Intra-generational equity is concerned with equity between people of the same generation. This is separate from inter-generational equity, which is about equity between present and future generations. Intra-generational equity includes considerations of distribution of resources and justice between nations. It also includes considerations of what is fair for people within any one nation. Inter-generational equity in economic, psychological, and sociological contexts, is the concept or idea of fairness or justice in relationships between children, youth, adults and seniors, particularly in terms of treatment and interactions. It has been studied in environmental and sociological settings.

Besides, Inter-generational equity has to do with fairness between current and future members of a community. It doesn't mean that we neglect our current needs, but that we try to achieve a reasonable balance between satisfying our needs now and setting aside enough to provide for needs of the future. We are currently living unsustainable lives. If we are not careful how we use and dispose of resources, our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will have a poorer, more polluted world to live in. Aiming for inter-generational equity means we want to give equal consideration to our own immediate needs, our own future needs, and our children's and grandchildren's future needs.

Whereas, intra-generational equity is also used in connection with the idea that all people throughout the community, be it a town or the entire world, have the same basic needs that must be taken into consideration.
It’s meaning justice among the present population. The preservation of basic human rights and the fulfillment of basic human needs are the fundamental driving forces behind economic transactions, social interactions, and resource consumption. When people are operating under duress in any of these areas, concern for immediate needs overwhelms any consideration for long-term needs, thereby undermining the whole principle of planning for the future. So, current or intra-generational inequity can lead to future or inter-generational inequity.

Computerized Accounting

...Computerized Accounting Computerized Accounting Over the past two decades the way accounting data is entered, stored and processed has changed considerably. This is due to the introduction of computerized accounting packages. It is no longer necessary for large companies to have huge store rooms full of ledgers and records. Instead all information can be stored in computer hard disks. Accounting packages give many advantages over manual systems, for example entries do not have to be recorded in multiple ledgers. A single entry is made and the package will update all the appropriate accounts automatically. Computerized accounting packages also make it possible for people in other departments, not just accounting to enter data. It does not require a vast amount of accounting knowledge for a pay role clerk to enter wages details into the accounts. Just a basic understanding of how to use the package is needed. Furthermore these packages simplify the use of the double entry system greatly. In a manual accounting system, as well as creating an audit trail to record all transactions, a trail balance, profit and loss account and a balance sheet would have to be manually drawn up. Computerized accounting packages have the ability to do all this from just having the companies transactions entered into the relevant spreadsheets. [1]A great benefit of these packages is that, as the business grows the cost of using the software...

Standard Costing

...AN IDEAL APPROACH TO STANDARD COSTING By Jitesh Chandak INTRODUCTION Before you start your study on standard costing you must be clear in your mind that you are going to study a chapter which wants more practice and hard work to develop a strong and sound concept. Costing can be defined as “The technique and process of ascertaining costs.” Standard costing is a technique, which uses standards for cost and revenue for the purpose of control through variance analysis. We can say standard costing is a technique of costing, which also established control over costing. Standard cost can be defined “As a pre-determined cost which is calculated from management’s standard of efficient operation and relevant necessary expenditure. It may be used as a basis for price fixing and for control through variance analysis.” Hence we can say standard costs are pre-determined estimates of cost of a single unit or a number of units of a product service. Uses of Standard Cost: - 1. Use of standard cost is an effective way for planning and controlling costs. 2. Pricing decisions and decisions involving submission of quotations, answering tenders etc are also facilitated by the use of standard costs. 3. Identification and measurement of variances from standards have been made possible with the use of standard cost, with a view to improve performance or to correct loose standards, if any. 4. Facilitates management by exceptions...

Abc Costing

...Coverdrive Ltd Case Study: Activity Based Costing Situation At a recent management meeting at Coverdrive Ltd, the members of the senior management team discussed the introduction of a new product to the company’s range of high quality, hand made cricket bats. A major agenda item was pricing. The management accountant, since his appointment, had given much thought to pricing policy and one of his concerns was that of dealing with the recovery of overhead within a full cost pricing policy. The discussion centred around the traditional method currently in use, compared and contrasted with ABC, Activity Based Costing a technique which re-examines the problem that has faced accountants for decades – that of allocation and absorption of overhead. Traditional pricing method has been based upon absorption costing and the treatment of overhead usually followed a set procedure. ( Cost centres are identified and established within the organisation. ( Cost centres may be producing or service centres. ( Wherever possible a direct charge is made to a cost centre ie allocated overhead. ( Where overhead is jointly incurred it is apportioned to the cost centres on an equitable base. ( The overhead cost for the service centre is then transferred to producing centres. ( The total overhead cost for each producing centre is then divided by for example, machine or labour hours per the cost centre. ( An overhead recovery rate results. ( This is then used to...

Sjoblom Leif M. Sjoblom is a Professor at the International Institute for Management Development. SYNOPSIS: Different opinions exist with respect to the usefulness of financial information for operational decision making. While academics encourage the provision of accounting information on quality, few companies provide it. This article explores the usefulness (or lack thereof) of Cost of Quality (COQ) and quality-related financial information through the use of a survey and informal discussions and interviews with quality managers. Financial information can be used to flag quality problems, to select and prioritize quality improvement projects and to choose corrective action. The results suggest that financial information has a limited role in supporting these operational decisions. The limitations of current COQ systems, and the lack of relevant, reliable and timely financial information, are among the reasons cited for not using COQ. However, there is a perceived need for additional financial reporting in order to attract the attention of top management and to motivate managers. In order to make COQ more relevant to practitioners, future research must not only focus on improving and disseminating best practices, but also on the multi-disciplinary implementation process.
