BUS508037VA016-Contemporay Business

Five guys were given birth in 1986 by Janie and Jerry Murrell. The Five Guys name was derived by the founder’s five sons who all have an active role in the company today. Each of the sons has a unique role within the company and that is what helps this business venture to become the success that it is today. From one single restaurant that was lacking space for storage to a blooming franchise that it is today Five Guys has become a role model of how to start a business and become successful. One of the main reasons the chain has become so popular and successful is due to the founder’s philosophy that they take into work each day and deliver to the customers. The original founder, Jerry had decided that they only way the Five Guys would become the best fast food chain is to ensure that no matter what they did not cut corners on service or the food they served to their customers. Another strong point they use is that the customer is the best advertising they can ever have. No amount of newspapers’, radio ads or billboards can advertise as much as satisfied customers words. The amount of people one speaks with on a daily basis and then that person talks to others, was one of the greatest principles/philosophy that made the company into what it is today. So many of the other fast food chains, treat the customers as if they were on an assembly line, nor caring for what they think or feel during their time there. That is one of the reasons Five Guys has excelled in the market and will continue to do so. Even before the first customer walked in and ordered, Janie and Jerry wanted to incorporate into their business plan would under no circumstance sacrifice quality of the product nor short the customer on receiving the best food they could have. After completing the business plan the next step they took was to focus

...Five Guys “Five Guys Burgers and Fries: Ingredients for Success” Company Overview The Five Guys business venture was founded on a few well thought out principles which they saw as a unique way of not only penetrating a competitive market dominated by many other well-established franchises, but also making a name for themselves and expanding their business. The main principle that the Five Guys operated by was, and still is, providing a high-quality product and maintaining that level of quality throughout, regardless. They decided they would never compromise on the quality of the product, and this not only became part of their brand, but also attracted a loyal following. Because he was adamant on regulating, supervising and controlling the standards of production and the quality of the final product, Jerry was not as eager as his sons were on franchising the business (Hatten, 2003). However, after much persuasion by his sons, he gave in. Five Guys ‘philosophy sets it apart from other fast-food chains Jerry had decided that in order to make Five Guys the best fast-food store, he had to make sure that they did not cut corners. One of the Five Guys policies is that the customer always comes first, and that is the code that the Five Guys’ staff works by. They offer nothing but the best for their customers. To achieve this, Five Guys always use fresh buns for their burgers to make them the freshest and juiciest burgers in the market. Furthermore, they also make the perfect...

In Basket

...This assignment was designed put us, the student in a situation where we are placed in the supervisor position. In this assignment put the supervisor in a position of having to pick and choose what tasks to do themselves and what tasks should be delegated out after coming in and finding their basket full of tasks that need to be dealt with. When you obtain the position of supervisor, there is usually far too much for just you to do, therefore it is important to learn what to delegate and who to delegate it to. The most important tasks should be done by the supervisor but as far as things such as someone’s vacation hours and stocking merchandise for the store, those tasks should be delegated out to the assistant manager and to the store clerks. Being a supervisor means being in a role of leadership, logic, common sense, and decision making for yourself, the employees, and for the company. The “in Basket” debate and discussion gives us and our fellow classmates the opportunity to see if we can successfully delegate out certain tasks as a supervisor at a fictitious company. The discussion between me and fellow classmates was a great one and it appeared as though everyone agreed on everything accept for different incidents. The only two incidents where I came across disagreement were in regards to task number 3, and task number 4. These are the examples in which I will be using in this paper as far as disagreeing is concerned. Task number 3 is in regards to the mall hours changing...

Dont Have Any

...For the guys: So, you like two girls. Maybe more, it sucks, torn between them, not knowing which one to go for, right? The bad idea is to go for both (or in some cases, “all”) of them. What I’m here to do is try to help you narrow down which girl you should go for. Not to be mean or picky, but it’s just sort of a guideline. How do I know which one to chase after? More often than not, each of these girls will be different, both in personality or lifestyle. Maybe from different cliques, different cultures, whatever, but I’ll try to go over what I can. Girl #1 - DGAF Chick This is sort of self explanatory… the DGAF girl doesn’t well… give a fxck. She likes to party, flirts a lot, and has fun being single. There’s a good chance that she drinks, hopefully no drugs, but she’s fun to be around. Usually hangs out with a lot of guys, so that could prove, um, “worrying.” The fact that she hangs out with all these dudes can mean that you’ll get jealous, A LOT, and that you’ll get sort of protective of her. The constant flirting also sends off a lot of mixed messages. Do not go for this girl.Chances are, you’ll be happy that it seems like she’s into you up until you find out she’s like that to almost every guy. You got played, son. Girl #2 - The Shy Girl The Shy Girl is usually really cutesy, and usually hangs out with a lot of other cutesy girls too. Probably a little awkward around guys, but in a good way. They’re usually really nice, and actually pretty...

