More and more companies are taking that next step to becoming green and helping the environment prosper more and more. As a society we have come to realize that we cannot live the way we have lived the last century or for that matter decade. The travel industry is beginning to do their part by designing and using alternative fuel in the cars and trucks that we use on a daily basis. Boeing in conjunction with several different companies and countries is coming up with alternative fuel to be use in many of their planes they are developing. In the last several years, Boeing has begun to do research and test alternative fuel in some of the planes that they make and use. Along with these planes, they have also partnered up with the military to use the fuel and see how it affects the environment in military equipment. Their goal in doing all of this and coming out with an alternative fuel for planes, is to reduce the gas emissions that we saw in 2005 by 50% in 2050. (Airbus, Boeing, Embraer join hands on green jet fuel initiative, (2012, March 22))

With any new potential product that the consumer may or may not see, the company must be able to comply with different rules and regulations in that particular industry. Boeing released several recommendations to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to accelerate the commercial viability and deployment of aviation biofuels. (Millikin, Mike. (January 2012)) By doing this, Boeing needs to supply the USDA with different agendas on how they will be approaching the sale, study, and distribution of this product. This will give everyone in the playing field the procedures on how to proceed with the product once the government approves it. Each study can be seen as a case by case basis or it can be seen as dealing with the problems that may arise all at once. Along with making sure that certain procedures are in place, Boeing and everyone else must be able to back up any findings that they have put together for this product. When it comes to using a product that may affect the environment and the people who use it, the people involved should be using different tests to get results on how things work and affect anything around it. If this type of activity was not done and findings were being distorted, then many people will be affected by the product. This can have a major implication not only on Boeing, but also on everyone else who is participating in this test. The government would come in and shut down any progress that has been made in the field. That is why it is important to conduct tests and review any factual findings before reporting.

As mentioned earlier, in this initiative certain procedures and testing must be done and done correctly to be able to comply with the government and the rules that have been imposed. One key element of administrative law that the parties to this initiative must be aware of is the possibility of any lawsuit. Because certain claims that biofule will help reduce admissions and be better for travel there needs to be a backup to these claims. In 2010 USDA, Air Transport Associations of America, Inc. (ATA) and Boeing signed a resolution formalizing their commitment to work together. (Millikin, Mike. (January 2012)) The signage of this resolution will help everyone deal with many of the issues that may arise from this product. This type of action from all the parties will also help with any government that may impose any sanctions on the product itself. By creating a supply chain around the world Boeing will have representation in almost every country and it will help with supply, support and increase domestic energy.

Many of the new products that come out on the market must be able to pass certain test before it is given the OK to be used. It is especially important when we are discussing fuels that are used all around the world. Boeing must be able to first get approval from the US government to sell the product here in the country. This will be done by applying for licensing of the product and using that license to be able to sell under all states. As we have discussed, the UCC has certain rules that companies must be able to follow when distribution of their product crosses state lines. (Bagley, C.E., 7 Savage, D. W. (2010)) This is done because the UCC wants to makes sure that everyone is protected and it also shows that each state has certain regulations companies need to follow. Because we will also see sales of this product internationally, Boeing and the suppliers must comply with the rules that govern all of the countries that will be involved not only in the sale but also in the distribution on this product. Much of the sales might be done online and over a computer. When this type of transaction is done in this manner, then both parties must follow the rules and regulations that govern a transaction done electronically. Accepting and verifying that each party if able to conduct this transaction is very important because then you begin to discuss fraud.

Because we are also talking about distribution of this product in other areas of the world, distribution and how this product is going to be delivered needs to be address. Boeing needs to be able to address how the laws will affect them if the product they are distributing is effective or not in compliance. Many of the distribution places must also have a contingency plan in place to be able to deal with any out of control situation. Environmental laws will also play a major part of this initiative. Many of the laws that are in place to make sure these companies are doing the right thing will drill down on a company’s records to see that they are doing the right thing. We have seen how any bad publicity can harm a company. BP for example is still recovering from the oil spill it had several years ago. Along with a tarnish image, they are also still paying billions of dollars out to make things right.

