The purpose of this book is to teach readers about health and fitness. This source offers a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between health and exercise. It also provides the framework required for attaining health and fitness goals, which is something I will be writing about in my research paper. I decided the source I chose provided reliable information for a couple reasons. One reason was because it was found on the Champan University Library website. Another reason I found it reputable was it passed the CRAAP Test. The CRAAP test is a method I learned in a previous class that checks each source for currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose. Every time I have ever used the CRAAP test, the source is always reliable. Even though the information was published in 2007, older information is acceptable concerning the benefits of physical activity, since physical fitness is not exactly new information. The book relates to my topic due to the large amount of information dealing with the effects physical fitness has on the body.
The author is Brian J. Sharkey PhD. who, according to Human Kinetics (2006), “served as director of the University of Montana's Human Performance Laboratory for many years and remains associated with the university and lab as professor emeritus.” The publisher lists its website in the book for reference and questions.
