...FreeRange Poultry Inc. Lufkin, Texas Consulting Report Steve Illyes, UTA Fall 2013 Dear Mr. Samuel Garcia Following is the Executive Summary of our Consulting Report for your reading pleasure: 1. Background Information: FreeRange Poultry Inc. in Lufkin, Texas specializes in the processing and sale of chicken parts, chicken by-products to large restaurant chains and food companies. Some of its products are also exported overseas. 2. Consulting Tasks: FreeRange Poultry Inc. has retained our consulting services to analyze its production operations and to recommend a monthly production plan that maximizes profits. 3. Approach: We used Lingo 14.0 for the modeling software. It offers great advantages over Excel Solver, such as debugging and syntax correction functions and ease of data entry. After analyzing the process flow, we decided to set-up our model in 3 sections: Section 1: Demand Section 2: Supply Section 3: Process Some of the supplies had to be broken down into products and by-products to accurately model the relationship between products purchased and products sold. This represented a unique challenge, since there is the option to purchase some products vs. using by-products from the process. In the subsequent tables we will......

...THE FEASIBILITY OF A NEW SIT-DOWN RESTAURANT IN VENTURA Presented to the Faculty of the Agribusiness Department California Polytechnic State University In Partial Fulfillment Of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science by John Wassil Winter 2011 Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION Fast food chains have grown at an incredible rate over the past couple of decades. There seems to be a McDonald's or Burger King on every street corner. Fast food offers people in a rush an inexpensive way to grab food whenever they want. In the United States, fast food restaurants accounts for 46.7% of the total food service industry while sit-down restaurants have 39.3% (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2009). This forces sit-down restaurants to target a different market, people that are looking for pleasure and a relaxing experience. The food services industry is considered to be the most known industry in the world. Sitdown restaurants typically offer full menus, which include appetizers, entrees, sides, desserts, and all types of beverages including alcohol. Most restaurants will have a host or hostess that will greet a person as they walk in and show them to the table that they will be sitting at for the duration of their meal. Sit-down restaurants typically will have trained chefs to cook and prepare the meals and servers that will completely take care of any needs that there will be while eating at the restaurant (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2009). It is important to have honest......

Chilean Feasibility Study

...Feasibility Analysis: Chilean Subsidiary Matthew Dommer Cornerstone University Introduction GMS Inc. is a privately held manufacturer of premium outdoor apparel based in the United States. At present, corporate headquarters and the company’s sole 80,000 square foot manufacturing facility are located in Charleston, South Carolina due to shipping port access and the state’s right-to-work status. Raw fabrics are purchased from international vendors and US suppliers and include nylon/natural weaves, Gortex, manufactured high efficiency liners, and down fillers. GMS products are sold through upscale retail outlets generally specializing in performance outdoor apparel used in alpine skiing. Annual sales are at 100,000 units per year with gross revenue of $20,000,000. Total current employees are 100. GMS has developed plans for a new line of outer apparel utilizing a liner made from an Alpaca premium long fiber weave with a Gortex laminate. Alpaca was chosen for its superiority to wool and other natural fibers. It has higher durability, softness, water repellency, and broader thermal properties than wool. It is flexible at very cold temperatures, has inherent stretch for mobility, retains thermal properties when wet, and is hypoallergenic. It is therefore better suited to this intended purpose than most manufactured fibers. As a renewable resource and biodegradable product, alpaca fiber is consistent with GMS environmental policies and offers the opportunity to...

