5 Year Old Me Research Paper

In many ways 5-year-old me and me, as I see myself today, are very similar in terms of psyche. If by some bizarre anomaly five-year-old me were to meet the current me as I am today he would hopefully be overjoyed that I stayed true to my nature. He would also probably remind me to let go every once in a while and have fun. Both present me and five-year-old me are extremely inquisitive, ambitious, and above all compassionate individuals. The only difference between me and that naïve little boy would be the cumulative experience and knowledge that I have acquired since being five. As a five year old I can remember constantly pestering my dad with questions ranging from “Why are trees green?” and “Why is the water blue?” to the occasional “Why is your hair turning grey?”. …show more content…
The ambitions I had as a five-year-old were, like any kid, farfetched to say the least. I can clearly remember wanting to be an astronaut, a double agent, and the president all at once when I grew up. Although I now realize that this is no longer a feasible option, today I still aspire to be extraordinary, but within the context of altruism and my ultimate goal of helping people. Currently I have chosen medicine as my career route, however I don’t believe this limits me in discovery or excellence in my other areas of interest like linguistics, invention, or robotics. The one thing that has completely stayed the same about me since I was 5 would be my compassionate temperament. I have always had a gentle heart and unique sense of empathy that drives me to be hyper aware of others emotions and

As I read this short story in the beginning, the gist of what I have captured the narrator writing is whether the man with a strange habit does really exist or not. Or, if he did exist who was the man that was hitting the narrator in the story on the head without stopping. It sticks in my mind wondering who the strange man was to the narrator. Somehow, despite the agony of trying to understand the motive underlies the story; I was at first wondering what was the strange man had gone through actually and somehow I could feel the strange man’s plight humorous. Was it a medical condition that was driving him crazy? It’s rather hard for me to really understand the whole point of the story until it came to the end and after repeating reading it a number of times. Based on the description the narrator...

...the populations like and sometimes dislike for these new smart phones. One of the major problems occurring with cell phones in modern times is that people use them at inappropriate times, such as when they are checking out of a grocery store. Academic Success

...university has to offer we may not be as successful as we can be. Beginning my educational journey at the University of Phoenix and taking GEN200 has helped me refresh my learning abilities, learn some new critical thinking skills and has helped me in taking the beginning steps to achieve success in my education and eventually in my career. Setting long and short term goals is the key to academic success. Creating realistic long term goals such as graduating college gives us something to work towards and creates the ultimate goal. Setting short term goals such as finishing a paper early, getting all of the reading for a class done or getting an A in a class brings us one step closer to achieving the ultimate goal. Short term goals will always help bring us to our long term goal without it becoming overwhelming and working toward that goal one step at a time. One way to help achieve a short term goal of succeeding academically is the writing process. Getting your thoughts on paper, completing research, working on a thesis and outline is a great way to get organized and have a solid foundation for an assignment. Working on some free writing and creating a solid introduction and conclusion will help the rest all fall into place. Eventually this will also apply in your career. Being able to express your ideas and being able to research a topic or idea you need supporting information...

Laptops

...all question I heard from consumers who were looking to buy a new laptop. Laptops have become a necessity to many these days. With a technological world that is rapidly expanding, desktops have become out-of-date, and consumers are demanding laptops with grand capabilities fit into a small package. The vast amount of options out there give consumers a variety of options to choose from. Consumers demand different qualities from their laptop whether it is processing, durability, battery life, display, and a variety of other options. This paper will discuss the present displays being used in stores to promote the products, what consumers voice in terms of what they want in a laptop, and primarily what brands can do to further help their sales. For this specific paper, I will be looking at Dell as the targeted brand. Dell was once the dominant presence is the computer industry, but their market share is diminishing constantly. My goal in this research is to determine what Dell is doing wrong if anything, and what they can do with their brand and products to regain their lost market share. The first store I stopped out to see their laptop display was Best Buy. Best Buy is one of the leading electronic stores in the nation, and is on the market as one of the top retailers that consumers shop at for electronics. The clerks there are tech savvy, and are helpful in answering any questions consumers may have as they are highly educated on their wide range of products. The computer center...

