Task 1: Starting a database
1. Create a new database by following any of the approach demonstrated in exercise 2.
2. Name the database as DemoDB_yourlastname_section.mdb (ex. DemoDB_cruz_it31fb6)

Task 2: Visual creation of a table
1. In the Object Explorer, locate for your database name (DemoDB_yourlastname_yoursection) expand the database node (click its + button)
2. Under the database, right-click Tables and click New Table...

3. As the cursor is blinking in the first empty field under the Column Name column, type Lastname and press Enter

Task 3: Set column names and data types
1. Under the Column Name column, double-click Lastname to highlight it
2. Type FirstName to replace it and press Enter
3. Click the arrow of the combo box under the Data Type column
4. Scroll down and select varchar from the list

5. Click the first empty field under FirstName and type MI
6. Complete the table as follows:

Task 4: Setting Length of data
There are two ways you can change the length of a string-based column:
 In the top section of the window, to change the length of the field, in the parentheses of the data type, enter the desired value
 In the top section of the window, click the name of the column. In the bottom section, click the Length field and type the desired value

Set the data length of the table as follows:

Task 5: Define Primary key
From the table select the column to set as primary key right click then select Set Primary key.

Task 6: Create relationships between tables
1. From the Object Explorer, open the child table in Design View
2. Right-click anywhere in the table and click Relationships...

3. In the Foreign Key Relationships dialog box, click Add
4. A default name would be suggested to you. You can accept or change it.

5. Select Tables and Columns specification (click the ellipses button)
