Subject: Recommendation on Whether Employees Should Use Internet during Working

Recently, many employees have been using Internet and social media for entertainment during company time because of working overload inside Morgan Stanley. I’ve been informed that the corporation is about to draft a policy on banning this improper business behavior. In my opinion, here are the recommendations that should be adopted into the lines.
First, there could be a session that allows employees to leisure. Since the market is competitive, all of us are working very hard for the company’s better performance. Meanwhile, lots of stresses also come to us and we do not have enough time to rest. Therefore, exploring social media is the most common and fastest method for us to relax. A lot of peers of mine tell me that they can be more concentrated after having a break like going on Facebook. An article in one of the 2005 British Journal of Guidance & Counseling states, “The more leisure you do, the better you feel. Less stress, emotionally and physically better.” If employees are given enough time to rest, they will be more focus so that they might not take care of Facebook notification. Why don’t we set a proper time slot to let employees have a break?
The other recommendation is that we could encourage employees to use social media 20 minutes per day for marketing Morgan Stanley. Since the company has many social media official page, the best way to let outsiders know our capacity is to let insiders tell their story with the organization. In BusiDate Magazine, Shani Hartley mentioned in her article “Social Media in the Workplace”, “Technology is a major influence on all aspect of business. It is easy to think of the impact the Internet has had on the globalization of the buying and selling process and consequently it has also had an effect on marketing management.” By using this way, it is likely that more people will know about the Morgan Stanley culture. More investors will be out sources of financing. Compared with worrying about the employees’ working efficiency, we could use the threat to invest more money in the long run.
As mentioned above, instead of banning Internet for personal use, company should set certain time for online surfing. By using Social Media, employees can rest, which might enhance their working quality and efficiency.
