The Acadian Expulsion happened from August 10, 1755 to July 11 1764. This event was a really sad event for all the Acadians with their love ones getting separated from them or even dying, and them doing things they don’t want to. British Governor Charles Lawrence and the Nova Scotia Council decided to deport all the Acadians on July 28 1755 by the Acadians signing an Oath of Allegiance. Around 3,100 Acadians were deported and around 1,600 died by drowning or diseases. So if you ever had an option to sign the Oath of Allegiance you should not and I will tell you why right now.

First of all, if you signed the oath, then the British would have separated you from your families and that wouldn’t be nice because you have lived with your family for your whole life and without your family, you will have no idea on what you are doing. The British would have kept on telling you and persuading you to sign the oath. After a while it would have been annoying enough that you would just want to start war with the British. The British would have torn down or burned your house just because you wouldn’t sign the oath. You will have nowhere to go so you are forced to sign the oath which is the complete opposite of what you would want to do. Before you would get to where the British are taking you, you will be hungry and ready to die. These are some of the consequences you will go through if you didn’t sign the oath.

This is why you should not sign the Oath of Allegiance because if you didn’t sign the oath then you would have been able to stay with your own family, practice your own religion and, stay at your own
