Marquis's Argument Essay: The Abortion Debate

...By definition, abortion refers to the ending of a pregnancy by removal of fetus from the uterus of the mother before the embryo can survive its own. As an added note, abortion can be categorized into two types. One is natural abortion otherwise known as a miscarriage. In this case, the fetus is rejected by the mother’s body and does not survive to term. In some circles, this considered an act of God and therefore moral. The other is induced abortion. Induced abortion is an act done purposefully for either health reasons or other personal reasons. The last definition is where society has been divided and has caused a monumental debate as the case for and against abortion when done purposefully has ignited society’s deepest outlooks. Many philosophers...

...Savan Patel The most common and unnecessary form of infanticide is an abortion. The abortion rate of America alone is shockingly high and yet increases every year. So why are so many women choosing to end the lives of unborn babies that weren’t even given the chance to live? For most women, the reason is social issues: they may not feel ready or prepared to have a baby, they may be too young or they just view their pregnancy as a mistake. No matter the reason, abortions are not acceptable and we, as Americans, should fight as hard as we can to diminish them just like we would, murder or terrorism. Since abortions have become such an everyday procedure, scientists and physicians have developed many ways to perform them. One way, if the fetus is 12 to 14 weeks old, being through the use of vacuum aspiration equipment. After the women’s cervix is dilated with steel rods, the surgeon forces the cervix open little by little until it is wide enough for contents to be removed through it. A syringe especially designed for these procedures creates a vacuum inside the women and the suction pulls the contents out of the uterus, including the fetus, so that it is on the outside. For the last step, the physician makes sure to scrape the walls of the uterus using a curette and once he is finished, the women is once again without child. Performing an abortion anytime after this period can be dangerous because by this time the uterus and blood vessels are much larger, and if these fluids...

Abortion Is Evil And Not A Pro-Choice

...III December 7, 2014 Abortion Abortion occurs all over the world. The human race foremost instinct is the preservation of life. This instinct has been forgotten since the legalization of abortion. With this being said more than fifty-six million of unborn babies have been killed (10 Reasons Why Abortion is Evil & Not a 'Pro-Choice'). Each abortion killing a doctor, singer, scientist, or an actress. Although many believe abortion is safe and not an act of murder, it is not for it is a very unregulated industry. Also, the human being life cycle starts at the moment of conception, so not only does abortion end pregnancy but a life as well. Abortion is unsafe and an act of murder that should be stopped. Why Abortion Is Wrong

...Abortion is wrong Abortion is wrong. There are many reasons as to why it is wrong. Abortion is murdering a human embryo. If abortion is legal then why isn’t murder? It is both the same in a way. Abortion is a safe procedure but can also be fatal and dangerous if not done professionally. Murder is illegal so I think abortion should be too. It’s taking innocent lives away and it’s cruel. Many people also think the human embryo isn’t a human because it hasn’t been born yet. Many people think abortion is okay and do not think it’s hurting anyone or killing a human being, but there is good supporting information stating that abortion is wrong and why. Abortion is the killing of an unborn human being. The United States government considers unborn...

...ILLEGALIZE ABORTION By: Abirna Senthilkaruniyan “I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is 'Abortion', because it is a war against the child... A direct killing of the innocent child, 'Murder' by the mother herself...”― Mother Teresa. In the twenty first century, laws have changed to establish equality to both men and women in developed nations. The act of abortion, ‘is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy.’ This act became legal in the United States of America in 1973 after the Supreme Court case of Roe vs. Wade. In North America, it is legal to abort a child twenty weeks after conception. The government will permit a woman to have a late-abortion for the following reasons: “(1) if the woman has a serious disease, (2) the pregnancy could endanger her physical/mental health, (3) the continuation of pregnancy could lead to substantial risk to the newborn, (4) if the pregnancy was the result of rape (5) if the socio-economic status of the mother hampers the progress of a healthy pregnancy, (6) if the contraceptive device irrespective of the method used failed.” However, other than the respectable mediums listed above abortion should be abolished. Due to the law, abortion is now a risk to the economy and its future, it also increases the rates of murder and can negatively impact a woman psychologically. If North American countries want to sustain humanity and to continue being economical contributors, influencers and advisors...

