In Andy Mulligan's novel, Trash, the main character is determined to shape his own destiny. The main characters in this book are, Gardo, Raphael, Rat and Jose Angelico. “They must have…...they killed him.”This quote occurred in the book when Jose Angelico chose not to tell the police where the money he stole was hidden. This quote proves my thesis because when Jose angelico did this, he had 2 choices, to tell the police where the money was or to get killed and not tell anyone where the money he hid was. Jose Angelico’s decision of not telling the police where the money he hid was, got him killed. If Jose Angelico told the police where the money was, he probably would have gotten a less harsh punishment. Another quote in this book is “ how can….. in the bag.” (page …show more content…
This quote happened when Raphael, Gardo and Rat went to the train station, to see what was in the locker. On their way there, Gardo started acting differently. This part proves my thesis because if Gardo chose not to go the train station, then he wouldn’t have these feeling. Since he chose to come, he was acting all differently, and was freaking out. I think if Gardo was coming to the train station for a different reason like buying a water bottle, then he wouldn’t have felt that way. In addition, if the 3 boys chose not to go to the train station, then they wouldn’t have put their lives wouldn’t at risk(the police getting them). Another quote in this book is, “People looked…. Bad luck”(127-128). This part took place when Raphael came back from the police station all bruised and banged up. Everyone looked at Raphael, like he was some kind of bad luck charm. This part proves my thesis because it is showing how Raphael’s decision to continue with the case of Jose Angelico, made everyone look at him like that. Since Raphael kept on going with the case, terrible things happened to him. The police grew suspicious of him, and embarrassed him(arrested him) in front of the whole
