Therefore their annotations will deal with how the material is useful in that area. The annotations in this example are not 150 words but yours MUST be. You would be expected to add such items as useful quotes, passages etc. that you could use in your essay as support for your thesis. Annotated Reflection

...Before starting the annotated bibliography, I was very confused because the prompt had stated that I had to construct an annotated bibliography that was two to three pages. It was shocking to me since it sounded like an extremely difficult task compared to the other papers I wrote. Luckily, that was just a mistake and the prompt actually required a paragraph summarizing each secondary source. With that in mind as well as the example summary, I was able to complete the annotated bibliography on time. Similar to the other papers, I had to question the rhetorical situation first. Like always, the readers are my professors, meaning that I did not need to elaborate too much on the primary sources. I also considered the genre of the story I had...

Foodway Essay

...Foodways Research Essay The purpose of this assignment is to conduct an intensive line of research which you will use to produce a 7-9 page essay that informs your reader about the multi-faceted dynamics of a single food item (ingredient, product, or dish) of your choice. This expository essay will mix firsthand experience with research in providing your reader with both an objective and a subjective perspective on your chosen food item. You will research the official history and cultural significance of this food item using scholarly source material and add to this, as applicable, the unofficial or folk history of the dish (stories, rituals, and customs relating to the dish, traditions of preparation and/or consumption). If you have a particular family history relating to this food item, feel free to explore that as well. You will also present a full description, somewhere in your essay, of what the experience of consuming this food item is like – what tastes like, smells like, and feels like on your palate. I strongly suggest that you make a vivid use of figurative language in trying to bring off a vicarious sense of what this experience is like. For this assignment make use of a minimum of five print sources (including at least one article taken from an online database and one book) and one interview source. Some sources you may wish to consider are The Oxford Encyclopedia of Food and Drink in America, Bower African American Foodways, and the Credo reference...
