British Airways: Case Study
TASK 1:
The argument between BA and its Merge unionized employees has been long-running and nasty. British Airways passage cottage team is to be balloted again over clean attack activity in their long-running argument with the commercial airline. BA said the past poll organized last 1 month, in which team elected in favor of further attack activity, was illegal. The argument between the commercial airline and the partnership extends back again to delayed 2009, and has already priced British Airways about £150m and led to 22 times of hits.
When the argument started, it centered on changes to employment stages, pay and operating circumstances. However, following the walkouts in Goal last year, BA eliminated the journey discounts of employees who took part in the commercial activity, with some also experiencing disciplinary activity. The partnership says the argument is now about four problems. It wants a recovery of journey advantages incomplete, mediation through Acas of all cottage team disciplinary situations relevant to the argument, and recovery of pay to those truly fed up during the argument. It also wants a complete conversation about how BA has managed commercial interaction within the organization.

History of Avent Garde

...one of the most popular fonts of its time. Despite its popularity, Avant Garde has been over used and very much so abused. It is intended to be used for headlines only. Ed Benguiat, one of Lubalins partners, stated that “. “The first time Avant Garde was used was one of the few times it was used correctly. It’s become [one of] the most abused typeface in the world.” Refrences: King, D. (2009 July 13). A Brief History of Avant Garde. Retrieved from http://www.thinkingforaliving.org/archives/147 Type face in use: Since this type face was created specifically for a magazine it is most easily seen used in their page spreads and other aspects of the design process. http://www.100besttypefaces.com/bilder/023/Avant-Garde-Audi_web.jpg http://www.100besttypefaces.com/bilder/023/avant_garde_cover_web.jpg Full Font Set: Below you can see the full alphabet. I chose to go with dubstep because it is a very avant garde type of music. It’s obscure and very different just like the font avant garde. Alex Sharpe's Portfolio Solution

...to estimate the risk-free interest rate in the market. Estimated Risk-free interest rate = .023% Expected Return (Reynolds and S&P 500) = .023% + .7356 (6.8920% - .023%) = 5.0754% Expected Return (Hasbro and S&P 500) = .023% + 1.41979 (6.8920% - .023%) = 9.7756% The above CAPM calculations demonstrate that riskier stocks (compared to the market), or those with a higher beta, also yield a higher expected return. 5. In what stock(s) (if any) should Sharpe invest? In order to determine which stock/s Shape should invest in, we would have to understand her risk aversion. Reynolds creates a more diversified portfolio, making it a safer investment that also yields a lower return. On the other hand, a portfolio with Hasbro is a riskier portfolio, but it also yields a higher return. Nevertheless, it seems that the difference in yield between Reynolds (5.0754%) and Hasbro (9.7756%) which is 4.7002%, is a lot more significant than the difference in their standard deviations, or riskiness, which is only .0061%. In order to make a more objective decision about which decision is a better investment, it would be useful to calculate the Sharpe Ratio, which measures risk-adjusted performance. Sharpe Ratio = (Expected Portfolio Return – Risk Free Rate)/ Portfolio Standard Deviation Reynolds Portfolio = (5.0754% - .023%) / 12.3638% = .4086% Hasbro Portfolio = (9.7756% - .023%) / 12.3699% = .7884% A higher Sharpe ratio describes how much excess return an......
