Most people have a cell phone these days that can access the Internet nearly everywhere allowing them to consume almost whatever media they wish and whenever they want it. Enriquez, Wagner, and Marsh (2012) conclude that Sacramento County’s Environmental Management Department has a new application compatible with the IPhone and Android that allows users to view the health inspection scores of more than 5000 restaurants. People can have cell phone apps that range from locating places to eat and gas stations to counting how many steps a person takes each day.
Also numerous search engines exist to help people find what they are searching for. Furthermore, accessing the local, national, and even international news is only a few clicks away. Obtaining information is…...

How Does it Work?: Using the Amazon.com Marketplace is as simple as using Amazon.com itself. You select the items you want by clicking the link to add them to your shopping cart. Then, you proceed to the check out, pay for your items, and wait for them to arrive. If you purchase Amazon.com Marketplace items along with new merchandise from Amazon.com itself, everything will be combined together in one shopping cart and one payment. However, the items will, of course, be shipped separately because the Marketplace item will be coming to you from an anonymous seller- someone who could live next door to you or several thousand miles away. A short time after you receive your merchandise in the mail, Amazon.com will send you a link and ask you to logon to your Amazon.com account and rate the seller. You will be asked to rate the seller from one star (lowest rating) to five stars (highest rating). You can also leave a comment if you wish. And if you don’t want to give a specific...

...Social Media: Information Technology Abstract Social Media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, are universally known and present in parts of the world in today’s society. Social media have become such a part of many people daily activities that most couldn’t image living without it. It has brought many benefits to us, but also some pitfalls. Facebook monitors how third parties use your personal data, however, they also state they cannot guarantee “that third parties will follow Facebook’s privacy policy, if you don’t want your privacy violated, then you probably want to reconsider joining Facebook or other social networks.  The definition of “privacy” is subjective, however, things like personal information such as name, living and working locations, job, career, education, income, relationship status, contact information, and bank information should be safeguarded at all costs to prevent things like stalking, identity theft, fraud, and other attempts to undermine a person’s life.  It’s not all bad, Facebook has reunited family’s, long lost friends, and is helping police officers catch the bad guys, however, like anything, too much can be bad for you.  More recently social media has been known as the tool that facilitated many uprising in Middle Eastern countries. It helped kick start a revolution known as the Arab Spring. Facebook was used to schedule activities such as gatherings to protest, Twitter was used to coordinate an array of events at a moment’s...

... public opinions. If citizens are to take part in society and make informed choices, they must have access to information without limit. Hamilton and Pors write, “Without this freedom, democracy is not fully inclusive and cannot function to full effect” (Hamilton & Ole Pors, 2003). For prosperity and development of a democratic society, access to the widest range of ideas is essential. The right to know and access information is a human right that no one should be deprived of. Aaron Swartz played an active role in fighting for public information to be truly public, free, and easily accessible. He made significant contributions to this cause by developing programs such as RSS and groups such as Demand Progress to ensure that humans are guaranteed their basic right. Other Internet activists recognize that free access to information is a big concern and continue to fight for it was well. Through the dedication and hard work of many Internet activists, public information will one day truly be public. References Danner, R. (2012). .... Yet, he will often refuse to see the doctor when he stops in for a visit. Basically, he is a whiner. He knows he is a failure, and he knows he is old and at the end of his disappointing life. He is miserable, and wants everyone around him to be miserable too. Helena: Although she is Serebrakoff's wife, she does not seem to love her husband very much anymore. She admits that she was entranced by his potential for greatness, and now she remains tied to a failed old professor. She stays mainly out of duty and social expectation. When combating the advances of both Vanya and Astroff, she seems most interested in the doctor - though she still rejects him. With Vanya, she sometimes appears friendly, sometimes pitying, and sometimes vehemently annoyed. At the end of the play she is one of the few characters who attains her desire. She wants to tell the doctor that she is "a little bit in love with him" and, acting on an impulse, she kisses him before leaving forever. A Happy Ending or a Sad Ending? As discussed in my analysis of Chekhov's dry, darkly humorous play, The Seagull, many readers and audiences are not sure whether we should laugh or cry by the end of the play. The playwright thought of his work as amusing, and yet the play ends with its characters in a heart-wrenching state of limbo, waiting for their lives to be over without any hope of personal fulfillment. As depressing as that may seem, if we compare this play to The Wood Demon, an earlier work of Chekhov's,......

