...Activity 1: Cajun and Metis Music and Culture Hundreds of years ago, Native Americans inhabited the regions of North America. After many years, European explorers discovered the lands and began to colonize there. There were many interactions between the Natives and the Europeans. The Metis are a mixed-race group of people that resulted from the mating between European settlers and Native Americans. The Metis were often looked down upon since they did not belong in any specific category, and were also discriminated against. Additionally, the Cajun people are an ethnic group in Louisiana that has originated from a group known as the Acadians. They have French origins. Both the Metis and Cajuns have their own style of music that is representative of their culture and origins. Their music contains fiddles and harmonicas that play quick and diverse beats. The music often adds more notes and beats, while maintaining the European feel, showing the intersection of cultures. The music sounds like a variation or a blend rather that just a single category. Also, there are many similarities between the Metis and Cajun music. In my opinion, I thought the instrumentation was very similar. In both forms of music, I heard a lot of fiddle playing also accordion. I also thought the styles were very similar. They both had a sort of folk feel to them. After listening to the Metis music, I heard the same sort of upbeat fiddle playing in the Cajun waltzes, with lots of complex rhythms and many...

Whether you've exercised on your own or played on a sports team, you have probably recognized some of these changes without realizing you were thinking about physiology. Instructions: You will perform an exercise bout that will include a warm-up, short workout, and cool-down period. Pay close attention to any physiological adjustments made by your body systems (specifically those listed below). Although some of the adjustments cannot be observed visually, hypothesize about what might be occurring throughout the activity. After you have completed the course, we will come back to this activity to see what you have learned. Learning Activity 1

...LEARNING ACTIVITY 1 COMPETITION IN THE FREE MARKET SYSTEM Provide an example to illustrate one of the four types of competition in a free market system: perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly. Did this competition result in any type of government intervention? Project how this type of competition, if widespread, would impact the overall health of the economy.  In the mid 1970's AT&T ,a provider of Local and long distance telephone service, had either destroyed or bought most of the company's competition, becoming the country's largest and most influential telecommunications company (AT&T Breakup, January 2015). Thus creating a government regulated monopoly. The FCC was created to monitor the actions of AT&T. In 1974 The Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice sued AT&T. If the FCC had not stepped in and demanded more competition we may not have the likes of Sprint, Verizon, and T-mobile in today's marketplace, making it more expensive for the consumer. LEARNING ACTIVITY 2 Determining ethical boundaries can sometimes be a challenge, since ethics is both based on individual beliefs as well as societal standards. Would receiving a holiday gift from a client be considered bribery?  Would it be wrong for a person in a position of power, like a mayor, to ask a bank manager friend for a personal loan?  On a more practical level, is it unethical for a cashier to provide a coupon to a customer who did not have one at...

...ACTIVITY 1- SECTION 1 In this brief dissertation below will be considered three of the most used methods in organizational contexts to identify learning and developments needs for individuals and groups: SWOT, focus groups, self-assessment. SWOT The SWOT analysis is an easily applied tool, which asks the team to consider strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats relating to a specific situation. SWOT’s primary objective is to help organizations develop a full awareness of all the factors, positive and negative, that may affect strategic planning and decision making. Example: A small manifacturing company might decide to perform a SWOT analysis to review the activity of the company itself and find new approaches for the next two years: Strenghts: - we can offer a better service to the costumers and dedicate to them more time; - we are able to change our offers in a brief lack of time if we realize they do not fit well with the current marketing request; - we have just a small markup on our prices and for this reasons our products are not so expensive. Weaknesses: - our company is not well known; - our employee lack of skills and knowledge in some specific working field. This makes difficult a job rotation; - we are vulnerable in front of the request of days off and holidays. Opportunities: - our business sector is expanding and we have good opportunities to achive success; - the local administration department decided to help small companies giving...

...Recording Analysing and using HR Information – Activity 2 2 Reasons why organisations need to collect HR Data One main reason organisations need to collect HR data is to comply with legal or industry requirements. For example, to show that an employee has the right to work in the UK, we would need to hold evidence of a passport, residence permit or work visa. Also, if an employee was dismissed from the business and made a claim the company would need to hold accurate disciplinary records and any investigation notes in order to defend the claim. Organisations also need to collect HR data in order to supply information to the business. For instance, keeping accurate training records can help with succession planning within the Firm. Also, collecting and holding accurate records such as policies, management structures and staff handbooks can be useful for employees to refer back to in order to ensure that they are conducting themselves in the way the business expects. 2 types of Data to be collected and how they support HR One type of data to be collected is absence records, particularly sickness records, this can enable the human resources team to monitor staff sickness in order to identify any patterns. By keeping a record of sickness this can help when implementing a new sickness policy including sickness triggers. This can also help to improve the moral of the workforce by alerting the line managers of a particular sickness pattern, they can then discuss the...

Install additional software and services packages to fit the need of the user. 3. By default Fedora divides the disk into three partitions, including ‘/boot’ and Logical Volume Manager (LVM). 4. Manual partitioning the hard disk has its advantages, such as being able to isolate a filesystem for security or backup needs. 5. The / (root) partition is the main filesystem on the hard disk. Any new created directories will become part of the root filesystem unless a filesystem is created. 6. The swap partition is where Linux temporarily stores programs and data when it does not have enough RAM to hold all the information it is processing. 7. The /boot partition holds the hernel and other data the system needs when it boots. In order for the /boot partition to work properly it must be one of the first partitions on the disk. 8. The /var (variable) partition holds the bulk of system logs, package information, and accounting data. The /var/log partition is commonly used in a separate partition to isolate system logs from other files in the /var directory. 9. The /home partition is...
