The excerpt I used show that Huck Finn claims although he does not believe in prayer, he still did it when he was hungry. He prayed for food, but he only prayed because the widow did it. Huck Finn doesn’t really know how it works. When the boat approached and looking for his dead body, he had to hold his breath to hide from them.

Huck Finn was hungry and tried to find bread with quicksilver which people use it to find the dead body on the river. “A big double loaf come along, and I most got it with a long stick, but my foot slipped and she floated out further.” He tried to use a stick to get that loaf of bread the he slipped and the bread just float further and further. He missed the first loaf and prayed to God for one more, eventually there was a second piece came to him. It was ironic that at the beginning of the novel, he claimed that he didn’t believe in God, however, when he was starving, he started praying to God for another loaf of bread.

Furthermore,Huck Finn does not believe in prayer and he does not know how did it work for them. In this novel, he said “that is, there's something in it when a body like the widow or the parson prays, but it don't work for me,” This sentence implied that Huck Finn does not trust in God and prayer. He does not understand the “way” of how prayer works for them. Although he did prayed for food, he didn’t really know why he did it. He just did it because someone else he knew did it before.

Huck Finn was playing dead in the last paragraph, “By and by she come along, and she drifted in so close that they could a run out a plank and walked ashore. Most everybody was on the boat. Pap, and Judge Thatcher, and Bessie Thatcher, and Jo Harper, and Tom Sawyer, and his old Aunt Polly, and Sid and Mary, and plenty more” the boat looking for him was very close and they can find Huck Finn by a reach. Huck can even

Netscape's Public Offering

...Netscape's Initial Public Offering Executive summary Netscape Communications Corporation was one of the big players in the dot-com era and information technology boom of the late 1990's and contributed in making the Internet and World Wide Web known to common people. On August 9, 1995, Netscape went through the initial public offering (IPO) process. Dramatically, on August 8, the day before the IPO, Netscape's lead IPO underwriters recommended to the Netscape board to increase the initial offering price to $28 per share from $14 per share, a 100% increase. At this new offering price, the Netscape's value would suddenly climb to more than $1 billion, which when held together with their 1995 revenue of some $16 million, to many seemed like a very optimistic firm value. Furthermore, the company was only 16 months old and had yet to turn a profit. The big question was: What yearly revenue growth rate is needed to support a firm value of $1 billion and an IPO price of $28 per share, and is this growth rate realistic? To answer this question we have performed NPV analysis for the period 1995-2005 based on Netscape's income statement and balance sheet for 1994/1995 together with a number of assumptions stated later in the text. We found that a yearly revenue growth of 59.4% was necessary to justify an IPO price of $28 per share and thereby a firm value of $1 billion. Even if Netscape was the indisputable leader of its kind in 1995 the number of competitors was on a steady rise...

...While still a little confused in what is being said, I feel like the power law may connect to Jefferson’s statement of not knowing because the power law in and of itself cannot be determined until plotted out. Unlike other graphs, the power law creates graphs that can have any number of outcomes with skewed results. The quote in the book, “Focus on what you understand and can explain; save what you don’t and can’t for your next book, after you’ve figured it out,” is actually a really good quote. Power law graphs, from what I understand anyway, take what is known about the internet and with the graph it’s able to figure out what it doesn’t know; just as Notes is Jefferson’s book on what he does know as well as what he doesn’t know. At least, that’s what I got from it. Question: Why does Internet Explorer run so much slower than Chrome or Firefox? What I think: Because it has to transfer more data to a server that is way too far out of date. What is Acid3? (Found this while looking up the answer) Apparently it tests just how fast and good a browser works. The better the web, the more colorful rectangles you get. I feel like I know what each of the protocols mentioned in chapter seven are, but I’m not exactly quite sure what they do. Web Presence

...From your experience, what elements make it difficult to access a new website or its information? Websites accessibility and usability play a pivotal role in the success of a website. Good usability provides a rewarding experience for visitors. For me the elements that make it difficult to access a new website are: Typography and colour contrast: Good contrast between background and text makes content engage user intelligible. Lack of contrast makes it very difficult for visitors to read your content. Bad information Architecture (Over crowded /overpopulated site): Information and resources should be organized in a way to attract its target market, information should be categorized and sectioned for the ease of use. An overpopulated site can take away from its content and diminishes its function to vocalize the objectives of the company. Unsolicited pop-up windows: Although these were created to entice you into making purchases, some are bogus and can be detrimental to your system. Browser inconsistency (Browser and operating systems incompatibility): The Web site may display a message that indicates that you must use a supported browser; this can be time consuming or may request the experts which may be costly to user. It is imperative for companies to ensure that their sites appear and behave consistently across all major browsers such as Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Opera as they add to the image of the company. Language barrier- Possibility...