Social Media

...One advantage of easily accessible information is convenience. Easily accessible information is convenient for people to catch the latest stories, listen to new songs on the go whether it is on the internet or the radio. People can watch and share music videos to those songs as well; while holding conversations through conversation with many friends immediately. This is more convenient than reading a magazine, watching television, listening to the radio and chatting on a cell phone at once to do the same thing. It allows people to multitask and do those things proficiently while conforming to society’s environment. One of the disadvantages to easily accessible information is when serious or sensitive information is available when it shouldn't be. It is annoying when a person uses Facebook to post that a family member perished in a car accident before the information can be passed to the other family in the correct way. Not all news should move fast and be easily obtainable or accessible. It is disrespectful this way sometimes. There are a few advantages to using social media. One advantage could be promoting a product. Word of mouth spreads and the more people that see your product is good. Social media is a cheap way of advertising. It also has the means to draw people to another website or blog. I do this all of the time with my photography website. I will give a sneak peek into something I am doing and then try to lure them over using my webpage. Social media can also...

Advantage and Disadvantage of Bullying\

...related literature about bullying By ahemn October 2013 309 Words PAGE 1 OF 1 Bullying in schools is a worldwide problem that can have negative consequences for the general school climate and for the right of students to learn in a safe environment without fear. Bullying can also have negative lifelong consequences—both for students who bully and for their victims. Although much of the formal research on bullying has taken place in the Scandinavian countries, Great Britain, and Japan, the problems associated with bullying have been noted and discussed wherever formal schooling environments exist. Bullying is comprised of direct behaviors such as teasing, taunting, threatening, hitting, and stealing that are initiated by one or more students against a victim. In addition to direct attacks, bullying may also be more indirect by causing a student to be socially isolated through intentional exclusion. While boys typically engage in direct bullying methods, girls who bully are more apt to utilize these more subtle indirect strategies, such as spreading rumors and enforcing social isolation (Ahmad & Smith, 1994; Smith & Sharp, 1994). Whether the bullying is direct or indirect, the key component of bullying is that the physical or psychological intimidation occurs repeatedly over time to create an ongoing pattern of harassment and abuse (Batsche & Knoff, 1994; Olweus, 1993). Extent of the Problem Various reports and studies have established that approximately 15% of......

Advantage and Disadvantage of Rh Bill

...Advantages and Disadvantages of RH BILL The statement that reproductive health means "free sex, use of contraseptives, abortion if contraception fails." is not found anywhere on that bill. Use of contraseptives, yes, but free sex and abortion if contraception fails?! If you have read the bill, that'sdefinitely putting words into the authors' mouth. The word "prevent" is not synonymousfor "killing" the catholic church stand for using this method shows that using this methodof preventing is a way killing one's life, they say that sperm and egg cells are the victimof this method, but they doesn't have a life yet they are only a part of a humans' lives,so if they are saying that contraception can "kill" those cells then I consider that allteenagers, young adult, adult or even some of the elderly males are "killers" because itis a nature and normal for the males to "masturbate" and if the orgasm occur the semenwill ejaculate from the males reproductiveorgan and the one content of semen aremillions of sperm cells and in a matter of seconds the sperm cell will die if they areexposed to air, so we kill millions of it and "killing" is a mortal sin. "Killing" is only whenthe two cell are develop and formed as fetus then you terminate it and try to removefrom your womb, that is already "killing" and it is called "Abortion." The advantages of the RH Bill include the couple's choice in the number of children they may like; theselection of the family planning method they will use; and...

The state government has ordered all schools to remain closed till September 12. Many people are now living in relief camps and temporary shelters. No rain is expected in Jammu today, but light showers are likely in Srinagar. There has been no electricity in many areas for hours now all over the state including Srinagar. Phone lines are down and people have reported that they have been unable to contact stranded families since last night. Helplines and even social media sites are flooded with SOS messages giving details of families awaiting rescue. The state was battered by heavy rain for six days which caused major rivers and streams to overflow. As rain let up yesterday, rescue operations intensified. An Indian Air Force's Flight Lieutenant KS Lamba said the high terrain has made rescue operations tougher. "We have experienced pilots to complete this task. We have the immediate relief materials with us which is required as of now. We have medicines, blankets, water and utensils needed etc," he said. The Army has deployed 184 columns...

The goal is to give youth and adults greater freedom by empowering them to access, analyze, evaluate, and create media. In schools: Educational standards in many states -- in language arts, social studies, health and other subjects -- include the skills of accessing, analyzing and evaluating information found in media. These are media literacy skills, though the standards may not use that term. Teachers know that students like to examine and talk about their own media, and they've found that media literacy is an engaging way to explore a wide array of topics and issues. In the community: Researchers and practitioners recognize that media literacy education is an important tool in addressing alcohol, tobacco and other drug use; obesity and eating disorders; bullying and violence; gender identity and sexuality; racism and other forms of discrimination and oppression; and life skills.
