CHAPTER 1 - THE ORGANIZATION

Description and Profile of the Organization

AdCreate Society is one of the 40 accredited student organizations of De La Salle University-Manila. It officially became a member of the Council of Student Organizations (CSO) on November 24, 1999 under the term of former CSO Chairperson, Jerry Lim. Then, it was recognized as part of the student body of the university on January 14, 2000 with the help of the bill passed by former Legislative Assembly Representative, Gordon Ong. On February 23, 2000, AdCreate Society was officially launched during the College of Business and Economics celebration of the its College Day.

The organization was formed due to combined efforts of Marlon Gonzales (FIrst President of AdCreate Society), Erlyn de Rosales (Executive Vice President), Sheryl Go (Vice President for Documentation), and the whole junior advertising block of school year 1999-2000.

Recent activities of the organization include its relaunch last July 12-15, 2010 and membership with Federation of Advertising Organizations (FAO), forming an alliance with Philippine Association of National Advertisers Foundation (PANAF).

Vice President for Events – Jennifer Marie Phee Tseng
Vice President for Human Resources – Paolla Roell Chan Sy
Executive Secretary – Maria Anna Isabela Hamoy Cueto
Executive Treasurer – Patricia Anne Espiritu Barcelona

Mission Statement

The mission statement provides the purpose and the description of the current business of an organization (Gamble, Thompson, & Peteraf et al., 2013). AdCreate Society’s mission statement is:

The AdCreate Society is a professional student organization of De La Salle University-Manila that aims to provide members a venue where they can gain advertising-related knowledge.

Vision Statement of the Organization

The vision statement lays out an organization's long-term direction and answers the question, “where are we going?” (Gamble et al., 2013). AdCreate Society’s vision statement is:

To become the top member-oriented professional student organization in De La Salle University-Manila that provides high-quality activities and produces competent and skillful members in partnership with the Marketing and Advertising department.

Effective Elements:

○ Graphic - descriptive of the type of management and results that the organization is trying to achieve
○ Directional - forward looking on becoming the top member-oriented organization in De La Salle University-Manila
○ Feasible - reasonably achievable given its resources
○ Desirable - has a good business sense in producing competent and skillful members
○ Easy to communicate - can be easily understood by anyone

Shortcomings:

○ Not distinctive - can apply to other student organizations
○ Too reliant on superlatives - does not go beyond being the top student organization in De La Salle University-Manila
○ Too broad - makes it appear that AdCreate Society any move to achieve its goals