Along with making sure that Boeing and the rest of the companies are doing their part to make this fuel safe, they also need to make sure that if anything does change that they are providing that information to the public and the government. By not providing any changes they are putting themselves in a position to be sued by anyone. Being negligence because they do not want to comply with certain rules or regulations will do much more harm than good. By providing a product that will have many benefits to everyone will be much more rewarding to Boeing. Some other things that Boeing needs to address are the way their information is safe and secure. Much of the testing and research that may be done will need to be license and it will be something that Boeing will probably have right to. Boeing must also take responsibility to their development of the product. They must stand by it and be there through the good times and bad. Their product must be reliable and it must perform to the expectations that are set forth by the company. If it is not reliable, then Boeing and the rest of the teams involved must be able to make changes and support any change to be able to meet the specification of the product. Without this reliability from Boeing, they will have a very hard time driving this product in the market. It will also bring many lawsuits that they do not want to happen. It is better to address the issue up front and deal with it rather than sweeping it under the rug.

Advice to a Friend on Choosing a Mistress

...30/11/2013 Rhetorical Analysis of Advice to a Friend on Choosing Mistress Advice to a Friend on Choosing Mistress is a letter written by Benjamin Franklin in June 25th 1745 to his friend. The speech of this letter is essentially communicated to single men. The author gave advices particularly to his friend on which type of woman he should date if he is not ready to get married. Franklin preceded his lustful consulting by an apology for the marriage, recalling his friend how much carnal pleasures are favourable in a legal and recognized union. In his message, Franklin advises his friend that marriage is the best solution not for only sexual desires but also the undisputable source of solid happiness. Having suspicions that his friend would not follow his guidance, Franklin recommends him to choose older mistresses instead of younger ones and lists eight valuables reasons to better support his argument. Franklin commences his essay by presenting advantages of the marriage. He says ‘’ I know of no medicine fit to diminish the violent inclinations you mention…Marriage is the proper remedy. It is most natural state of man and therefore the state in which you can are most likely to find solid happiness’’. Through those sentences, Franklin seems to estimate that from a masculine’ view, one of the main advantages of the marriage is to bring pacification toward requirements of the flesh. The recipient of the letter who was the friend of the author seemed to be looking for...

What Is the Issue Mark Twain Is Satirizing on "Advice to Youth"?

...It seems to me that Twain is actually satirizing adult or "learned" behavior, or perhaps conformity in general. Notice how he treats several topics, such as obedience, deference or respect, and lying. He inserts certain words that betray the stated purpose. For example, he writes, "obey your parents, when they are present," because they "think they know better than you," actually implying that parents do not know more. Regarding respect, he writes, "Respect your superiors, if you have any...," as if to say there may be none superior to you. His discussion of lying is very interesting. He warns youth "to be very careful about lying," or else "you are nearly sure to get caught." He then continues the discussion of how we should not lie until we've grown & learned enough to become "perfect" liars, with "confidence, elegance, and precision." He then continues to further support his theme of the adult world that so admires a "lie well told" that it rewards the liar with profit & accolades. Twain advises youth to start "early" to learn "this gracious and beautiful art...If I had begun earlier, I would have learned how." One view might be that he is advising youth to prepare to join & be competent in adult life, in which disobedience, disrespect, and lying might be considered survival skills. However, considering that the true purpose of satire is to try & bring change, it is more likely that Twain is satirizing the "do as I say - not as I do" adult world. I believe his comments are...

