...Create an Effective Advertising Plan Product, Price, Place, & Promotion Your marketing plan has positioned your company in terms of product, price, and place. You have made decisions about what market segment you will compete in. You have considered products and services, distribution, pricing, guarantees, quality, policies, etc. You have set objectives and goals. Now it’s time to decide how you will promote your company to achieve those objectives and goals. Define Your Customers. The number one reason advertising fails is because it is poorly targeted. No advertising is going to be successful if its target audience is not well defined and understood. Talk to your customers and potential prospects. Listen to them. Understand them. We have provided you with some excellent strategies for defining your customers. Please read the Market Targeting Strategy and the Generating Better Qualified Prospects chapters. These two chapters will give you insight into defining your customers, and knowing what they need, want, and desire. There are a few things to note here about your customers. First, your target group does not include the whole world. If you try to advertise to the whole world, you will go out of business. Second, in many companies, 20% of the customers account for 80% of sales, and often 100% of the profits. These are the high usage customers that you want to target. Define who they are. Third, one out of ten people strongly influence the...

...Eng 1123 27 January 2013 Practice Essay Three New Year’s Resolutions At the beginning of every year people always have resolutions. These resolutions are set to accomplish something to better that person. Most people think they will come easy and usually they don’t achieve them, but if they would dedicate themselves it would surprise them how much easier it would be. A resolution to me is a challenge to better myself in the year. I have three New Year’s resolutions in order to make 2013 a successful year. My first resolution is to maintain my 4.0 grade point average. I worked hard throughout the 2012 fall semester to have a perfect GPA and accomplished it. Now that 2013 is here I plan to keep my grades up. Accomplishing this resolution will be difficult due to nearly sixty baseball games and practices throughout this spring semester, but I will continue to push myself and come out on top. This is my top resolution because it will help me achieve going on to a four year college and aid being successful in life. The second resolution I have is being a starter on the Hinds baseball team. Dedication is the key to accomplishing this task. I have to work hard and be the best I can be every day. Being surrounded by talented players on my team will make this hard to achieve, but I have to prove that I’m the one of the guys that needs to be in the lineup in order to win. This will be difficult, but by pushing myself I know I can succeed in this resolution. My...

Feminism As Portrayed In My Last Duchess And Barbie Doll

...return, whom she can see. This follows the theme of control that is found throughout the poem. It was men that decided societal rules for the Duchess to follow, and it was a man who judged her actions as impure with a punishment as death for the actions. Although the Duchess died because a man’s rule, it was societal pressures that caused death in “Barbie Doll” by Marge Piercy. At a young age, this girl is given toys that are seen as feminine, and they promoted a hard to reach ideal of what and who a woman is: “...presented dolls that did pee-pee/and miniature GE stoves and irons,” (Piercy 1123). Then, in adolescence, a fellow student told her she was overweight and her nose disproportionate. In contrast, she was a healthy girl. She was smart, strong, and didn’t have any health complications. In her mind, all people saw were her flaws: “Everyone saw a fat nose on thick legs,” (Piercy 1123). She was told to be alluring, yet shy. She was told to be in shape by exercise and dieting. Too soon, she couldn’t hold back her stress. She cuts off her legs and her nose, only wanting to be as pretty as she possibly could. In death, people commented on how pretty she was, possibly the prettiest she’s ever been: “Doesn’t she look pretty? everyone said,” (Piercy 1124). At last, the girl was able to receive the recognition she craved, but she was not alive to appreciate it. The poem’s anapestic trimeter gave the poem a child-like tone. This contrasts morbidly with the grotesque death...

Plagiarism

...Jzmyne Flakes September 7, 2015 Freshman Comp 1123 PLAGIARISM WORKSHEET Using someone else’s ideas or phrasing and representing those ideas or phrasing as our own, either on purpose or through carelessness, is a serious offense known as plagiarism. Using other people’s ideas or phrasing includes written or spoken material—from whole papers and paragraphs to sentences and parts of sentences. This also includes statistics, lab results, art work, etc. “Someone else” can mean a professional source, such as a published writer or critic in a book, magazine, encyclopedia, or journal; an electronic resource such as material we discover on the Internet; another student at our school or anywhere else; a paper-writing “service” (online or otherwise) which offers to sell written papers for a fee. Below is an original passage from a source followed by four passages that paraphrase and/or quote the source. For each of the four passages, identify whether it is or is not plagiarism and briefly explain your answer. This is the original text from Elaine Tyler May’s “Myths and Realities of the American Family”: Because women’s wages often continue to reflect the fiction that men earn the family wage, single mothers rarely earn enough to support themselves and their children adequately. And because work is still organized around the assumption that mothers stay home with children, even though few mothers can afford to do so, child-care facilities in the United States remain...

...Question 12 Page 170 On July 5, 1884, four sailors were cast away from their ship in a storm 1,600 miles from the Cape of Good Hope. Their lifeboat contained neither water nor much food. On the 20th day of their ordeal, Dudley and Stevens, without the assistance or agreement of Brooks, cut the throat of the fourth sailor, a 17- or 18-year-old boy. They had not eaten since day 12. Water had been available only occasionally. At the time of the death, the men were probably about 1,000 miles from land. Prior to his death, the boy was lying helplessly in the bottom of the boat. The three surviving sailors ate the boy’s remains for four days, at which point they were rescued by a passing boat. They were in a seriously weakened condition. a. Were Dudley and Stevens guilty of murder? Explain. b. Should Brooks have been charged with a crime for eating the boy’s flesh? Explain. See The Queen v. Dudley and Stephens, 14 Queen’s Bench Division 273 (1884). a. “The facts found on the special verdict shew that the prisoners were not guilty of murder, at the time when they killed Parker but killed him under the pressure of necessity. Necessity will excuse an act which would otherwise be a crime.”(justiceharvard) After reading this I believe that they did what they had to do in order to survive. They said the boy was weak and wouldn’t have made it anyway. They will have to live with the decision they made but they got to live because of it. b. No, he used it as a means to survive...

Compare and Contrast

...Baleigh Holder Mrs. Withrow English 1123 1 October 2015 Parental influence to celebrity influence Every parent should have the natural desire to raise his/her child as independent and moral individuals. However, it is common for others to be influenced by their surroundings, such as social media sources, television shows, peers, family members, etc. Moreover, these models of behavior definitely contribute to how we form our perspectives of the world. Arguably, parents and celebrities are two of the most influential factors during childhood. Whether they are modeling positive or negative lifestyle choices, parents and celebrities alike face the consequences of those choices, and, subsequently, their children learn from seeing these experiences. Parents are very important when it comes to influencing their children’s lifestyle choices. Being if they live with them, children are with their parents almost all of the time. They teach their children everything from walking, talking, potty training, and etc. Children and young teens watch their parent’s everyday choices. Most parents can be a positive influence for their children, and raise them to be independent and moral. For instance, a parent can be a hard worker, providing for their family everyday, and teaching them that having an education is very important. On the other hand, parents can also show negative influences to young teens. For example, if a parent smokes and drinks all the time, and their children see their...
