Should Abortion Banned in Japan?
“Abortion is defined as expulsion of a fetus from the uterus before it can survive on its own” (Encyclopedia Britannica Company, 2013). Even though not many believe that no person has the authority to take another person’s life, and strict religion laws prohibit abortions in Japan under most situations, a women's right to choose to have an abortion should be her choice. Every woman should have the opportunity to determine whether to keep the pregnancy or to abort it. Growing up in today’s society, whether here in United States or in another country, we see parents not capable to raise a child, and a victim of rape or sexual assault nurture a child. Most cases, the child ends up neglected, abused, homeless, hungry, unloved, and grow up to be a problem of the law and society. If the woman knew, and feels in her heart that she is not ready to bear and raise a child, she should have the right to choose, not the State or Religion to dictate or regulate abortion. In some cases, it is better to have fetuses aborted than have them be brought up poor and neglected, were not only will the child suffers but also society when that child develops a higher attraction to crime, alcohol, and drugs.
History of Abortions in Japan
In early 1900, abortion was illegal in Japan under Criminal Code. This Code prohibits a woman to perform any form of abortion. Any pregnant woman, medical personnel, and any other person assisted or performed such action were subject to imprisonment. During this time, Japan had a high birthrate. Overpopulation threatened the country’s economic progress. So, in 1948, Eugenic Protection Law was established. According to this law, “the artificial abortion is restricted to the period, in which the fetus is not viable outside of the uterus” (Population Division

...always have a choice? Abortion has been one of the most hotly debated topics in the United States since it became legal in 1973. At first glance the argument has two basic sides. A women’s right to choose versus a baby’s right to life. Diving deeper into the debate, one will find out quickly that there are very few radicals that believe that one option is correct in every scenario. There is a huge grey area between the two sides. An author by the name of Judith Thomson wrote an interesting article giving her take on the grey area within the abortion debate. She talks about the concept of being a good Samaritan and being a minimally decent person. She relates this to the area of abortion by saying that there is a certain point where it would be morally impermissible to have an abortion because it would violate our duty of being minimally decent people. She gives her own example saying that it would not be moral for a woman that has been pregnant for seven months to get an abortion in order to look good for a vacation. This may be an idea of where Judith Thomson would draw the line on getting an abortion. However, the problem with the idea of minimal decency is that it is extremely vague. Being minimally decent might be different for every single person. An extreme pro-life person may argue that keeping a baby is minimally decent in every scenario while an extreme pro-choice person may argue that there is no point where it is not moral to get an abortion. Personally, I see the...

Anti- Abortion Term Paper

...Anti-Abortion Term Paper Having a child is often looked at as a wonderful experience containing endless rewards, but not everyone believes this. More females are getting this procedure done called an abortion now more than ever. This is where the pregnancy can/will be ended. Many women that look into abortion are not ready to support and raise a baby and see this as a way out, though someone can have empathy when a woman becomes unexpectedly pregnant, and having an abortion performed is not the right answer. Abortion became legal because of Supreme Court cases of Doe vs. Boston, and Roe vs. Wade. On average, there are 4,000 babies are murdered by abortions daily, which amounts to 1.4 million babies a year (Bilmore,1). People are unaware of what goes along with receiving an abortion. In the first trimester, the mother must go to a special clinic for an abortion. A doctor will then do a complete exam on the mother to see how far along the pregnancy is. The woman is given a form of local anesthetic following that, an instrument, called the dilator, dilates the cervix. A cannula, which will be connected to a suction machine, is moved around the uterine walls which then removes the fetus and uterine lining. When a woman completes the first trimester she then starts the second trimester of pregnancy, month four to month 6 of pregnancy, the abortion procedure can be the same as a first trimester abortion. The difference is the cervix must be dilated more which is known as Dilation...