...overall reaction and also talk about something that really shocked me. First of all, after the film ended I had an instant reaction and opinion on the film and it’s subjects. I really felt for the former players who were thrown into this world of big money, fast cars, and women. There were so many influences that affected the way they spent their cash. For example, these guys are thrown into this world as 18-21 year olds that many had never even cashed a check before. Before they even get that first check people are trying to take advantage of that, as agents and bad parents look out for their own interests. These agents take a big piece of the pie, and sometimes cycle money into personal investments without these young men knowing it. On the other hand, parents start taking money from these young men in order to pay off their mortgages and other debt that has piled up. Then the extended family and friends try to get a piece of the pie as well until, like Bernie Kosar, they end up paying for 5 mortgages or 25-50 people’s cellphones, etc. Besides the agents and parents that try to take money from these guys, there are women...

Hello

...Guide to Guys (1995), the introduction of which is included here. Despite its title, "Guys vs. Men" is not a comparative study of these two basic types of males. Men and manhood have been written about far too much already, says Barry. But guys and guyhood are neglected topics, and even though he "can't define exactly what it means to be a guy," Barry's essay lays out "certain guy characteristics" that distinguish his quarry from other warm-blooded animals in the field.   This is a book about guys. It's not a book about men. There are already way too many books about men, and most of them are way too serious. Men itself is a serious word, not to mention manhood and manly. Such words make being male sound like a very important activity, as opposed to what it primarily consists of, namely, possessing a set of minor and frequently unreliable organs. But men tend to attach great significance to Manhood. This results in certain characteristically masculine, by which I mean stupid, behavioral patterns that can produce unfortunate results such as violent crime, war, spitting, and ice hockey. These things have given males a bad name. And the "Men's Movement," which is supposed to bring out the more positive aspects of Manliness, seems to be densely populated with loons and goobers. So I'm saying that there's another way to look at males: not as aggressive macho dominators; not as sensitive, liberated, hugging drummers; but as guys. And what, exactly, do I mean by "guys"? I don't...

Definition Essay: What Makes A True Winner?

...My reason for thinking this is that unlike athletes in other sports who only have to prepare and take care of themselves and their equipment, a rodeo athlete has to ensure that himself, his equipment, and his horses are all in good working condition to be a true winner. Normally when a guy loses at a rodeo it is because he hasn’t spent the time in the practice pen that is needed for winning or his equipment failed him from lack of upkeep, but a true winner comes prepared for the day of battle and never loses but only gets beat from time to...

...really in love and care about the other. No one wants to tell their significant other something important and for the other not to listen or remember. It is like a waste of breathe telling someone something so important to you and them not to even care. That is why most couples who are falling in love tend to actually listen to each other’s personal life. They like finding out what they like and what they don’t like, because what if the guy buys a beautiful bouquet of red roses but didn’t know that the girl’s favorite flowers are sunflowers. To the girl that is turn off because she would have rather appreciated receiving her favorite flower other than the red roses. ...Dale Peterman Reading response 1 “Guys vs. Men” After reading this I would have to agree with him completely. I think that every scenario he used sounds like something I would do. And I am unfortunately 100% a guy. This was a very interesting article to read. One part that I thought was hilarious was the part when he was talking about running the 40 yard dash in the office and he challenged his co-worker. I can relate to this so much because I have a family full of athletes and we have been challenging each other for years in every category of sports. I want to say first off running a 5.77 is extremely slow at any age. But I can just imagine my family members (which are all guys) challenging me to a foot race and actually going outside and doing it. He said guys will take small challenges and that is extremely true. I and my family will argue about who is the best at video games because that just what guys do. But on the other hand I have a few uncles who would never waste their time to sit down and play a video game. Because that isn’t something that men usually do. He also mention that men are more serious than guys which is very true my uncle usually doesn’t talk but when he does he means business I would categorize my uncle as a man. But when he said that guys cheat I would have to disagree with him on that simply because I feel like I do all the things that he would consider a guys does but at the same time I have never cheated on...
