FROZEN has been a global sensation with great reception by audiences around the world with its original song “Let It Go”. Let It Go was translated into many languages which captivated people around the globe of all ages . This move by Disney can be seen as a form of “media globalization” via the means of YouTube and theatrical releases on Television in different countries with different cultures and languages. The reception of the film can be seen as a “cultural process” or Cultural globalization which is the intensification and expansion of cultural flows across the globe .

1) Mollet, T. 2013. “With a smile and a song …”: Walt Disney and the birth of the American fairy tale.” Marvels & Tales 27 (1): 109-24.

In this journal article, Mollet reviews on how Walt Disney’s production is now being seen as crucial to the construction of the modern American society through his contribution to the formation of a new United States nationalism . The author approaches the topic using cultural studies and textual analysis ofn Disney fairy tales to exemplify how they reflect the dominant (?) culture of America. Her research focuses on analysing Disney films such as “Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs”, “Three Little Pigs”, “Wizard of Oz” and how these films and their characters portray the unstable society and culture of America during the great depression and other different time periodslines. The journal is useful for my topic as Mollet explains how Disney films are produced to reflect the culture of the American society. In relation to my case study, I seek to explain how Disney’s FROZEN reception can be seen as a global (?) “cultural process”. The limitation of this journal is that it only mentions three of the Disney films dating back to the early 1930s, thus there is a need for

...(317)274-2049 (317)278-8171 www.iupui.edu/~uwc “Because writers need readers” Preparing an Annotated Bibliography Classes that require you to do research often require an annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography is a useful way to start a research project because it asks you to collect and summarize sources that you might use later in a research paper. Collecting and summarizing sources early in the research process helps you narrow your research topic. The bibliography can also help you evaluate the possible usefulness of source material for later use in a paper. This handout is designed to show you how to create an annotated bibliography. Specifically, it will guide you through the process of creating an annotated bibliography by 1) describing in general terms the meaning of the words “annotated bibliography,” 2) explaining in general terms how to write an annotated bibliography, and 3) offering an example of what an annotated bibliography could look like. However, it is important to note that individual instructors may have different requirements for their annotated bibliography assignments. Please check with your teacher or assignment sheet BEFORE following the advice in this handout. What is an Annotated Bibliography? If you have been assigned to write an annotated bibliography, you might be confused about what the words "annotated" and "bibliography" mean. The word “annotated” is the past tense form of the verb “to annotate” which means to summarize. An annotation...

...an Annotated Bibliography? An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents on a related topic. Each citation is followed by a brief (30150 word) descriptive paragraph. The purpose of the annotation is to critically evaluate the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources you have cited and help other researchers locate valuable information. Steps in Creating an Annotated Bibliography: 1. Locate books, periodicals, and other sources that may contain information on your topic. 2. Critically examine the items. For a book, scan the jacket, introduction, table of contents and index. For an article, carefully review the abstract and main headings in the text. 3. After the initial review, select those works that provide useful information/perspectives on your topic. 4. Create an APA style reference entry for each item. 5. Immediately below the reference entry compose a concise paragraph that summarizes the central theme and scope of each book, article, film, essay, website, government report, etc. Typically, an annotation includes: 1 o information on the authority or background of the author 2 o a description of the intended audience for the work 3 o a comparison/contrast of the usefulness of this work with other items cited in the bibliography 4 o information that you discovered that would help another researcher investigating the same topic. (You might not need to use both articles, but it is better to have extra information in case one of your sources ends up not being useful). Step 3: Carefully read and annotate your researched articles. Step 4: Submit annotated bibliographies for each article. Annotations should summarize points made in the article and analysis of the ideas. In addition, you need to identify how specific ideas can be useful to you for writing your research. What points are made that can help support your views? What specific quotes from the text might you choose to include in your essay and why (what do the quotes show and how could they fit within the context of your research)? ...My research process was rather complex. In looking back to week two, I had several topics of interest. The selections included how women are treated in different cultures, sustainable living, hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking” and single-sex education. All of these subjects are significant and have an impact on society. I probably spent 5-10 hours on each area, researching and flushing out the questions and issues. I decided upon single-sex education, as it seemed a topic I could focus on and move forward with. I then did probably another 2-4 hours of research on this specific topic and wanted to see what information and data was available. That led to the challenge of deciding which direction to go with writing the paper, and that led to figuring out the argumentative questions and thesis. I felt there was a significant amount of starting and stopping on the paper, which I found to be testing my patience. I had 4 other classes this term and work 2 jobs. I also have a family of 6, so I needed to figure out a way to balance all these things. This is one thing that I grew from, as I focused and kept a steady pace. I am almost through the term, and have all A's (unless something catastrophic happens to change things this next week). I learned a good bit on all of the topics mentioned above, and have refocused some of my thoughts and commitments to be back in alignment with my life as a whole. Sustainable living, eating healthy, having a holistic approach to life...

Library Journal, 13128 Sam Brooks, author of this article is describing the evaluating of evaluations, such as the look at the idea of database evaluation. The author believe that there are several different areas of the database that should be looked at such as the color of the site, the way the search screen are made and more. He believes that learning this gives to the true understanding of the database evaluation. Brooks sees that sellers will describe the databases in the way of the numbers of printed work that is available in complete written material. But Brooks believes that for evaluation and direct comparing of information is not suffice. He thinks that people that evaluate these things should look at subsets of the numbers to get the complete truth and understanding of the treasure of a good developed database. Brooks shows that two databases created to reach the research needs of an educational group. An example of a question in a database could be “How many of the publications are in complete text?” The database also had a list of the complete texted publications and it tells you how many of the publications that were active and the ones that were peer-reviewed. It also told about the complete text that is continuing being published. The article did speak about embargoes which is a delay in...

...Directions for Annotated Bibliography You will provide an annotated bibliography of 25 references that you plan to use for your research paper. This must be in APA format, with a cover page and references that each includes a summary, analysis and reflection. This assignment is due by 12 midnight (EST) on the Sunday of Week 3. Why do an annotated bibliography? The Writing Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill provides an excellent response: A good annotated bibliography: • encourages you to think critically about the content of the works you are using, their place within a field of study, and their relation to your own research and ideas. • proves you have read and understand your sources. • establishes your work as a valid source and you as a competent researcher. An annotated bibliography is a list of sources and includes APA formatted references to the articles, books and resources (all which should have been found through the Liberty University Online Library) which one has compiled for a research assignment. Following each reference is a brief description and an evaluation of the source. The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to benefit the researcher and provide the content, relevance and quality of the sources. Do NOT simply cut and past the abstract as the annotation, as they are not the same. Abstracts are summaries of a source, whereas annotations also include a short summary. Abstracts include a critical...
