Being able to go see a doctor when sick is something many people take for granted. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has made something as simple as seeking medical treatment when needed possible for many Americans. The Affordable Care Act is an act in the healthcare system that was enacted into law by President Obama in 2010. The Affordable Care Act has three main objectives; making healthcare insurance affordable and available to many Americans, expanding the Medical care insurance to cover all adults earning less than the 138 percent of the national poverty level, and promoting innovative procedures of delivering the medical care so as to lower healthcare costs (Schembri & Ghaddar, 2018). However, the ACA is still faced with challenges based on grounds of overall quality of the healthcare, cost, coverage, and accountability. There is a concern on whether all individuals in the US have the right to health care and the extent to which they should be covered. Majority of government offices, especially the President office in the modern world are centered on public leadership by employing media to effectively communicate the president’s ideologies to the people. Various media platforms are used to communicate various views against or in support of the Affordable Care Act. For example, the local television news serves as the main source of news to the Americans. Media serves an important role in influencing public policies. The ideologies communicated to people influence their opinions and decisions regarding public policies such as the choosing and implementation of the healthcare options. For example, media creates awareness in regard to various options provided by a given healthcare insurance.
