Academic Performance of Working Students

...Profile of Working Students and It' S Implication on Academic Standing CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION Not all people are given the chance to have a quality education especially in the Philippines because it is now complicated. That’s why having the chance to study and choosing the course should not be compared to some thing like for an example buying a dress for a special occasion and when realization comes into your mind that you don’t want it, you’ll return it or maybe get your money back. No, this isn’t right, because in college life, you have to treat every second as an important detail of your life. You should not waste every moment in it. So choosing the course which you think fits your capabilities is very important. Studying a specific course in college is not only about paying the fees rather the most important things here are the time and effort spent. Money, time and effort are the most precious things in one’s life and once it is used or spent, it’s hard to gain again or worst you may never have it at all. So the time these are wasted for nothing, for sure the blame for this mistake will be felt truly. When looking at the profile of those students who are working and at the same time is studying, you would notice that they never dare wasting their time. For them, every second counts. Make an observation and you will find out that almost all of the working students are working too hard to finish their studies. For them, wasting their effort, time......

The Effects of Malnutrition on the Academic Performance of Students

...to deal with endogeneity. In the absence of a good identification strategy, the effect of nutrition over learning will be either overestimated or underestimated. The goal of this paper is to take advantage of a baseline dataset collected for a SFP impact evaluation in order to assess the causal relation between poor nutrition and knowledge acquisition which is one of the main assumption behind any SFP. We explore the effect of short and long term nutrition on mathematics and reading tests scores and find that mild long term malnutrition (stunting), but also short term malnutrition (thinness) have an detrimental effect on learning. Being stunted is associated with a six percent lower score. Short term malnutrition is also associated with bad performances, even when we control for stunting which 3 means that short term malnutrition has an independent effect. Using rainfall records during the preschool period as exogenous instruments, we find that mild long term malnutrition has a bigger negative impact than previously measured with a simple OLS estimation. The next section presents the conceptual framework. Section three and four briefly discuss the context of the data collection and displays some descriptive statistics. Section five explains the identification strategy and section six gives the results. 2 Conceptual framework Following the framework presented by Glewwe and Miguel [2007], we assess the relationship between school achievement and nutrition as a knowledge......

Remember that your abstract is a description of your project and not a description of your topic.  It is easy to get these two types of description confused.  Since abstracts are generally very short, it’s important that you don’t get bogged down in a summary of the entire background of your topic (Locker, 1997).  In this paper’s abstract, the rationale, statement of the problem, research questions, thesis statement, method and design, sampling technique, and instruments employ in this paper are stated. ...a specified social context” (in nursing it is the clinical area). It also involves much more complex learning such as learning of concepts, problem solving, decision making, rule learning, critical thinking. The nursing educators and institutions have an ethical obligation to ensure admission criteria and academic standards that are reasonable and fare, yet effective indicators of students’ success. When an educational institution issues a diploma to one of its students, it is, in effect certifying the society that the student possesses all the knowledge and skills that are required in his chosen discipline. To remain competitive and accountable, it is imperative for nursing programmes to have efficient and reliable admission criteria. Quantitative data and research- base facts are essential for the development, revision and modification of the admission criteria to guide nursing educators to identify and select those students who will successfully complete the nursing programme. It also helps in minimizing the wastage of human and material resources that occur due to student failure and attrition (Dr. Romana Idrees, 2008). Furthermore, the students are exposed to a wide variety of clinical settings—including hospitals, outpatient, community clinics, treatment centers, and long-term care facilities—as well as patient populations diverse in age, gender, health status, socioeconomic background, and geographic distribution. The Academic Performance of Working Students

...Introduction Many high school students today work part-time. Their reason for working is mostly due to the fact that they lack the financial that they need. Few would reason that their working for only personal leisure. Employment while studying has a greatly effect in their academic performance. Academic performance refers on how student deals with their studies, it is on how they accumulate knowledge while listening or communicate in their skills. Many researchers debate about the effect of part-time job in their academic performance. Some of the researchers found out that having a part-time job could decrease the academic performance of a student, time for bonding with family and especially time for you to relax. Straus and Holmberg (1968) found that the association between grades and students’ employment status is weak. (Coleman, 1974), demonstrated that workers have slightly lower grade point averages than non-workers. But some of the researchers found out that having a part time job could increase the academic performance of a student especially the working skills, responsibility, punctuality, and build self-confidence. In contrast, critics have argued that employment, as it occurs now (in fast-food restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, and so forth), does not educate or properly prepare students for adult occupational roles (Behn, et al., 1974; Greenberger and Steinberg, 1981; Steinberg, 1982), fails to foster the psychological maturity or development......

The Effect of Gadgets on Students Academic Performance

As long as students don’t become fanatics when it comes to gadgets, we don’t think that they could have a bad influence or a bad effect on students. The gadgets make our life better in many ways. Let’s take for example the cell phone, many of you are “lost” without it and when it comes to students this device is more than just a cell phone, is a chat opportunity, an Internet connection, a camera and more. Is not a bad thing to have a computer, but is a bad thing to spend all your life in front of it pretending that everything else doesn’t exist. Otherwise, most gadgets have positive effects because they enable us to do things faster and easier and they are also good when it comes to learning new things and, let’s face it, they make our life a lot easier. There is some list of the essential gadgets for students we have: A laptop with the fast wireless internet connection enables the students to do their projects even if they are in a coffee bar, in a park or on the road.