...Natasha Foxworth Spring -A 2012 “The Complications of the ‘Mother/ Daughter’ relationships” Jamaica Kincaid’s “Girl” (1978) is a short story; single sentence of advice a mother imparts to her daughter. Her daughter only twice interrupts the mother to ask a question and defend herself. The advice is meant to be useful but it is also demeaning. It seemed to be meant to help her daughter to have a productive life but also to scold her at the same time. In general, a mother tends to think highly of their daughters and wants to teach them all of the important aspects of life. The reality of the matter is that a Mother can only teach her child from her own experiences, weather the experiences are positive or negative. This is why I feel that “Girl”, shows the various ways that a relationship between a mother and daughter can be complicated. A mother’s womanhood, self-esteem, vulnerability and education all plays a major roles on how she instructs her daughter. The online resource enotes.com, “Girl: Introduction”, states that Jamaica Kincaid was born Elaine Potter Richardson in 1949. Native of Antigua, in the British West Indies, but changed her name when she started writing because her family disliked her career choice. She went to New York at the age of 17, taking a job as a nanny. During this time she met New Yorker columnist George S. Trow, who eventually helped her publish in the magazine. Much of Kincaid’s work deals with the ramifications of Antigua’s...

Is There Still a Role for Judgment in Decision-Making?

... Is good old-fashioned intuition out of date? What do YOU think? by James Heskett In the last several years, a veritable tsunami of advice on how to make decisions has hit the Internet and what few shelves remain in our local bookstores. The advice is a distant relative of early ideas about decision theory in which we were advised to construct decision trees, mapping outcomes, attaching values to each one, and estimating probabilities that various combinations of outcomes might occur. Judgment entered into the construction of the resulting "decision trees," but the process itself was a way of injecting a certain amount of objectivity and analysis into the decision to be made. In recent years, we have been advised to make certain decisions in a "blink" by Malcolm Gladwell, to "think twice" by Michael Mauboussin, and to think "fast and slow" by Daniel Kahneman. The replacement of customs and biases with data, "big" or "small," has been intended, at least in part, to drive out such things as tradition, habit, and even superstition in endeavors ranging from child rearing to professional sports. After all, wasn't the book and film, Moneyball, at least in part a glorification of the triumph of statistics and probabilities over intuition and managerial judgment in professional baseball? Two recent books add to the genre of advice on decision-making. One advises us how to make better decisions. The other helps us ensure that we don't allow our decisions to get sidetracked...

If You Could Go Back in Time

...Kendy S. Sumlin Mrs. Nettles English 0090 29 June 2014 Three advice I would give myself if I can go back in time Time is something most people don’t have much of these days. Time passes by so fast! People end-up making decisions that at the end, changes their lives. If I had the chance to visit myself back in time, it would be at sixteen years old. Teenagers think they know it all, just like I use to think. I’ve noticed that time is short, and my decisions affected my future. I would choose to visit myself at my house, sitting on the couch, when I would start talking to myself; advising myself on topics that impact life. If I would could have heard myself, my outcome would be different. At this age I started looking for advice, and unfortunately I didn’t find any. I would advise myself to first get a solid education, give myself time to find that special person, and lastly, not hold resentment. First advice would be to get a solid education. When I was sixteen, my dad gave a car to my older sister for her birthday. We both went to the same high school. My sister would skip school all the time, but hated to go by herself. She would take me on ride along with her. I really thought she was cool and anything she did was great. I looked up to her because she would do things that I was never allowed to do. Things took a turn when I became a young adult. Since I didn’t finish school, I ended up getting a low paying job. It is very hard to live on minimum wage when you have...

Asking myself, am I in love? But then because of my immaturity, I disregard my parents’ advice. I let myself being close to him and unfortunately, in the end I got dumped and left alone full of pain and all I can do is to cry. I think this is usual to us in our adolescence days. There really comes a time wherein what we want is contradicting to our parents’ wants for us and because of this we feel that we are deprive of our freedom to choose. I can still remember the days when I was courted by someone for almost three years. Everyday my parents always gave me advice on this thing. There came a point that we quarrel because I get irritated because they keep on advising me. But, then I never answered him because it seems I felt it is not yet the right time for me to be committed to someone. I said that let’s just be happy on what we are now, I thought he understands me but then just right after my 18th birthday, he texted me and said that he needed space and he just go away explaining nothing. In that way I ended up hating him. This experience was the most regretful in my 18 years of existence, for not following my parents.
