Triple click your mouse anywhere in this paragraph to replace this text with your introduction. Often the most important paragraph in the entire essay, the introduction grabs the reader's attention—sometimes a difficult task for academic writing. When writing an introduction, some approaches are best avoided. Avoid starting sentences with “The purpose of this essay is . . .” or “In this essay I will . . .” or any similar flat announcement of your intention or topic. Level One Heading Throughout Israel’s history, God had provided for them. He had proven that He loves them and always did what was best for them. Israel never deserved any of this and they disobeyed God many different times. Even though Israel had turned away from the Lord so many times, He still was faithful to them. God promised the Israelites in Deuteronomy that if were faithful to Him and honored Him, He would bless them and increase their numbers. God had always provided Israel with the leaders that they needed. He gave them Moses to lead them out of slavery in Egypt and Joshua to lead them after Moses’s death. Even though the Lord had been so faithful to the Israelites and always had provided them with sufficient leaders, they still disobeyed Him and did what they wanted to do. During Samuel’s time, Israel wanted to appoint a king. In fact, they said, “Give us a king to judge us like all the other nations have” (1 Sam 8:5). They wanted a king because all the other nations had a king. The problem with this is that the Israelites were rejected their king in Heaven for an earthly king.

...your particular position or claim. Before you can create your first paragraph, consider these “pre-writing” tips. You can use this template to help you format your paper. For longer papers, include sub-headings or levels of heading. The Writing Process Spend time planning your paper. A good practice is to brainstorm ideas and decide how to express the main idea or thesis. Once you have a rough idea of what you want to say or argue, create an outline or list to help you organize the evidence you plan to present. For more suggestions, please read about thesis statements on our Ashford Writing Center website: Thesis Statements. Other helpful tools on our website are the Thesis Generator and Moving from Prompt to Thesis. Writing the Body Paragraphs Each paragraph of your assignment should be clear and easy to follow. We have several good resources to help you write a strong paragraph, such as How to Write a Good Paragraph and the P.I.E. Paragraph Structure. Using Citations Correctly In addition to being well-written, each paragraph should include an in-text citation to all ideas, references, or quotations that are from outside sources and research. The Ashford Writing Center provides many resources to help you follow correct citation style (primarily APA) and gives lessons and examples of how to paraphrase and cite sources. The APA Key Elements page is a good place to start. References The following are commonly used references. Please fill in the......

...Started with Sixth Edition APA Format John Paul Smith American Institute of Alternative Medicine, School of Practical Nursing Getting Started with Sixth Edition APA Format The beginning paragraph is the introduction of the topics discussed within the paper. The heading for this paragraph should have the exact same title as the title page. The sixth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (American Psychological Association [APA], 2010) presents a style almost as clunky as those of the preceding editions, but on the plus side, some of its sections (particularly those on grammar) have been reduced, other sections have been reorganized, and new formatting features make it easier to read. This paper provides examples of manuscript title page, abstract page, first text page, running heads, and citation and reference style, as well as an overview of the new APA manual as a whole. It also provides, in the first section, clear-cut instructions for how to deliver proper new APA format when working in Microsoft Word (this paragraph should be 120-150 words). Setting Up the Two Running Heads in Word One important change to APA concerns where to place the two running heads, and, because placing running heads in Word can be tricky, this first section of the paper is dedicated to making that process as painless as possible. You could, of course, simply use this document (the one you're reading now) as a template for your own paper......

When typing the title, center it on the page and capitalize only the first letter of important words.) Author(s) Institutional Affiliation Abstract The text of the abstract goes here. It should be a single paragraph has a block format, that is, the first line should not be indented. The purpose of this section is to provide a brief and comprehensive summary of the study. It should be accurate (do not include information here that is not in the body of the manuscript), self-contained (spell out abbreviations), concise (120 word maximum), and specific (begin this section with the most important information and limit it to the four or five most important concepts, findings, or implications of the study). As part of the theme of being concise, use digits for all numbers except when they begin a sentence. Avoid citing references in the abstract. Paraphrase rather than quoting. Use active rather than passive voice (but without personal pronouns). Use past tense for procedures and present tense for results. It is a good idea to write this section last. This section informs the reader about what the Whole essay is about, and is possibly the most important part of the essay. Fundamental of Effective Communication

...kin31937_ch.02.qxd 10/23/06 2:06 PM Page 11 THESIS SENTENCE TEMPLATES A thesis sentence is a sentence in the introduction that tells the reader what the topic or argument of the essay is. Experienced writers have little difficulty writing thesis sentences. This is because they have read and written thousands of them. You, the emerging writer, don’t have it so easy. So, you have to accelerate the process. You do this via thesis sentence templates. A thesis sentence template is the basic machinery of a thesis sentence, what makes it work. It is like a car minus the hood, the doors, the engine, the side panels, the wheels, and the air conditioner. On that basic structure, thousands of different cars can be built. From a thesis sentence template, thousands of thesis sentences can be constructed. The introduction for any piece of writing is very important. This is where you establish a relationship with the reader. The introduction will always be read, while the body of the paper might sometimes be glossed over (not carefully read) by graders of standardized tests like the SAT® or TOEFL®. ? HOW THE THESIS SENTENCE TEMPLATES WORK Each type of thesis sentence presented in this section is followed by two or three examples of how very different thesis sentences can be written using the template. Then you will write two or three thesis sentences of your own using the template. If you find the template difficult, just do one sentence on your own. But the more......

Meeting Human Services Challenges with Technology

...Meeting Human Services Challenges with Technology Gina Sharra BSHS-351 January, 24th, 2011 Nate Hooper Meeting Human Services Challenges with Technology Technology has grown so much in the last decade that it is something that really should be used in the human services organizations today. It can help any of the organizations to not only grow with the demands that need to be met in human services, but it can also help the many services that are already being used or help to implement new technology uses that are not being used at this time for instance updating their systems. Technology can be used in many ways to benefit human services businesses, organizations as well as the non-profit services. There are so many different software’s that can be used to upgrade systems, add in systems that are old-school in which it will not only benefit these places in time management, privacy, HIPPA laws and in many other areas. One challenge for human services non-profit organization is it needs the proper tools to be able to provide its community with the services that are needed. But if they do not have the tools to get the information out into the community on what services they do provide than the community not only has no idea about this organization and what they provide, but the organization actually looses too because they themselves have no clientele. The different types of strategies that can help in this particular situation would be to add different ways for......

...recognition algorithms identify facial features by extracting landmarks, or features, from an image of the subject's face. For example, an algorithm may analyze the relative position, size, and/or shape of the eyes, nose, cheekbones, and jaw. These features are then used to search for other images with matching features. Other algorithms normalize a gallery of face images and then compress the face data, only saving the data in the image that is useful for face recognition. A probe image is then compared with the face data. One of the earliest successful systems is based on template matching techniques applied to a set of salient facial features, providing a sort of compressed face representation. Recognition algorithms can be divided into two main approaches, geometric, which looks at distinguishing features, or photometric, which is a statistical approach that distills an image into values and compares the values with templates to eliminate variances. Popular recognition algorithms include Principal Component Analysis using eigenfaces, Linear Discriminate Analysis, Elastic Bunch Graph Matching using the Fisherface algorithm, the Hidden Markov model, the Multilinear Subspace Learning using tensor representation, and the neuronal motivated dynamic link matching. 3-dimensional recognition A newly emerging trend, claimed to achieve improved accuracies, is...
