"ANG TIBAY", was the most popular local shoe brand in the Philippines that was founded in 1910 by Toribio Teodoro (1887-1965) and partner Juan Katindig. The renown footwear company actually started making slippers, but by the 1930, it had become a giant industry with modern machines that turned out over a thousand pairs of shoes daily, increasing to 3,000 in the 1950s. Toribio a massed so much wealth that he bought the Manila Grand Opera House. This ad advertised new shoe designs made especially for the Carnival. (1934).

Point of view

For “Ang Tibay” brand, management has chosen to continue with mass production in a limited number of designs, maintaining durability at low selling prices, in spite of failure to attract greater patronage owing to its few designs ad low fashion consciousness.

Main Problem of the Study
The main problem of the study is the innovation of the product, having it focus on its usual mass production, limited design and style at a lower cost upon periods of time.

The sub problem of the study
The mainly focus on the institutional consumer of the army of boots- the armed forces

The fringe benefit that should be enjoyed by the cottage-type shoemakers which are piece rated.

Facts of the study
Ang tibay stood out over all other local labels for quality shoes and slippers in the low price range.

Through the years the Ang Tibay has grown bigger and bigger that from a nipa hut shop to several factory buildings and from two workers up to 500 men and women workforce and from seven pairs of shoes and slippers made is now 3000 pairs of shoes and 800 pairs of slippers.

The two partners chose the tagalog brand name “Ang Tibay” rather than some foreign-sounding brand, at a time in our colonial past when the Filipinos mentality tended to consider imported goods superior to local products.

Solutions
“Ang Tibay” which is well known footwear industry of local made shoes and slipper should implement innovation regarding to the design and styles in their shoes, not just only in its quality. Because nowadays, people are intended to buy shoes which is more fashionable and has quality also. And as days goes by more entrepreneurs can produce shoes and slippers which are trendy and has a quality at a lower cost also.

They should also follow the law pertaining to labor employment that a corporation has to comply at considerable cost with the various labor laws intended in benefits and protect workmen.

Recommendation
I suggest the corporation should continue its operation but must develop the style and the design of the shoes knowing the company is well known in its quality shoes. Furthermore, the benefits as well as the standing of their employees should also be resolve.

Teodoro was the son of poor parents from Tondo. Barely 12-years-old, he began working in a cigar factory. He gave up his job to start a business enterprise with his friend, Juan Katindig. In November 1910, they opened a small shop at 821 Calle Cervantes (now Rizal Avenue) that sold shoes and slippers bearing "Ang Tibay" brand. * He formally registered it as trademark on Sept. 29, 1915. * The two friends' profitable partnership ended in 1921. Ang Tibay Shoes

...Facts: Respondent Toribio Teodoro has continuously used "Ang Tibay," both as a trade-mark and as a trade-name, in the manufacture and sale of slippers, shoes, and indoor baseballs since 1910. On September 29, 1915, he formally registered it as trade-mark and as trade-name on January 3, 1933. Petitioner Ana Ang registered the same trade-mark "Ang Tibay" for pants and shirts on April 11, 1932, and established a factory for the manufacture of said articles in the year 1937. The Court of First Instance of Manila absolved the defendant (Ms. Ang) on the grounds that the two trademarks are dissimilar and are used on different and non-competing goods; that there had been no exclusive use of the trade-mark by the plaintiff; and that there had been no fraud in the use of the said trade-mark by the defendant because the goods on which it is used are essentially different from those of the plaintiff. The Court of Appeals reversed said judgment, directing the Director of Commerce to cancel the registration of the trade-mark "Ang Tibay" in favor of petitioner, and perpetually enjoining the latter from using said trade-mark on goods manufactured and sold by her. Thus, this case, a petition for certiorari. Issue: Are the goods or articles or which the two trademarks are used similar or belong to the same class of merchandise? Ruling: Yes, pants and shirts are goods closely similar to shoes and slippers. They belong to the same class of merchandise as shoes and slippers...

Media Analysis - Eat Drink Man Woman

...world-weary, throat-cutting, miserable bastards we've all had to become disappears, when we're confronted with something as simple as a plate of food” (Bourdain, A, 2000). From the viewpoint of communication studies, food has been, and remains to be, a significant representation in our foundation of meaning. Food, as an everyday necessity of social life, is an important aspect to study as it expresses current social studies through distinct relationships of class, education, gender, and sexuality. In addition, the customs of sharing foods and meals have been key in communicative practices in cultures all over the world. In the following paragraphs, the Taiwanese feature film Eat Drink Man Woman, managed and written by well-known director Ang Lee, who also successfully directed movies such as Brokeback Mountain and Hulk, will be analyzed to see how food is constructed and represented in the movie. In the film it is stated by character Jia-Chien that they “communicate by eating” (Lee, A, 1994). This is important because it displays that food is a form of expression and communication, a form that is commonly misunderstood or avoided. The film Eat Drink Man Woman, articulates communication family and loved ones by representing food as a symbol of the presented themes of relationships, displayed through illustrations of love and admiration. According to PBS, “There is no closer relationship than kin, and food plays a large part in defining family roles, rules, and traditions” (PBS...

Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig

...Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig depicts the life of a poor girl who undergoes several hardships throughout her life and suddenly receives an opportunity to become a professional singer and improve her family’s life. Viewers may come up with one of two insights from watching the movie. First, one may be led to thinking that despite severe suffering and despair, there will always be a happy ending. For this person, the movie seems to reinforce the rags-to-riches archetype. Forget all problems at present; everything will turn out well in the end. “Mapalad ang mga inaapi.” Lupe, portrayed by Sharon Cuneta, has to endure different problems happening all at the same time – “working” as a beggar, living with a mother who doesn’t seem to have any faith in her, being visited by her abusive uncle almost everyday, demanding that they give him money for gambling, even getting impregnated by a man she doesn’t know. Her luck begins to turn around, however, when her talent for singing is discovered at a local singing contest. Things begin to go well for her, despite a few problems with her uncle and the death of her mother, and she ends up engaged to a wealthy man who also happens to offer her a record deal. At the end of the movie, of course, she chooses the man she loves and the father of her child, and they live a fortunate life, thanks to her singing career. Personally, I think that this perspective can be quite problematic, especially when one actually incorporates it in his/her everyday life...
