Fashion a manner of doing something or a trend of clothing. I considered myself fashionable in both ways. The way I care my self is very important. I am a firm believer in first impressions are lasting impressions. When people see me I want them to know that I respect myself and others enough to look decent. Now I’m not a name brand fanatic, but I do like fashion. I do own brands such as Louis Vuitton and Gucci but that’s not the only thing I would wear. I wear anything that looks good on me. I figured that I have the best of both worlds. Even though I have expensive things, I am not pressed on having them. When it comes to trends I have my own since of style. I try not to follow the trend that others do. Even though I do feel more confident when I have a high-end brand on it does not make me, I make the clothes. Do not mistake my taste for me being high class because like I said have no problem wearing generic brand clothing. I am an athlete so you will see me in sweats when I’m on campus.
“ I want to stop using the term 'fashion' because Eve made Adam bite an apple, and since then, it's been illegal to be naked. I'm helping people follow the law in style. I'm helping people with their opinion of how to follow the law. This isn't about fashion. I'm creating new standards: things so you don't have to think about it. 'Fashion' is too high a skill set. It just needs to be easy, easy as a hoodie and jeans that I'm wearing.” –Kanye West

Fashion Chaneel

...2075 JUNE 1, 2007 WENDY STAHL The Fashion Channel Introduction Dana Wheeler, senior vice president of marketing for The Fashion Channel (TFC), sat in her Chicago office and scrolled through the email messages in her inbox. Thankfully, none required an urgent reply. She toggled over to her calendar: no meetings for the rest of the day. Finally, she could focus her thoughts on reviewing her recommendations for TFC’s new segmentation and positioning strategy. Wheeler believed that she had prepared a solid analysis; she felt confident about the strategy she was proposing. But next week’s senior management meeting would mark her first big presentation to the company’s leaders since she had joined TFC, and, she admitted to herself, she was eager to gain the support of her colleagues. There was a lot riding on the outcome of this meeting, both for Wheeler and for the channel. If founder and CEO Jared Thomas and his team liked what they heard, Wheeler would move forward to implement her recommendations. The company needed to strengthen its competitive position and would be spending more than $60 million in all national and affiliate advertising, promotion, and public relations in 2007, based on these recommendations. This would be an increase of $15 million over 2006 spending. Background TFC was a successful cable TV network– and the only network dedicated solely to fashion, with up-to-date and entertaining features and information broadcast 24 hours per day, 7 days per week...

Singapore Fashion Industry

...brutal competition, Singapore’s fashion industry experiences a rebirth April 20, 2012 by Terence LEE It's a packed house at the retail launch of PARCO next NEXT's new labels on 14th April. Globalization has dealt local fashion labels a bad hand. It used to be that fashion designers in Singapore could fill a niche between mass market apparel from the department stores and expensive luxury brands. David Wang, vice president of the Textile & Fashion Federation (TaFf), lived in that era. As a local fashion pioneer in the 80′s, the runway for him to maneuver was much wider. Global brands like Topshop, Uniqlo, and H&M were not around to compete for the Singaporean’s fashion budget. But the times changed. “During my time, Singaporeans had pride in local brands. The good old days are gone. Now they look at price,” he says, “they’re very practical. If they look at a dress from a local designer that’s $399, they won’t support her. They’d rather go to H&M to pick up an entirely new wardrobe.” While there’s a lot of hullabaloo these days about the power of e-commerce as a powerful, superlative, enabler for startups, David cautions that the Internet’s low barrier of entry results in more competition. Some blogshops, for example, offer cutthroat prices for their items. In the face of such a brutal environment, PARCO next NEXT was started in 2010 to prop up the local fashion scene. It is a fashion incubator that picks promising fashion designers and puts them under an...
