9/11 Persuasive Speech

Personally I believe that future generations should not be educated about 9/11 at all. It's been about 17 years since 9/11 and every year people remember back to the day it happened and people constantly talk about it. There are people that lost close friends and family during that time and sometimes don't want to be reminded of the one that they lost. Future generations shouldn’t be taught about 9/11 in school unless in history class. It shouldn’t be taught on one specific day because if everything that happened in the past was taught on the same day of its occurrence then it would makes things harder and just wouldnt be taught efficiently. 9/11 should be just like anything else in history. Behind us and forgotten about. Every single year

...You are no stranger to the paparazzi. You grew up around the withering gaze of the public simply because of who your parents are. After all, you are the eldest and only son of Oliver and Katherine Wood. Unless, someone had been living under a rock all of their lives, they knew that Oliver and Katie had previously played for Puddlemere United. It was simply assumed that quidditch was in their blood. People made assumptions about you from the time you were a lad because of who your parents were. However, you and your siblings weren't raised to be entitled. You didn't grow up with a silver spoon in your mouth either. Actually, your parents resided in muggle London. In a neighborhood that had muggle and wizarding families cohabiting with one another in peace. Your parents had wanted you and your sisters to grow up as normally as possible. Contrary to popular belief, the sport wasn't forced upon you or your sisters. You had a natural love for playing quidditch and so your parents supported you. You came onto the professional quidditch scene six years ago now. You knew what it entailed from watching your parents' handle quidditch stardom. However, you are quite certain that you will never be as suave as your old man. As far as you're concerned you do you though. You've always been your own man. You love your family, but you have always been the more reserved one out of your family. You're the only member in the Wood clan to have ever been sorted into Hufflepuff house during your time...

A Rhetorical Analysis of: George W. Bush’s Address to a Joint Session of Congress and the American People

...of Congress, in the wake of the terror attacks upon America on 11 September, 2001. At this time in history, the United States needed direction and support for how it was going to deal with the most costly and bloodiest terrorist attacks in the Nation’s history: the American people demanded the President address the Nation after the attacks, and nine days later, the President delivered his speech. Across the country, emotions ran high in America and many were in constant fear for their lives and their country. “Is another attack coming?” “What will be the next target?” “Could this be the end of the world?” many pondered. Throughout the country the airlines halted service, the New York Stock Exchange temporarily suspended its operations and nearly every television station around the country relayed the latest news covering the latest developments in those uncertain times. The American people prodded answers from their leaders, “Who’s responsible?” “Why did they do this?” “What’s next?” So when President addressed the nation not only did he have to answer those questions, but he also had to quash fears and reinstill a sense of pride and stability in the American people. Hailed by many, “The speech that made the Bush Presidency,” the President utilized several techniques, explicit and implicit, that had effectively neutralized public fears and persuaded the people toward collective action. To understand why the speech was as effective as it was, one has to look at two major components...

Patrick Henry Persuasive Speech

...Patrick Henry’s Speech It is no secret that Patrick Henry was one of the most persuasive men of his time. In fact, his “Speech to the Virginia Convention” was not only his most famous, but also his most persuasive speech. Patrick Henry is attempting to persuade these men to stand up and fight against the British, and in order to do so, he had to use a very strong emotion to move these men. During his speech, Henry asks many rhetorical questions to really get his audience thinking. In one, he asks, “Have we shown ourselves so unwilling to be reconciled that force must be called in to win back our love?” (Henry, 9). Before, in the leading...

...Traditional On Campus Class Welcome to the Traditional On Campus version of Speech 103 Oral Communication! I look forward to getting to know each of you. Over the years, I have learned that many of you dread taking this class (don’t worry I felt the same way when I had to take this class) but I hope that you will find your worries to be unfounded. I work very hard to try to create a comfortable learning environment, primarily because I need you to participate in order for this class to work. This is a participatory-based class where we will all work together to help each other improve our communication skills. Consequently, you will play an active role in your own learning as well as active role in the learning of the other students in this class. Research has shown that when you are an active participant in a class you increase how much you remember as well as how much you can recall after the semester has ended. However, I have found that when you are an active participant in my class you will look forward to coming to each class session and your fears of public speaking will soon decrease. Since this class is participatory, you will find that you will put a lot of thought and effort into this class. Much learning will occur both in class and out side of class. However, while this class is demanding, I hope that you will both enjoy this experience and learn a great deal about communication, how you communicate, and how to be a better...