Pedophilia

...Abstract In recent years religious groups, policymakers and psychologist have debated information regarding the psychosexual disorder called Pedophilia. Most people agree that this disorder deserves attention, and there are very negative stigmas associated. California Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Democrat, wants to federalize a state law to protect pedophiles. In October 2013, the top cleric in Poland’s Roman Catholic Church said parents share blame for certain cases of pedophilia. Recently, Iranian legislature approved a law that will allow girls under the age of 13 to marry as long as the permission of her father is granted. This research paper will examine the historical, cultural, and psychological information regarding pedophilia and how this disorder is viewed in a modern society. This research paper will also examine the prevalence, causes, and treatment of this disorder. Exploring the World of Pedophilia Pedophilia, also spelled paedophilia, psychosexual disorder in which an adult has sexual fantasies about or engages in sexual acts with a prepubescent child of the same or opposite sex. (Britannica, 2013) The American Psychiatric Association has included Pedophilia in its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders since 1968. (Blachard, 2010) This research paper will explore the historical, cultural, and psychological information related to the disorder of pedophilia. ...to gravitate towards this type of research topic. My father’s younger brother had everything going for him – new wife, family. He suffered from alcohol abuse and at the age of 22, committed suicide. As an oldest child, I developed a propensity to self-medication in my early twenties and thankfully out grew it, but others are not so lucky. The question, “What role does birth order play in likelihood of occurrence or recurrence of substance abuse?” is interesting to me and I really did not know what to expect! With no preconceived theories, I remained open to all possibilities that research would show. For choosing research sources and materials, peer reviewed journals are considered unbiased, for the most part, and are respected resources for writing a research paper. There are of course top-tier journals and also vanity journals, but peer reviewed articles that are vetted by objective experts are normally considered very good sources for research projects. The authors are typically scientists and researchers in the field of study, and the content is closely reviewed and evaluated by other experts who will question research methods and findings. Scholarly journals like Journal of Alcohol and Drug Dependency and Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology are considered reputable journals in the field and were chosen for their reputation. One problem with the study of birth order and substance abuse is that some of the research is fairly old. The...

Somehow the admissions office brought my application to the attention of the late Dr. Sagan, and he actually took the initiative and care to contact me. He was very inspirational and a most powerful influence. Dr. Sagan was as great as the universe, an effective mentor. Until Every Piece Fits

...conceptualize what a complex disorder it truly is. I was in kindergarten and like any other five year-old, I was curious about how other people acted. I noticed that some kids were more socially isolated than others, had trouble making friends or even playing with others. I noticed that when it got really loud, or whenever we were doing an activity involving a lot of tactile input, certain kids would pull away and repeat certain behaviors. One particular kid would hunch his back, hyper-extend his fingers, shake them vigorously, as if to dry them off in absence of paper towels, and rock back and forth on his heels. These types of behaviors were relatively commonplace in my experience and I accepted them as absolutely harmless. I had seen the calming affect these rituals had on my classmate. My five year-old self was unknowingly picking up on behaviors that were the hallmark of autism. I attended an elementary school that was located in the autism hub of the county; so several students with autism were mainstreamed, or assimilated, into my classes. These students were not the majority. Rather, neurotypical students, a term used to describe children without a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder, composed the majority of our school’s population. As I have received more schooling and worldly experience, I have come to know and love the autistic community. I even chose a career path that will lead me to help treat children with autism as an Occupational Therapist. As I set out on my journey...

...RESEARCH PROPOSAL ON EXPLORING THE EFFECT OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES ON SPORTS PARTICIPATION Introduction This research paper has the intension to investigate the effect of the Olympic Games on sport participation especially for primary school children. This paper will identify the target population, the sampling methods used, methods of data collection and methods of administration. Thus help the city of Edinburgh council to have a general picture of following points: 1) Provide a detailed mapping of the current level of sports participation and the intention for the future 2) Identify the aspects of the games that have been most memorable/ produced greatest impression 3) Explore potential association between impressions from the games and future sports activities. The council is concerned that the findings should be representative of the Edinburgh school children in general, and suggests that age, gender, existing level of sports engagement being important predictors of research result. To generalize from the sample to the population, the sample has to be representative of the population. Observation before the survey I plan to begin with exploratory qualitative techniques: observation of selected primary students to understand the problem and bringing to the surface issues in the research project. This activity often help crystallize the problem or otherwise open the researcher’s eyes to factors and considerations that might be overlooked if he rushed into a full-scale survey. The...

Math Concepts

...Have you ever wondered if math can be a subject found in the Bible? In taking this class, I began a journey that made me consider the subject from a Biblical standpoint. According to Merriam-Webster.com, the definition of mathematics is defined as, “the science of numbers and their operations”. In this paper, we will evaluate three different occasions where math references were used in the Bible. The first point that we will be looking at is how addition can be found in the Bible. The book of Genesis presents an example of how addition played a role. “And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; called his son Seth: And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred years: and he died.” (Genesis 5:3-5, King James Version) It is clear from the picture painted above that 130 years are added to 800 years to equal the complete years Adam lived, which was 930 years (Keister, 1982). The Lord could have enlightened the author’s mind to publish that Adam lived a long life. However, the author explained in detail how many years Adam lived before and after the birth of his son, Seth. Furthermore, one can conclude that this detailed description was placed with the purpose of helping the reader to see the mathematical aspect behind it. The second point we will be discussing in our search for mathematical wisdom in...
