence of God. One of the many answers is Humanity is of importance to God for His own reasons. This...

Bibliology: Inspiration & Inerrancy of the Bible

...Bibliology: Inspiration and Inerrancy of the Bible Dana Peebles THEO 201: THEOLOGY SURVEY 1 Writing Style: APA Professor Gaston July 5, 2014 Well, hello there. I am so glad you asked me why in the world I would be studying the Bible, and how can I possibly consider it to be authoritative. I must say, that when I first started reading it I found that I had more questions than answers and really wasn’t sure of its authenticity myself. However, what I found was that within the pages of the Bible, came forth the very answers I was looking for. For so long, I found scripture confusing and contradictive. But then, I read that “God is not the author of confusion, but a God of peace.” (1 Corinthians 14:33) With that being said, I would love to discuss further with you what it is that I understand the Bible to be. The Bible is an extraordinary book, and it makes some pretty impressive statements. It records details of creation, life, moral laws of God, the history of man’s rebellion against God, and the proclamation of God’s redemption for those who trust and believe in Him. Also, the Bible is God’s revelation to us. If we are feeling lost, it gives us hope for how we should live, why we exist, what happens when we die, and what our meaning and purpose is in life. When you think of the word “authoritative,” it can have several different meanings. The most common one I believe is the fact that we are not in control, and that means we are usually submissive to people or situations...

...ranged from part time, to now a full time position (United States Senate, 2011). Ever since Engel v. Vitale, people have been upset that God has been kicked out of the classroom. Engle v. Vitale was a landmark Supreme Court case, in which it was ruled that the public school could not be started or concluded with a formal reciting of a non-denominational prayer (Bill of Rights Institute, 2010). The following information will show both sides of the argument of if prayer should be allowed in schools. Background information will be given on the history of prayer in school and prayer in congress, and my personal thoughts on this important position. Argument There are many different viewpoints on the argument of prayer in schools. We will begin with the argument of allowing prayer in schools. The United States Constitution protects religious freedom under the First Amendment. The First Amendment states that Congress should not make any law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise of religion (U.S. Constitution Online, 2010). The interpretation of the First Amendment has been the basis for many arguments of how to apply the information to laws on allowing or not allowing prayer in school. Being extremely general in their language, the first two clauses of the Amendment say nothing about how to apply their information. Advocates for including prayer in school have argued for a long time that banning the practice...