The Three Browsere

...The three browsers that I would be speaking of are Mozilla Firefox , Google Chrome and Opera. These three browsers are the main browsers on the market at the present point in time they are all used world wide and are used by millions each between themselves as individual browsers. They are all supportive of cross platform use Windows Os , Mac Os and Linux Os and can also be used on portable devices such as tablets and cell phones. Opera being the older of the three has been around for quite some time in fact since 1994 when it was started as a research project at Telenor a Norwegian telecommunications company. In 1995, the project branched out into a separate company named Opera Software ASA, and launched a version in 1996.Opera has made many upgrades since then, and introduced notable features such as Speed Dial. The Opera browser was named MultiTorg up until version 2.0 and was not available to the public. Opera was known for its multiple document interface (MDI) and 'hotlist' (sidebar), which made browsing several pages at once much easier as with the other 2 browsers Mozilla and Chrome In February 2013, Opera Software announced that their proclaimed rendering engine, Presto, would be phased out in favour of WebKit which is carried also by Mozilla and Chrome.[4] Opera 15 saw the browser being fully rewritten, with this and subsequent releases being based on Blink and Chromium Os. Even with as many features carried Opera browser is recommended for slower and earlier...

Module 1 - Session Long Project

...All of my comparisons are limited due to the fact that during this SLP I was forced to switch to a government laptop that I was unable to download browsers to. My primary personal browser is Google Chrome. I choice to use this browser after it was introduced to me by a friend several years ago. I appreciate the simplicity of it and it’s functionality. However, upgrades over the years have changed the interface considerably and made certain things like internet options hard to locate at times. I have had minor issues with the browser seeming to crash however, it is hard to tell if it is the browser itself or the computer that is causing the problems. I have an appreciation for the fact that I am able to identify multiple home pages and every I open up the browser all of the pertinent pages are immediately available for me to access. Overall, Chrome has been a great browser with only minor issues. At work I use Internet Explorer. I have found no issues with this browser and believe the only reason I don’t use it personally is for a change of scenery. Explorer seems to offer all of the same functions that Chrome has as well as the occasional crash. Because the Air Force remains loyal to Microsoft, the one plus to Explorer is that it is the only browser that will operate all of the online applications that the Air Force requires we use. Other than this minor detail, I have found no difference in the functionality. Another browser that I’ve been able to experiment...

Week 8 Discussion: Visual Basic Programming

...•Imagine that your company has decided to expand to the Web. You want to reuse some data entry code that has been developed in Windows and place it on the Web. Visual Basic code has the capability to run on a Web server. Explain the process you would go through to develop a Web page locally. You can create HTML pages and Web Forms pages as the user interface for a Web application. HTML pages are generally used for static content. In contrast, Web Forms pages give you a programmable interface that works much like a Visual Basic form, except that the user interface is rendered in a Web browser or other Web device. Web Forms pages are built on the ASP.NET Page framework. Each Web Forms page is an object that derives from the ASP.NET Page class, which acts as a container for controls. The page actually consists of two files: an .aspx file that contains the UI elements (static HTML text and control elements) and a class file that contains the code that runs the page. •Internet Explorer is the number-one Web browser, but many users are moving to Chrome and Firefox Web browsers. Each of these browsers has slight differences in displaying the screen content. Explain how this can occur to your Web screen and any ways to prevent this. Web Forms applications are, by definition, platform-independent — that is, they are "reach" applications. Users can interact with your application regardless of what type of browser they have and even what type of computer they are using. At the same time...

