Band might seem to have nothing to do with healthcare but it can be applied to pretty much everything in life. Band is extremely time consuming. A typical band student has to perform their marching show, which is rehearsed since August, to a rough estimate of ten football games, march in at least three to four parades, and perform two to three indoor concerts which take several months of practice. In many ways my education was great because I learned to challenge myself and because I’m in control of what I learn. However there is one issue that I have noticed within my own education, the amount stress students face while getting an education. Eighth grade was when I really learned to challenge myself mentally. I was taking two high school courses—one of which I basically taught myself the entire curriculum—Algebra one and Physical Science. The entire first semester of AP chemistry was an uphill battle and was riddled with failures. Any preconceived notions I had about my ability to succeed were seemingly shot down within the first 3 weeks of the class. There were concepts I had never learned and problems I wouldn't have dared touch in my sophomore chemistry class. After a long quarter of struggling, I knew that I needed to make a change.