Abortion

...Abortion Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Since 1900, abortion has been an act that has been given attention in our society. Abortion is the act of removing a fetus from the mother’s womb. The act has brought about pro-life and pro-choice groups in our country. Pro-life argue that abortion is murder and pro-choice argue that it is not since the fetus is not human. The problem comes in when these two groups do not agree in the legalization of abortion (Opposing Viewpoint Online Collection, 2015). It is true that abortion is not safe and people do not have knowledge about its adverse effects. It bring many complication after the act. The complications are emotional, psychological and physical. 10% of the women in America who go through induced abortion get complications immediately. 2% of these women have major complications. The minor complications include, vomiting, serious pain in the abdomen, bleeding, disturbances in gastro-intestine, fevers and infections. Major complications include, ripped and perforated uterus, complications brought by anesthesia, embolism, convulsions, and injury in the cervix and endotoxic shock (Opposing Viewpoint Online Collection, 2015). Long-term effects of abortion can lead to sterility, mental problems such as guilt, anxiety, grief, emotional numbness or paralysis and drug or alcohol abuse. 44% of abortion patients suffered from nervous disorders this is according to a post-abortion study. Abortion Controversy

...Universidad de las Américas. Mayor in R.R.I.I. EN361-22 Hills Peter Matthew Gálvez Manuel 76251 Abortion Controversy September 22, 2014 Abortion Controversy. Abortion is a very sensitive issue. Many people are constantly debating whether abortion should be allowed or not. Some people think abortion is very bad and that it should not be allowed at all. They think abortion is like committing murder as it is killing the human fetus. Others feel that the parents should have the right to choose and it is not murder until the baby is born. People who think it is bad say that the fetus is something alive, a human being who is partly formed and to do abortion is to kill it and commit murder. The people who think it is ok say that it is not murder until and unless the child is born. I think that abortion has to be seen about which stage the fetus is in. If it is in the very early stage, then it is not murder. But if it has already developed into a larger fetus, it can be considered as murder. There are other times when abortion is also fine. For example if there is a complication in pregnancy and the mother can suffer because of the child, it is ok to do abortion. It is important to understand the various ideas that go behind abortion. The right of an abortion for a mother should be left on her own decision as the mother knows best about her condition. She is going to be the 'host body' for the baby, even though her own, for nine months and according to Thompson, the mother...

Abortion

...*075 Date: 11-22-10 Against Abortion “It’s easier to kill a person than to give a birth.” Is this the logic and reason of women who have abortions? Abortion has always been a controversial topic that has been the subject of debate many times by the pro-life and pro-choice groups. The pro-life group is against abortion while the pro-choice group is the group that thinks the mother should have a choice whether or not to abort a child. No matter what people are arguing about this subject, abortion is and will always be immoral. Even just the thought of an abortion is unethical. I do not approve in abortion because it is bloody and cruel, immoral, and risky for the mother unless the mother’s life is in danger. Many people believe that abortion is not bloody and cruel but a simple, cleanest and quickest process. However, they are wrong. How can we define abortion? Abortion is a removal of a baby from the uterus in order to end pregnancy. It sounds like abortion is taking out of a mother’s womb so that the mother will no longer be pregnant. In fact, it doesn’t sound that simple because whatever the surgery is, it is killing an innocent baby. In the first trimester, surgeons use the suction method to suck the baby out from the mother. At this time the baby is still very soft. When the baby is sucked out, it is a full pile of blood came out (http://www.abort73.com/HTML/AbortionPictures/images/abortion-09-02.jpg). If the abortion is carried out in the next trimesters...

