The basis of the article “Spiraling Upward” by Paul Goldberger, is the celebration of Frank Lloyd’s building, the Guggenheim. The Guggenheim museum opened in New York City in 1959. When it was built, it was a futuristic building that stuck out like a sore thumb around all the basic apartment buildings that surrounded it. Unfortunately the architect, Frank Llyod, died 6 months before the building was finished. After he died, the museum director and other people involved in the Guggenheim Museum vastly changed what Llyod originally designed. On the fiftieth anniversary of the museum, the museum director finally changed the museum to what Llyod had originally intended.