Suppy Chain Mangement

...FAQs Answers to frequently asked questions – FAQs SIX COMMON CAUSES OF CONFUSION… PLEASE READ! 1. SCM Globe runs best under two browsers – Chrome and Safari. It will also run under Firefox, but sometimes it runs slowly under Firefox. And it DOES NOT run under Microsoft Internet Explorer. You can download a free copy of the Chrome or Firefox browsers by going to the websites of those browser makers. If Microsoft is your regular browser, Chrome and Firefox co-exist well with Microsoft. You can use Chrome or Firefox when working with SCM Globe. And you can return to the Microsoft browser for other tasks. One of those features is triggered when you download simulation results from SCM Globe to your PC. In the Firefox browser when you click on the “Export Results to Excel” button it will cause Firefox to open a dialog box. The dialog box will ask “What should Firefox do with this file?” There are two options: 1) Open with; or 2) Save File. Select “Save File”. The simulation data will then download as a data file to your PC in whatever folder you use for downloading from the Internet. The file will be something called an “octet-stream” instead of a .csv file. . Unlike a .csv file, you cannot open this file unless you open it from within your spreadsheet application. So open up your spreadsheet application (MS Excel, Apple Numbers, Google Sheets, etc.) and then open the simulation data file that you just downloaded. It will open correctly inside your spreadsheet application. ...

Example of a Job Application

...Previously in my career, I’ve worked in an administrative role, which required me to complete many of the roles that are required of me as part of this role. I enjoy completing administration duties on a day to day basis. I find job tasks like photocopying, scanning and filing satisfying when I complete them to an acceptable standard. Whilst working for Cigna Europe Insurance Services as an Outbound Telemarketing Representative, my day to day tasks involve answering phone calls and emails. The phone calls, whilst as an Outbound Telemarketing Representative, would be made on an automated dialler, and I would speak to customers of the RAC or AA in a professional and confident manner, in order to achieve consistent sales targets on a month to month basis. Currently I am in a different role in the same company, as a Retention Telemarketing Representative, which is a challenging role that requires retaining policies that customers wish to cancel, or make amendments to. Whilst speaking to a customer that may wish to cancel, I am required to access different systems on the computer, and by having strong typing speeds, a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail, I am able to complete my role to a competent level. In my administrative roles previously, I’ve managed Excel documents to a reputable standard that are easy to use for other members of staff. These roles required data entry, and access to other databases in Excel...

Internet Browser Research Paper

...Which Browser is Best: Determining the Benefits to Each Browser Which Browser is Best: Determining the Benefits to Each Browser The purpose of this research paper is to take the reviews from users to help highlight both the positives as well as the negatives of the top four widely used Internet browsers, which will ultimately help determine which browser is the best available for consumers to use. The purpose of this study is to determine which browser is the best out of the four, and to highlight the best features from each browser, and determine their significance on how each feature is. The significance of the study is to analyze the information given on each browser and translate it into information that Internet users can take away to help them determine which browser is the best one for them between Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, and Chrome. The Internet has become more readily available across the globe which has caused many software developers to create their own Internet browser. In the past couple of years there has been a flood of Internet browsers available for use (Bidgoli, 2009). When the Internet was only available in select countries there was only a select number of browsers that a user could use to access the Internet. The Internet is only going to become available to more people which will most likely bring more Internet browsers to the market. There are currently millions of users that are accessing the Internet daily and each browser...

Analysis of Kudler Food's

...Web237 04-02-2012 Dr. Janelle Elias Kudler Food’s aspires to move the direction of their current business model to the realm of e-commerce. In comparison to other organizations in the same business of providing specility foods, this is a smart business choice that would benefit the company immensely and substantially increase accessibility. Currently Kudler Food’s utilizes a website to bring the quality product they offer to a larger audience. The website currently is actually well constructed, though, the design is very basic. There is much room for improvement. Implementing the attributes of an online store brings added benefits. Some these benefits include: * Allows people to carry out businesses without the barriers of time or distance. One can log on to the Internet at any point of time, be it day or night and purchase or sell anything one desires at a single click of the mouse. * The direct cost-of-sale for an order taken from a web site is lower than through traditional means (retail, paper based), as there is no human interaction during the on-line electronic purchase order process. Also, electronic selling virtually eliminates processing errors, as well as being faster and more convenient for the visitor. * Ecommerce is ideal for niche products. Customers for such products are usually few. But in the vast market place i.e. the Internet, even niche products could generate viable volumes. * Another important benefit of Ecommerce is that it is...
