Milkman went to Danville, Pennsylvania where Pilate and Macon used to stay before their father got killed, Milkman lied so no one knew the true reason of him finding the gold. Milkman flew in a plane to Danville which excited him but he was sad that Guitar didn’t go with him. Guitar wanted to go but Milkman said it would be a little suspect if two men were looking for something in the woods. Before leaving, Milkman tells Guitar that he needs the gold to get away from his family and town. Guitar says that everyone wants the life of a black man and white man wants blacks to be quiet for example Milman’s dad wants to control black men.