Abortion Philosophy Paper

...Alexia Rodriguez 12-07-11 Making the Ultimate Choice With the evolving moral standards of society, abortions are becoming more and more justified. Abortion, the practice of removing a fertilized egg from a mother, has become a controversial issue in American society, but should be generally supported because of women’s rights, religious and personal beliefs should not interfere with government and laws, in case of rape or incest, abortion is a safe medical procedure, and even with responsible use of contraceptives unwanted pregnancies still occurs. A woman's right to choose abortion is a fundamental right recognized by the US Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade since Jan. 22, 1973. The Roe v. Wade decision held that a woman, with her doctor, could choose abortion in earlier months of pregnancy without legal restriction, and with restrictions in later months, based on the right to privacy. Abortions during the first trimester of pregnancy were invalidated by Roe v. Wade. State laws limiting such access during the second trimester were upheld only when the restrictions were for the purpose of protecting the health of the pregnant woman. The court case legalized abortion in the United States, which was not legal at all in many states and was limited by law in others. The Supreme Court chose to base its decision on the Fourteenth Amendment. The fourteenth amendment is based on the fact that U.S. citizenship is a birthright and blocks states from taking actions that deny...

...Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a pregnancy, usually before the embryo or fetus is capable of independent life. Therefore an abortion results in the death and/or murder of an embryo or fetus. Abortion is also illegal in many countries as it is destroying helpless and innocent children just because they are not capable of life. By killing these unborn infants, in my opinion, humans are actually hurting themselves. They are not allowing themselves to meet these identities and new personalities. Abortion is simply wrong. Every person on this earth is raised knowing the difference between right and wrong. We all know that murder is wrong, so why is abortion not wrong? People argue that it is not murder if the child is unborn, but abortion is murder. The fetus being destroyed is living, breathing and moving. Why is it that if a baby is killed a month before the birth, it is ok, but if it is killed a month after birth, it is murder? It is morally and strategically foolish, because we lose the middle when we talk about reproductive rights without reference to a larger moral and spiritual dimension, and we are unwilling to use language like transgression and redemption, or right and wrong. (Wolf 54) One of the main reasons abortions are immoral, is how they are so viciously conducted. Everyday innocent and harmless fetuses that very well could soon be laughing, lovable, and beautiful children are being brutally killed. One brutal form of an abortion is to cut the...

...Abortion Abortion is wrong and it should not be done. 1.3 million Women have an abortion a year and 1 million women have psychological disorders right after having an abortion. Having an abortion kills the life of an innocent child that has done nothing to be murdered. There are three reasons why I believe that having an abortion shouldn’t be done. Abortion causes stress and psychological pain, abortion is murder and abortion can relate to medical problems later in a woman’s life. Abortion causes stress and psychological pain in many women. Many women regret having the abortion and it causes them to stress completely out to where they lose their jobs and friends. Women develop anxiety disorders and many other disorders after getting an abortion. The pain and guilt of having the abortion done kills them inside and there not able to function normally anymore. Abortion is murder. When having an abortion the unborn fetus is being killed. There is a life that is there and it’s being destroyed. Abortion is like killing someone with a knife because basically that’s what you’re doing to the unborn child. When a woman haves an abortion there tearing an unborn child into pieces that is alive and breathing. Murder is said not to be allowed, but an abortion is murder. Many women have medical problems later in their lives because of the abortion. After having an abortion many women suffer from minor infections, abnormal pain and intestinal disturbances. These are only a few complications...

...Women’s Health After Abortion Women’s Health After Abortion Student Name Your University’s Name Women’s Health After Abortion Many studies have been done to try to understand what happens to a woman’s health both mentally and physically after having an abortion. People are led to believe abortion is safe, and that it will only fix your problems rather than create more or different problems. Research may suggest otherwise, and proposes that abortion can cause severe depression, breast cancer, and even death (Brind, 1996; Notman, 1976; Reardon, 2000). Abortion related depression can be caused for many different reasons. The three most common reasons for depression are guilt, shame, and anger. Breast cancer from abortion is believe to be caused by a hormone created at the start of a pregnancy which needs hormones created at the end of the pregnancy to fully develop them. Otherwise, these cells may turn into cancer cells. Large rises in suicidal, accidental, and natural deaths have been identified in women with a history of abortion. These are the three most dangerous consequences that can occur as a result of having an abortion (Brind, 1996; Notman, 1976; Reardon, 2000). Badgley (1977) observes two different studies on depression in Canada. The first is a study done in Saskatchewan that reported women with a history of abortion were almost twice as likely to have Women’s Health After Abortion a mental disorder as women who gave birth. The second, done in Alberta...