...1 Running Head: Should abortion be legal? Should abortion be legalized or not? BobbieJo Brown PHI103: Informal Logic Profession Erica Veljic July 16, 2012 2 In my personal opinion I am against abortion in all aspects but one. Do you believe that murder is alright? If not then you do not believe in abortion either. A babies heart forms and starts beating in the fifth week of pregnancy, therefore, that makes abortion murder of a child that is less than 5 weeks old. The baby growing inside of you is depending on you, and only you, to bring them into this world. When you make the choice to end that life, you are making the choice to murder another person, who at this point has absolutely no choice in the matter. It’s your responsibility to protect their life. "Abortion is murder". People opposed to abortion strongly believe that abortion takes away the "right to live", and is morally wrong. Though, others for abortion argue that the statement is just a religious belief. Pro-abortionists consider that having an abortion is the women’s’ choice. What makes it judge that abortion is murder? First of all, abortion is the "termination of pregnancy". Stopping the women's pregnancy means to destroy the embryo or of the fetus. To the anti-abortionists, this is the same as slaughtering a baby. They believe that the fetus is a separate human being. To this, pro-abortionists disagree that the fetus is still dependent on the mother until it is actually born. As the...

Should Abortion Be Legal?

...Should Abortion Be Legal? Joseph Morris PHI 103: Informal Logic William Tullis April 29, 2013 If there is one thing that everyone can agree on, it would have to be that no matter where you are in the world, there is always going to be disagreement. Today’s society is made up of such an abundant number of controversial issues. One of the most controversial issues being abortion- the act of intentionally termination a pregnancy resulting in the death of the fetus (Kreider, A. personal communication, March 24, 2011). Abortion is both constitutionally and morally wrong, and should be illegal in the United States in all but two cases: if the mother was raped (and pregnancy was as a result of the rape) or if the mother’s life would be put in endangerment by the pregnancy. Abortion is murder at any stage of pregnancy, and acts against the U.S. Constitution. Not only does abortion harm innocent babies, but abortion also rises the risk of medical complications for the mother. Majority of women who choose to abort regret the decision later in life. There is always a way to prevent pregnancy, and if by some chance pregnancy does occur and the baby is not wanted there are other options besides abortion. “When a murderer kills a woman who is with child; the murderer is charged with two counts of capital murder. Why is this?” (Huffman, 2010). The reason is because a fetus is a person whether he or she is born or unborn. Life begins at conception, since living...

...Should abortion be legal? PHI-103 Legalized Abortion Abortion is not an easy decision. In society today abortion has been a very important issue for thousands of years. Everyone has their own opinions and views about abortion. There are two different types of views, the pro-choice activists and there are pro-life activists. Whatever side one decides to take, the argument seems to be pretty equal. For every point supporting abortion there is a counter-point stating just the opposite. The Pro-choice activists believe that it is the woman’s right to choose whether or not to give birth. There are people in our society who believe that abortion should be illegal. For the people who oppose abortion are called the pro-life. A woman should have the right to do as she will with her body and whatever may be inside. Abortion may not be an easy decision but why be against women who make the choice to have one. For thousands of years women have had abortions and many more continue to make the choice of having an abortion for many good reasons. If the government tries to outlaw abortion it will only force women into doing them in a dark and that can be very dangerous to their health, embarrassing, and expensive. Legalized abortions helps protect a women’s health, decreases the world’s population and keeps women from having unwanted pregnancies. Many women had died or have been severely hurt before abortion was legalized. Doctors would perform back alley abortions and at a pricey fee...

...first point out the fact that abortion is one of the most controversial issues in the United States. The progressive left stands strong on the argument that women deserve the sole right to decide on abortion. As for the conservative right they base their judgment of abortion on religious aspects than on women’s rights. Whether your stance on abortion is pro or anti it is a legal operation in the United States. In the year 1973 abortion laws were decided by the states. Most of the states banned legal abortion unless the woman’s life was at risk. The controversial case Roe v. Wade changed the outlook on abortion. “In that year, the U.S. Supreme Court decided the controversial case Roe v. Wade. The Roe decision acknowledged both a woman’s ‘fundamental right’ to terminate a pregnancy before fetal viability and the state’s legitimate interest in protecting both the women’s health and the ‘potential’ of the fetus. It prohibited states from banning abortion to protect the fetus before the third trimester of a pregnancy, and it ruled that even during that final trimester, a woman could obtain an abortion if she could prove that her life or health would be endangered by carrying the term”(Gordon, 214). This ruling gave woman the ability to make a decision of aborting a child based on their own rights and beliefs. As of 1973 to the present year of 2003 abortion is a legal procedure but is unfortunately looked upon by some, as murder. My standpoint on abortion is developed by both the progressive...
