Aaa Framework

...Ghemawat’s “AAA” Global Strategy Framework Ghemawat so-called AAA framework offers three generic approaches to global value creation. Adaptation strategies strategies that seek to increase revenues and market share by tailoring one or more components of a firm’s business model to suit local requirements or preferences. Aggregation strategies focus on achieving economies of scale or scope by creating regional or global efficiencies; they typically involve standardizing a significant portion of the value proposition and grouping together development and production processes. Arbitrage is about exploiting economic or other differences between national or regional markets, usually by locating separate parts of the supply chain in different places. Adaptation Adaptation—creating global value by changing one or more elements of a company’s offer to meet local requirements or preferences—is probably the most widely used global strategy. The reason for this will be readily apparent: some degree of adaptation is essential or unavoidable for virtually all products in all parts of the world. The taste of Coca-Cola in Europe is different from that in the United States, reflecting differences in water quality and the kind and amount of sugar added. The packaging of construction adhesive in the United States informs customers how many square feet it will cover; the same package in Europe must do so in square meters. Even commodities such as cement are not immune: its pricing in different...

...Jack Morrison Final Portfolio Picture #10 Hard Work This picture from the portrait assignment is from my best friend Kevin Chappell doing work in his room in the dark. This picture is especially touching to me for many reasons. I wanted to definitely do a picture of Kevin for the portrait portion of the project I just didn’t know how to go about it and with how this came out I couldn’t be more pleased. Kevin is in his room with the lights off, with one light shining artificial light on his work and his face. This was the actual setting of the picture when I walked into the room so I didn’t have to mess with it too much. I did have to move the light slightly to capture the image and have the lighting where I wanted in the picture. One of my favorite parts of the image is definitely the Bob Marley tapestry you can faintly see in the background. The reason this picture is so effective is because of the stories it tells about Kevin. Kevin’s mom was diagnosed with cancer his freshman year and the entire year he struggled coping with the fact that the cancer was terminal and his mother would eventually pass away. Kevin’s mom eventually passed away in May of 2011 and it was a terrible time in all of our lives. But what this picture shows isn’t that it is what Kevin has done to better himself and this is why I love this picture so much. This year he has a 3.8 this semester and is working out everyday, rather than dwell on a loss and his going out and living his mom’s life for...

Aaa Transport Paper

...AAA Transportation Paper OI/361 Abstract AAA Transportation is an interstate company that focuses on transporting wholesale products in refrigerated trailers around Midwest this company is located in Waukegan,WI. On the other hand, AAA Transportation has new owners that are planning to make some positive changes that can potentially raise the company's growth becoming more successful. The new owners want to add a delivery of nonperishable products, such as canned foods, to their delivery routes, allowing AAA to expand the area they cover and to provide expanded service to their existing customers. Taking in consideration that many of the routes do not require a full load, there would be enough of room to add nonperishable goods. In addition, the new owners plan to provide the delivery at a lower charge than the customers are now paying. Two of the company's employees Vernon and Bud are opposed to the changes of the new owners. Vernon directs the company's drivers and Bud works in the corporate offices. Vernon does not think that expanding the core business is a good idea, while Bud thinks that AAA is not capable of competing with existing companies that provide the same nonperishable products. Vernon and Bud have been with AAA for more than 20 years and both have a high influence between the rest of the employees. This paper will go over the mental model/mindsets including the impact of the two coworkers, the four steps...

Aaa Southwest Merger

...Southwest, headquartered at Love Field in Dallas, uses the ticker symbol LUV and they use all kinds of ways to show that the “Luv” their customers. Southwest has cultivated a corporate culture that focuses on employees and customers having a good time while flying. They carefully select their employees using interviews that involve creative activities and or even asking the recruits to wear tutus. Their training program with karaoke and amusing challenges is designed to socialize the new recruits into Southwest’s fun-loving culture. According to its Web site, its cultural values are “A Warrior Spirit, A Servant’s Heart, A Fun-Luving Attitude.”22 “Southwest’s whole business model is built on a particular approach to managing employees. It’s a big bet they are making that they can swallow AirTran… This is a very different approach, taking thousands of AirTran employees, dumping them into the system and hoping it works. It’s a pretty risky move,” says Peter Capelli, a Wharton management professor in 2010. Cappelli adds that airline mergers are always difficult because integration has to take place while a carrier continues to carry out complex operations. Thousands of employees can’t easily be put through an orientation program in the merger’s short time frame and the information systems supporting the complex operations of two airlines can’t be easily changed.23 In November 2011, Southwest Airlines’ more than 6,000 pilots and AirTran Airways’ 1,700 pilots overwhelmingly approved...
