Susan Silton’s sculpture, “Bomb, Leaflet”, displays a green missile that has the word, “empty” written on the side. Her art piece refers to the “weapons of mass destruction” that were found in Iraq. She exhibits a powerful disapproval to the war in Iraq, like most of the other art pieces in “The Look of Law”. “Bomb, Leaflet” addresses the theme of the exhibition by pointing out the key aspect of poor political decisions in a variety of ways. In a long letter to his brother Theo posted January 23, 1889, he mentions creating this painting alongside several other issues, including the need to make money through picture sales. He likely had the market in mind in painting this still life.
