Motivational Concept Table

...In: Business and Management Motivation Concept Analysis Motivation Concept Analysis Motivation in theory – Frederick Herzberg two factor theory Tomala Lewis PSY/320 6/5/2010 Angelica James Motivation Concept Analysis Motivation in theory – Frederick Herzberg two factor theory I agree with Mr. Frederick Herzberg’s two factor theory 100% and without any shadow of a doubt. There is no way any small business or large company can succeed, grow and continue prosperity in the future without the two factors Herzberg theorized. The first of two factors believed by Herzberg is Hygiene factors; Hygiene factors are based on the need for a business to avoid unpleasantness at work. If these factors are considered inadequate by employees, then they can cause dissatisfaction with work. Hygiene factors include company policy and administration, wages, salaries, and other financial remuneration, quality of supervision, quality of inter-personal relations, working conditions, and feelings of job security. The second factor believed by Herzberg is Motivator factors. Motivator factors are based on an individual's need for personal growth. When they exist, motivator factors actively create job satisfaction. If they are effective, then they can motivate an individual to achieve above-average performance and effort. Motivator factors are status, opportunity for advancement, gaining recognition, responsibility, challenging and or stimulating work, and a sense of...

Ocean Carriers

...Carrier Question 1 Daily spot hire rates seems to have a linear relationship with both charter rates and iron ore shipments. If iron ore shipments increase, so do the charter rates for the capsize dry bulk ships. Traditionally, when charter rates rise, spot hire rates will increase even higher than charter rates. A regression analysis, shown in table 1, was used to forecast future iron ore shipments. The estimated shipments for 2002 will increase to 449, 458 in 2003, and 466 in 2004. Also, as shown in exhibit 3, the available number of new capsize vessels in 2002 will decrease by 47.6%. According to the laws of supply and demand, the daily spot hire rates should increase because of the anticipated demand rise for vessels to ship iron ore and the decrease availability of new capsize dry bulk vessels. Table 1 Regression on Iron Ore Question 2 The main factor that determine average daily hire rates is the concept of supply and demand. Simply put, the number of available vessels equals the number of ships in service last year plus new ships delivered minus scrappings and sinkings. As far as supply is concerned, low supply and high demand would cause hire rates to increase. As the fore mentioned equation points out, the company’s fleet size is crucial in quoting a daily hire rate. The delivery of new ships and scrapping of old vessels will constantly shift the fleet size and in turn the hire rates. Demand plays a key role in...

Maketing Management

...Malanum Submitted by: Acuna, Charzel R. Alcoran, Rachelle Anne K. Aquino, Patricia Mae Ann E. AUGUST 2015 Part 1: Channels of Distributions Channels of Distribution Few producers sell their goods directly to final users. Instead, most use intermediaries to bring their products to market. According to Philip Kotler, distribution channel is a set of interdependent organizations that help make a product or service available for use or consumptions by consumer or business user. Here are some definitions from different websites: Goods and services often pass to consumers through multiple channels. While increasing the number of ways in which a consumer can find a good has the potential to increase sales, it also creates a complex system that can make distribution management difficult. In addition, the longer the distribution channel the less profit a product manufacturer might get from the sale. (Distribution Channel Definition| Investopedia http://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/distribution-channel.asp#ixzz3jhyoJ8Pg) The path through which goods and services travel from the vendor to the consumer or payments for those products travel from the consumer to the vendor. A distribution channel can be as short as a direct transaction from the vendor to the consumer, or may include several interconnected intermediaries along the way such as wholesalers, distributers, agents and retailers. Each intermediary receives the item at one pricing point and movies it to the next higher...

...Introduction The core business of my company is ship management, the parent company owns a fleet of seventy ships and charters an equal number, majorly comprising of oil tankers and bulk carriers. The fleet management of the owned tonnages are carried out from offices based in Rome&Singapore. The chartering and pre- post fixture operations of the owned & chartered tonnages are carried out from shipping business hubs across various time zones like Singapore , Dubai, Monte Carlo , London, Stamford .For our owned tonnages we are a functional department for the chartering division who are marketing the ships. As ship managers we market our expertise on third party ship management to other ship-owners. We are also involved in new ship building consultancy services which need the marketing of our technical expertise. The economic crisis of 2008 and the ongoing euro zonecrisishave changed the global economic landscape, affecting trade and movement of goods along major shipping routes. Economic slowdown compounded with surplus global tonnage have put ship owners, financers, investors, creditors and other participants in the market in a state of disarray with questions of bankruptcy and restructuring engulfing them. As no immediate market recovery is projected, shipping companies are trying to develop new strategies to remain competitive and as...
