Adults and Children with Learning and Development Disabilities Inc is a leading not for profit agency on Long Island that proudly provide and serve the needs of individuals with development disabilities and their families as well.
Their main purpose is to help every child and adult that walks through those doors, giving them they assistants that they need. Their mission is to provide the opportunity for children, teens and adults with disabilities to pursue enviable lives, to increase their independence and to improve their quality. Individual Residential Alternatives Twenty-four hour supervised living opportunities are provided in 28 homes throughout Nassau County. They will accomplish this by: Assisting individuals to make meaningful choices, develop significant relationships and have productive, healthy and enjoyable lives.
Communicating and partnering with families to ensure that the individuals that they support are always the central focus. Providing an organizational culture which supports professional development and a commitment to the achievement of individual dreams. Lastly, creating collaborative and supportive relationships with the community partners that promotes inclusion and excellence.
The major components of “continuum of care” for adults with learning and developmental disabilities are: Home and Independent Living, Support
Employment, Evaluation and Training, Day Services, Service Coordination, Family
Support Services and Recreation. ACLD’s funding for these services are provided by New York State office. For people with developmental disabilities (OPWDD),
Local o0ffice of Vocational and Education Services for Individuals with disabilities
(VESID), Medicaid as well as family donations volunteers donations. ACLD serves individuals with learning disabilities, Neurological Impairment,
Autism and Cerebral Palsy; they have 24 hrs supervised living opportunities in 26 different homes throughout Nassau and Suffolk. They academic training needed for some positions require High School diploma with a year or more experience.
Higher positions require Bachelors or Masters in Psychology with experience. The training required for all positions CPR (which is provided by NSLFJ), AMAP, Certification and SCIP training.
ACLD may use or disclose your health information if we are required by law to do so. ACLD will notify you of these uses and disclosures if notice is required by law.
ACLD may disclose your health information if we are ordered to do so by a court or administrative tribunal that is handling a lawsuit or other dispute. ACLD may disclose your health information to law enforcement officials for the following reasons:
To comply with court orders or laws that we are required to follow;
To assist law enforcement officials with identifying or locating a suspect, fugitive, witness, or missing person;
If you have been the victim of a crime and we determine that: (1) we have been unable to obtain your consent because of an emergency or your incapacity; (2) law enforcement officials need this information immediately to carry out their law enforcement duties; and (3) in our professional judgment disclosure to these officials is in your best interests;
If we suspect that your death resulted from criminal conduct;
If necessary to report a crime that occurred on our property; or
If necessary to report a crime discovered during an offsite medical emergency (for example, by emergency medical technicians at the scene of a crime).
