- Summary: Anna is a senior that is forced to attend a boarding school in Paris. Leaving behind things that she loves, including her best friend, a great job, and a crush. However her attitude changes when she meet the handsome Etienne St. Clair, who is perfect but he’s already taken by his steady girlfriend name Ellie. When she backs to US she knew that her best friend, Bridgette is in relationship with her crush name Christopher. She is very upset and did not want to see Bridgette or even talked to her. Then after she lost her best friend she is being closer with Etienne, which is not good because first Etienne is taken and second Meredith (Anna’s best friend in Paris) likes Etienne. One day, when Anna and Etienne went to park Meredith was looking for Etienne but she is found Anna was kissing with Etienne. That makes her feel bad. Etienne tries to explain it until Meredith forgives them and also Meredith asked them to be a couple because she is fine if someone she loves happy with someone else. Then Etienne tries to explain his feeling to Anna in Eiffel’s Tower, actually Etienne has a phobia of heights but he doesn’t care. He wants to show Anna that he is really care about her and loves her.

- Favorite Character: My favorite character in this book is Anna. The first reason why I like her, because she is very patience and willing to wait for a long time. Second, even though she does not want to move to Paris but she is do it for her mom. And the last is her love story was amazing. I really admire her with Etienne!

- Recommendation: Of course, I recommend this book. This book is adorable, I’m not going to lie. Romantic teenagers love story. I really like this book, especially when Etienne said, “I cheated on her every day. In my mind, I thought of your in ways I shouldn’t have, again and again. She was nothing to compare to you. I’ve never felt this way about anybody before-“ I give this book 4 stars!

Inferno

...Lorena Souza 12/06/2011 ENG 2111 Clinton Boswell In The Sermon on the Mount, Christ says that “You shall not commit adultery”, meaning that no man or woman should look to another with desire, or passion, or they would be committing the sin of adultery. The only person that should be desired or loved with passion is Christ. As it can be read in Matthew 5-7, “Blessed are the pure in heart, because they shall see God”, otherwise the ones not pure in heart would be committing the sin of adultery. Dante Alighieri writes about the Lustful sinners, which means the ones that were sent to hell because they were not pure in heart, in canto V of Inferno. Dante’s journey thru hell shows the types of punishments that the sinners received according to their way to live on earth. As Dante is being lead by Virgil thru Inferno, Dante describes how is the second circle of hell, which contains the lustful sinners, the ones that went against God. Dante show the symbolism that reflects the sermon that Christ gave to the humans at the top of the mount when Christ said that “I tell you that any man who puts away his wife, except for the reason of harlotry, is making her the victim of adultery; and any man who marries a wife who has been divorced is committing adultery.” That goes to man and woman as well, as it can be seen, not only men are put in the Lustful sinners, women as well are send to there to pay for they sin. Dante explain the difference between lust as the sin, and love as being...

Technology

...oday's technology is already producing a marked shift in the way we think and behave, particularly among the young. I mustn't, however, be too censorious, because what I'm talking about is pleasure. For some, pleasure means wine, women and song; for others, more recently, sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll; and for millions today, endless hours at the computer console. But whatever your particular variety of pleasure (and energetic sport needs to be added to the list), it's long been accepted that 'pure' pleasure - that is to say, activity during which you truly "let yourself go" - was part of the diverse portfolio of normal human life. Until now, that is. Now, coinciding with the moment when technology and pharmaceutical companies are finding ever more ways to have a direct influence on the human brain, pleasure is becoming the sole be-all and end-all of many lives, especially among the young. We could be raising a hedonistic generation who live only in the thrill of the computer-generated moment, and are in distinct danger of detaching themselves from what the rest of us would consider the real world. This is a trend that worries me profoundly. For as any alcoholic or drug addict will tell you, nobody can be trapped in the moment of pleasure forever. Sooner or later, you have to come down. I'm certainly not saying all video games are addictive (as yet, there is not enough research to back that up), and I genuinely welcome the new generation of "brain-training" computer...

...THE B L A C K SWAN The HIGHLY I mpact IM of the PROBABLE Nassim Nicholas Taleb U.S.A. $26.95 Canada $34.95 is a highly improbable event with three principal characteristics: It is unpre dictable; it carries a massive impact; and, after the fact, we concoct an explanation that makes it appear less random, and more predictable, than it was. The astonishing success of Google was a black swan; so was 9 / 1 1 . For Nassim Nicholas Taleb, black swans underlie almost everything about our world, from the rise of religions to events in our own personal lives. A BLACK SWAN Why do we not acknowledge the phenomenon of black swans until after they occur? Part of the answer, according to Taleb, is that humans are hardwired to learn specifics when they should be focused on generalities. We concentrate on things we already know and time and time again fail to take into consideration what we don't know. We are, therefore, unable to truly estimate oppor tunities, too vulnerable to the impulse to simplify, narrate, and categorize, and not open enough to rewarding those who can imagine the "impossible." For years, Taleb has studied how we fool our selves into thinking we know more than we actually do. We restrict our thinking to the irrelevant and inconsequential, while large events continue to surprise us and shape our world. Now, in this reve latory book, Taleb explains everything we know about what we don't know. He offers...