...Paris Ellen takes a mid-day break and enjoys a bottle of Coca-Cola on a warm summer day. She pulls out her Macbook and quickly reviews her notes in preparation for an afternoon business meeting. Ellen is an organic dairy farm consultant for Free Range Foods, an American organic dairy farm. Ellen will attempt to persuade a consortium of business leaders that her agribusiness company is best-suited for the five year, five million dollar contract to provide organic dairy farm products to local school systems in Tokyo. This is Free Range Food’s first attempt to compete on the international landscape. Since the local school systems contract begins in one year, Free Range Food must determine if their company can compete globally while simultaneously maintaining its eco-friendly business operations. Thomas L. Friedman, in The Lexus and the Olive Tree, explains globalization as a movement that enables individuals, corporations, and countries to reach around the globe farther, faster, deeper, and cheaper than ever before. Due to more accepting international trade laws and modern advances in technology business globalization is becoming more common and some will argue a necessary component to sustaining one’s business. This script will discuss four elements Free Range Foods must consider when deciding to whether to go global: 1-analyze the pros/cons of how at least two globalization strategies might apply to their decision 2-identify the factors to be reviewed before going......

Free Range Parenting

...Johnathan Melicia Thomas Riddle Eng. 111 July 2, 2015 Free Range Parenting In the article “ There’s Never Been a Safer Time to be a Kid in America,” by Christopher Ingraham, spring folds the spotlight parents are put on about letting their kids have free range while being unsupervised or having to be by their side while the child is wanting to go somewhere just down the road. This has parents contemplating on letting their child be alone even though there really is no reason to be dwelling over the worst that can happen. Marc Elrich, chairman of the Montgomery County Council’s Public Safety Committee, refers to Ingraham by stating “walked more than a mile on his own to school” and baffled that “All of our parents would have been in jail” if there was a problem with letting your kids walk safely down the road. Thus persuading the fact that kids should be able to be unsupervised because it is safer than it used to be; for example, child mortality rates have decreased, abduction rates have dropped, and children pedestrians being struck in traffic had fallen tremendously. The importance of imagery in this article is used to give the audience a sense of direction in order to see Ingraham’s point of view. He gives a clear analogy of how two siblings, 6 and 10, were walking home when they got picked up by the police and detain them in the car for three hours. Ingraham uses the words “searching for you frantically” to give the audience an image of what the parents would be......

...FEASIBILITY STUDIES: WHY AND WHAT SHOULD THEY ENTAIL? P. Ries Asset Resource Management LLC I have been asked to present a paper addressing feasibility studies, as they relate to consideration of a digester project for large dairies. I am hoping to answer the following questions, so that you, as a dairy producer, can properly address whether or not a digester project fits within your overall business model, that is, successfully managing and operating a large scale dairy operation. As I said, the questions I hope to answer for you are as follows: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. What is a feasibility study? Why is a feasibility study important? What should be included? Who should do a feasibility study? How much should they cost? 1. What is a feasibility study? A feasibility study is an analysis and evaluation of a proposed project to determine if it is a. technically feasible; b. is feasible within the estimated cost; and c. will be profitable. I am focusing my presentation on feasibility studies of digester projects, because that is why I’ve been asked to make this presentation. However, one should be able to use these same concepts when considering any opportunity your farm might consider, especially where large sums of money are at stake. With respect to digester projects, the technical concepts of collecting the cow manure, pumping it into a digester, producing methane gas, and using this methane gas to power turbines, which in turn produce electricity, is a proven technology, and......

By DEL SOCORRO, Patrick GOROSPE, Karen DOCTO, Reniel C. RECIDO, Princess DOMETITA, Joemar REDOBLADO, Levy-lu 23 March 2012 CHAPTER I MARKETING ASPECT INTRODUCTION Nowadays, it’s really hard to think what business to establish because it seems that everything is being already offered in the market by different entrepreneurs. Though it’s hard to think of what business to introduce, the group realized that creating a business is not about creating a new product but it can also be finding of what supply doesn’t equate its demand, and make an answer for it. T-shirt printing has a high consumer demand in the market but there is no sufficient numbers of printing shops that can accommodate the number of consumers that causes delays of the production. Therefore the group decided to establish a printing business to catch that market. The group named the business, “Mass Print”, which means “quantity” or “volume”, since this business aims to reach the demands of the mass (the people), in terms of printing demand. OBJECTIVES The group aims: * To be recognized as premier business in providing sublimation/printing service. * To provide the clients/consumers......
