The term broadband refers to a telecommunications signal or the marketing term for wireless Internet access through a portable modem , mobile phone or other mobile device. Mobile broadband, also referred to as WWAN (for Wireless Wide Area Network) On the other hand , broadband services provides higher-speed of data transmission. It allows more content to be carried through the transmission “pipeline.”
What is WAP ?
WAP stands for Wireless Application Protocol . Its a technical standard for accessing information over a mobile wireless network. A WAP browser is a web browser for mobile devices such as mobile phones that uses the protocol.
Advantages of Broadband compared to WAP
1. Connection speed is up to 100 times faster than dialup connection. You can download pictures files, software in seconds or minutes instead of hours. Online gaming is only possible using a broadband internet access.
2. It does not affect the phone line. For DSL internet access, you can use the same phone line for both voice/fax and data transmission. For cable internet access, you are connected to the internet via the cable network. In either case, your phone line is not occupied while you are connected to the internet.
3. It is convenient because the internet connection is always on.
4. You don't need to dial an access number and risk getting a busy signal.
5. Broadband internet offers unlimited access and you won't be charged based on the connection duration.

...Introduction to Internet Broadband Access * NTC/362 * April 3, 2013 * Professor Steven * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Introduction to Broadband Internet Access * Broadband Internet access is an important structure for involvement in today's economy and main driver for evolution and modernization. Broadband Internet access indeed is the most used system of access to the Internet due to its fast access speeds. The two trends this paper discusses is mobile broadband and cable connection. Mobile broadband and cable broadband services both allow Internet users to get their Internet-ready devices online. While both cable broadband and mobile broadband connect to the Internet, there are differences in the way these two services work. The type of service that is best for one person may not be the best choice for another, particularly if a user travels a lot. Cable Internet services guarantees some restriction in regards to where a subscriber is able to connect to the Internet. Mobile broadband services allow individuals to access Internet anywhere at any time. Both mobile broadband and cable broadband services allow a user to create a network that connects other Internet users nearby. With a wireless router, cable broadband users can connect any Internet ready device within the home or office. The same can be said for mobile broadband users. The local...

...1310 Terence Brown Cortez Martin Ashanti Hancock Will Rivera Mobile broadband pros and cons Advantages: * Take your broadband wherever you go - A mobile broadband connection is exactly that, which means that you can access your emails, check the sports results or watch YouTube videos no matter where you are, provided you have 3G reception. * Stop paying for line rental - Millions of people continue to pay for line rental on a home phone landline that they rarely use, just so that they can get broadband at home. With mobile broadband, there's no need to pay line rental - potentially saving you over £100 a year. * Plug and play technology - All the software you need to connect to the internet is automatically installed when you first plug your USB modem into your laptop - no need to set it up or call a technical support helpline. * Flexible options available - Mobile broadband customers can take advantage of some really great pay-as-you-go tariffs from as little as £2 a day, or rolling one-month packages, meaning they only ever pay for what they actually need. Disadvantages: * Low download limits - Even the most generous of mobile broadband tariffs only offer a download allowance of 15GB per month, and that could set you back £25 a month on a two-year contract, while typical value packages offer less than 5GB a month. * High costs for exceeding your limit - Most mobile broadband providers charge a fee when you exceed your download limit. This is normally...

Yet 15 million Americans live in areas where they can’t get wireline broadband no matter how much they want it. These funds will jump-start broadband access in areas that would otherwise be bypassed by the digital economy. At least 100 million U.S. homes should have affordable access to actual download speeds of at least 100 megabits per second and actual upload speeds of at least 50 megabits per second by the year 2020. The United States should lead the world in mobile innovation, with the fastest and most extensive wireless networks of any nation. ...NHS Internet Services Research: An Annotated Bibliography First technology solutions: Satellite Internet Business Internet: Select Plans. (n.d.). Retrieved November 24, 2014, from http://business.hughesnet.com/bi/resources/business-internet-gen4 The HughesNet website explains the viability of satellite internet service for businesses. The information provided demonstrates how the HughesNet Gen4 service can provide high speed internet access for multiple remote branch offices. HughesNet demonstrates how it compares favorably to other services such as cable or DSL (digital subscriber line) internet. Satellite Internet has the ability to synchronously transmit and receive data from a small client satellite dish on Earth and communicate with an orbiting satellite above Earth's equator. The orbiting satellite transmits and receives its information to a ground server on Earth called the Network Operations Center (NOC). The NOC is connected to the Internet or private network. All communication made from a satellite dish connection to the Internet must flow through the ground server. HughesNet satellite service has the flexible capabilities of reaching every office in the NHS network as well as any new locations that NHS may add as they expand their operations. Satellite service provides speeds of up to 15 Mbps, which exceeds the necessary speed required to transfer large 100MB files between each NHS office and their partner in New York City. ...Broadband over Power Line: An Overview By Shamim Ziaee and Xavier N. Fernando, Senior member of IEEE Ryerson University, Toronto, ON Abstract Broadband over Power Line (BPL) communication systems can deliver high-speed voice, data and video communications to end-users by transmitting radio frequency energy over existing electrical power lines. Although this technology is not new, the new achievements in deploying BPL has made it more practical in recent years. The existing infrastructure for BPL is the most considerable advantage of this technology. Since electrical power lines have reached mostly all rural areas, BPL technology can provide broadband services in those areas where the use of other technologies like cable or DSL can not be justified economically. BPL is also used in management of power distribution grids by monitoring and facilitating control of them remotely. In this paper a brief history of this technology and a general overview of it will be presented. Also some issues related to the deployment of this technology and the current status of the technology in the world will be addressed. Introduction The purpose of power line communications is to use power supply system for communication purpose. The demand for broadband communication is increasing rapidly. According to KOHL group, less than 30% of US residences and 40% of industries use broadband services. However these percentages will be doubled within the next 10 years. Currently, there are several methods...

...QUESTION1 Power Problems Alternating current (AC), which is “food” to PCs and other network devices, is normally 110 volts and changes polarity 60 times a second (or 60 Hertz). These values are referred to as line voltage. Any deviation from these values can create problems for a PC or other network device. Power problems fall into three categories: * Overage * Underage * Quality Power Overage Problems During a power overage, too much power is coming into the computer. Power overage can take two forms: * A power spike occurs when the power level rises above normal levels and then drops back to normal in less than one second. * A power surge occurs when the power level rises above normal levels and stays there for more than one or two seconds. Typically, power surges last longer than a second or two, and they may last for several minutes. Two types of devices are used to protect computers and other network devices from power overage problems: * Surge protectors * Line conditioners A surge protector contains a special electronic circuit that monitors the incoming voltage level and trips a circuit breaker when the overvoltage reaches a certain level (called the over- voltage threshold). The problem with surge protectors is that the threshold is set too high to be safe.Nor does a surge protector protect against power surges and spikes that are lower than the threshold. For the most part, a surge protector is better than nothing, but not by much...
