“At 18? At 21? Should you be able to fight in a war before you can rent a car? Is it cruel to sentence a teenager to life without parole? Why are our laws and rules on this issue so inconsistent, and how do they affect you?” Contrary to what most americans believe the age of responsibility should be at least 21.

I believe the age of responsibility should be 25 because the most important part of the brain the cerebral cortex (which is resposile for decision making) is not fully developed until your mid 20s around 25. We should not give these kids and even “adults” the responsibility until the decision making part of their brain is developed. Not all people under this age will make bad decisions but it would be a lot safer and i believe we would have a lot less accidents and casualties because the decision making part of their brain will be fully developed so they will not make that one dumb deciosion that could end another life. …show more content…
I feel that the age of responsibility is 18 because this is around the age you are usually separated by your parents because of going to college, going to get your own job, etc. Although they will be on their own and making their own decisions they are now being held accountable for their actions and their parents can not save them from their bad decisions anymore. Even before the passing of the 26th amendment the legal voting age and the age of responsibility was

When dealing with confidentiality in the healthcare profession the acting provider does not suppose to disclose information. Take minors for example; they are protected under (FERPA) Family Educational Rights Privacy Act. FERPA has been known to protect minors in regards to educational purposes, important files, documents, photography and etc. After the minor reaches the age of 18 their rights are then transferred to them from their parent. Confidentiality is very risky and complicated when dealing with a minor, social workers and other persons involved are very cautious when giving out information about minors. Information Literacy

...How Information Literacy Relates to the SPL Model in Education Theresa McInnes University of Phoenix How Information Literacy Relates to the SPL Model in Education In an age where information is available with a single keystroke, Information Literacy (IL) is a foundational necessity. Striving to become a productive component in a global society, educators recognize many basic skills have been lost in the process (Badke, 2009). The speed of technology has replaced notable research tools such as paper books, paper pads and pens. Public demands for acquiring research quicker than previously available has weakened the reliability of the research available (Larsen, 1997). In relation to education, the processing speed information technology brings, directly impacts literacy, integrity and responsibility in regards to the Scholarship, Practice, and Leadership Model. Scholarship and Information Literacy Russell (2009) described the vast amount of information as overwhelming, which in turn drives many students to seek out easier but less reliable alternatives such as Dictionary.com or Wikipedia (p.92). As educators and life-long learners, educating students, while young, of the difference between reliable sources for credible information and quick-fix sites is crucial. A non-scholarly leader may underestimate the value of information literacy. Without the ability to know when information may be required, how to seek, evaluate and process information, or how to use...

Should the Minimum Age of Responsibility Be Raised

...Should the minimum age of criminal responsibility be raised? ‘Boys will be boys’, but at what age does this no longer apply? At what age is a boy expected to take on the responsibilities of a man? The Children and Young Persons Act 1963 (s.16) provides that ‘It shall be conclusively presumed that no child under the age of ten years can be guilty of an offence’. This means that once a child in the UK reaches the age of ten they are as exposed and liable to the full weight of the law the same as any adult. The UK currently has the lowest minimum age of criminal responsibility (except Scotland at 8 but cannot be prosecuted until 12) within the European Union. This places the UK significantly below the average of 14 years old. There seems to be little justification for this deviance from the norm in regards to the minimum age of responsibility in the UK and there have been considerable publications pushing for the UK to raise the minimum age of criminal responsibility in the last decade, providing substantial evidence in favour of doing so. The evidence supporting the need to raise this minimum age can be found not only in psychology and scientific research regarding the brain development of youth and autonomy of children at this age, but also the severe social implications of criminalizing our youth. In order to argue that the minimum age of criminal responsibility (MACR) should be raised it will be necessary to identify and evaluate this evidence, as well as identifying...

...Computer Mediated Communication Final Reflection Paper on Group Collaboration Project COMM.444 The online environment, and in particular, computer mediated communication is an effective medium to provide the social aspect of learning emphasized with collaborative learning. Collaborative and cooperative interactions can occur within virtual teams and groups based on how information is exchanged and requiring group members to formulate opinions and facilitate goals to accomplish. The utilization of a variety of CMC tools also helped our group establish a more collaborative and cooperative approach towards developing content and creativity, distributing tasks, creating a more cohesive online work environment. Through formulating certain ideas through our topic of CMC and its influence in online dating, we were able to give and receive feedback and evaluation from peers, gain greater knowledge into CMC principles, develop virtual interpersonal skills and critical thinking skills which are very important (Harasim et.al. 1995). Active participation strengthens learning. A learner is regarded as present online only when he or she makes a comment. Career Development: Whose Responsibility Is It?

...Newcastle Assessment 1 ESSAY “Career development: Whose responsibility is it?” Introduction: Career development refers to the “lifelong process of managing learning, work, leisure and transitions” (Parker, 2015). Employee career development is not only vital for the individual’s career but it is also an essential part of business survival strategies (Gololo, 2013). In order to effectively address the question “Career development: Whose responsibility is it?”, this essay will consider the effects of changing business environment on the nature of career development. Research examples, such as Hall’s and Inkson’s articles, are useful in explaining the highly turbulent and complex business environment whilst also differentiating the role each person plays in a modern organisation. The idea of a protean career is essential in understanding whose responsibility one’s career development belongs to. The combination of the changing business environment, as well as the protean career approach to career development, will establish an essential foundation for this essay. The empirical information gathered from a joint research paper conducted by the University of Phoenix in conjunction with EdAssist – “The Story Behind Career Development: Who is responsible?” helps to investigate the current trends within the workplace and how they are evolving. Course Paper

...my argumentation paper I plan on discussing the drinking limit and why I feel it should be lowered to 18 instead on 21. There has been an ongoing controversy in the United States on whether the drinking age should be lowered to 18, like most of the world, or if it should stay at 21. Underage drinking has been a major controversial issue for years; yet why is it not under control? Teenagers are continuing to buy alcohol with fake identification cards, get into bars, and drink illegally. As a teen, I have proof that these things are going on not only in college but in high school as well. There are a lot of factors that come together to why the drinking age should be lowered to 18. The most obvious reason is too many people are drinking before they are 21. Liquor stores, bars, and clubs all want to make money and if they can get away with selling to underage teens then they will. My opinion along with a growing number of people across the country is questioning the reason of the 21 legal drinking ages. Throughout history, people have always wanted what they can’t have. Today, many teenagers experience different things in the world. Teens are always eager to try something different or new. One of the things that teenagers try is drinking alcohol. Around the 1980s many states changed the legal drinking age from 18 to 21. The theory behind this was, that if you increase the drinking age, people will drink more responsibly, because with age comes responsibility. Unfortunately, the...