Philosophy Of Abortion Research Paper

...ABORTION Abortion remains a divisive and contentious issue which conjures visceral emotions within our contemporary political landscape. The dominant political approach to abortion witnesses Queensland Government engaging in the rights-based realm asserting that foetal life is to be afforded liberal rights at the expense of a woman via the formulation of anti-abortion laws . However, the politics of abortion is patent in ways far beyond centralised government with the discursive framing of abortion often being left to non-governmental actors given the sensitivity and unwillingness of politicians to copiously address abortion. This has resulted in the emergence of a rigid debate between foetal rights and women's rights making liberal rights...

...the child product of a violation, therefore, for these cases, abortion should be legalized. First of all, pregnancies due to rape are extremely rare. In the United States, for example, rape is a serious problem, approximately 78,000 cases were reported in the year 1982. This figure is more important if it is considered that 40% to 80% of rapes are unreported. In these cases the pregnancies are extremely rare, for several reasons, For example, sexual dysfunctions in the rapists, whose rate is extremely high. Three studies have shown that 39, 48 and 54% of women victims of the attack were not exposed to sperm during the rape. In a series of 3,500 cases of violation in 10 years at the Hospital...

Abortion Persuasive Research Paper

...“I’m going to abort.” If a girl ever said this to me the big question for me would be What could I do to help her? My immediate response would be to ask her if there’s anything I could do then I would try to persuade her not to abort. To do this I’d tell her that abortion is a way of killing a living person who hasn’t been born yet and that there are other options such as adoption. One of the first things that I would ask her would be if there’s anything that I could do. Around this time she might think that abortion is the best way to end “her problem” so I would be willing to listen to her point of view. Even though this may seem as the simplest thing, that might be what she needs, to think out loud and process what she is thinking. Another way that I could be helpful would be by informing her about the health centers that would teach her about the health problems she could have later on due to abortion and help her realize that abortion isn’t the best option....

Persuasive Essay On Abortion Research Paper

...Abortion: Should Parents be able to abort their child? You are a parent, sitting in a doctors office. You have just found out, your child has a birth defect. What are you going to do? You can either abort the child, or continue the pregnancy. This is a very difficult decision for parents to make. Parents should not be allowed to have an abortion because it harms the woman mentally and physically; it is a cruel way to kill a fetus, and it causes future problems in pregnancy. Terminating a pregnancy is a cruel way to kill an unborn because the fetus can feel pain, it limits the number of children to be adopted, and there are organizations who will find a family who can support the child if it has a birth defect. During the procedure, any pain inflicted on the fetus can be felt. In fact, a fetus at the twenty week mark can feel pain more intensely than a grown adult. Abortion also limits adoption chances. Families will take in children with birth defects or disabilities. There are organizations who will take in children with birth defects and find them a good family. The family will be able to care for the child and pay medical bills. The abortion procedure is cruel and torturing to a fetus....

...Should Abortion Remain legal? Name BCOM/275 July 12, 2013 Instructor Should Abortion Remain legal? Abortion is a controversial subject. It is legal in every states because of the Supreme Court’s ruling seven to two on January 22, 1973 Roe v. Wade. The abortion is a fundamental right to every woman (procon.org, 2013). According to the U.S. News website “Support for the ruling has grown since polls began tracking public opinion on abortion in 1989, with 70 % of Americans now believing the ruling should stand” (Debate club, 2013 Should Abortion be Legal, para 1). We all have different viewpoints to different topics, what may be ethical to some people may not be ethical to others and that is where all the debates come from. For abortion, there are two principal views to this topic which are “pro-life” and “pro-choice”. Pro-life people believe women should not have the right to decide if they want to keep going with their pregnancy and actually give birth. Meaning abortion should not even be an option. Those who are pro-choice believe the opposite, and that is that women should have the right to decide to whether keep going with their...
