Any policy on anti-discrimination should delineate the rights and responsibilites of both staff and clients in relation to the delivery of health care, while complying with equality and equal opportunities, as well as human rights legislation. Some factors which should be taken into consideration are:
• A working environment which is free from discrimination and harassment
• Compliance with the provisions of State and Federal law including: o Age Discrimination Act 2004 o Australian Human Rights Commission Act 1986 o Disability Discrimination Act 1992 o Racial Discrimination Act 1975 o Sex Discrimination Act 1984 o Anti Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD)
• Employees are entitled to receive fair and equitable treatment without discrimination
