To be a child can be hard sometimes, but will it also be hard if you are in a good environment with a loving and caring family around you? In the shorty story “Ice Break” by Astrid Blodgett, we meet Dawn and her two sisters. We hear about Dawn, who goes ice fishing with her father and younger sister Janie like many times before. Their mother does not go because of the bad season for ice fishing. “After she and Aunt Helen had told Dad and Uncle Rick it was late in the season and the ice was rotten.” (L. 170) When they are out on the lake to look for their Uncle Rick, when the ice breaks.
