3 Instructional Designs Case Study

1. What are the major differences among the three instructional designs?
 DI is an instruction strategy that focuses on content, process, and product. DI modifies and adapts the curriculum based on individual learning needs. The teacher determines individual needs and develops the necessary tools for students to succeed. The student relies on the teacher to make modifications to the learning environment.

 UDL on the other hand is a curriculum designed approach to teaching. UDL focuses on addressing a variety of learning needs and styles of learning and builds the tools right into the curriculum design. UDL requires the student to develop the resources necessary to be successful and in charge of their own learning.

Additionally, I believe that they share similar goals about how students learn and succeed academically. All three instructional designs share the same goal of helping all students succeed, including students with disabilities. Furthermore, all three designs set high standards for student learning by modifying instructional practices, materials, and methods for students to retain information based on their needs and learning styles.

3. Can they be used in tandem with each other to serve the needs of students with mild/moderate disabilities in today’s and tomorrow’s classrooms? If so, how might this be done? Be specific in your response.
I do think the three instructional designs can be used in tandem with each other to serve the needs of students with mild/moderate disabilities in today’s and tomorrow’s classrooms. I think educators can plan the curriculum based on the UDL framework. Educators can use preassessments and surveys to determine students’ level of readiness and interest to engage all students. In addition to using technology and educational videos in the classroom, educators can make instructional videos available to students outside the classroom.
