Abstract
This paper will discuss Alan Mulally, CEO, for Ford Motor Company. First, I will mention his role of leadership and how it can impact organizational performance. Secondly, I will examine Mulally’s leadership style and provide examples of how his actions and performance fits this style. Thirdly, it will be important to notice how goal setting has helped Ford improve its performance. Next, I will assess Mulally’s on each element in communication openness including message transmission, trust, agendas, and goals. Lastly, I will analyze if Mulally’s leadership style is effective or should a different style be implemented.

Discuss the role of leadership and how it can impact organizational performance.
Leadership is an important component in any business or organization. According to Hellriegel and Slocum (2011), “Leadership is the process of developing ideas and a vision, living by values that support those ideas and that vision, influencing others to embrace them in their own behaviors or organization” (p.4). Establishing ideas and a vision is a key element in leadership, for example, coming out with next product or feature for the organization or company plans and strategies reveal the skills of an effective leader. It is important as a leader to live by values that support your ideas and vision. In other words, you should practice what you preach or lead by example. An effective leader should use a variation of sources to influence its followers to partake their ideas, visions, and goals. “Leaders demonstrate their own commitment by working hard and setting the pace for others” (Weiss, 2007).
Discuss Mulally’s leadership style at Ford Motor Company and provide examples of how his actions fit this style.
The Situational Leadership Model describes four leadership styles that model leaders can choose from that match the level...

...Analyst information intermediation – private and public information –and the central role of knowledge and social forces in economic processes in the ‘market for information’. John Holland, University of Glasgow, Jo Danbolt, University of Edinburgh, Lei Chen, University of Keele. John Holland, University of Glasgow, The Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, Main Building, Glasgow, G12 8QQ, Scotland Abstract: This paper develops a model of the information intermediation role of analysts in the ‘market for information’ (MFI). It illustrates how the same type of ‘soft’ intangibles information changes as it progresses through analyst information intermediation processes. The latter concern: company disclosure; analyst acquisition and analysis of company information; analyst reporting processes; and market impacts. The common information concerns ‘soft’ or qualitative information about the company intellectual capital (IC) or intangibles in the company business model. Banks and bank analysts are used as examples. Knowledge, social and economic factors in the wider ‘market for information’ (MFI) are shown to be major influences on ‘soft information’ and how it changes in analyst information intermediation processes. Negative knowledge and social factors play a role in weakening and eventually destabilising economic processes in analyst and the MFI. They were important factors in creating knowledge and information problems in analysts and the MFI, both......

It’s Mum’s handwriting, and it’s a list – a very long list – of all the places we lived until I left home. I look at this list now, and there are just so many of them. My eye moves down the page, trying to take in her spidery scribble, and I soon lose track. These places mean very little to me: it’s funny how few of them I can remember. In some cases, I guess that’s because we were hardly there for more than five minutes. But in others, it’s probably more a case of trying to forget about them as soon as possible. When you’re unhappy in a place, you want to forget about it as soon as possible. You don’t dwell on the details of a house if you associate it with being afraid, or ashamed, or poor – and as a boy, I was often afraid and ashamed, and always poor. Life was a series of escapades, of moves that always ended badly. The next place was always going to be a better place – a...
